I just spent a night at the Porches Inn with a friend. We were in the area to visit the Clark Museum in Williamstown and MassMoCA. The inn is a group of renovated houses which are across the street from MassMoca. They were the former homes of mill workers and have been charmingly restored. My room was large, and the...

My husband booked this hotel and at first I was a little taken aback by the room and its furnishings. It was more like somebody's home rather than a hotel. However, I soon warmed up to its ambiance and charm. These are old refurbished working man's quarters to the factory across the street (now a wonderful modern art museum which...

This inn is a creative re-purposing of old rooming houses transformed into comfortable and relaxing hotel rooms, lobby areas and breakfast rooms. Charming from the get-go with a fireplace room perfect for chatting or reading and a pop-up wine bar. Beds are extremely comfy, and the breakfast spread was extensive. The staff were very welcoming and helpful.

We found this place when planning a trip to a concert at MassMOCA. We were a little hesitant with the daily rate (we thought it high for North Adams, MA) but were glad that we went with the Porches. The rooms are nicely appointed and comfortable. The reviews that describe this place as "quirky" are accurate, but quirky in a...

We stopped here during a road trip around New England and chose Porches, as it was quirky and different. It is like staying in someone’s house in the countryside rather than a hotel. We were given a free upgrade to a suite (room 12 in the grey building), which was much appreciated! Our room had separate living area over looking...

A really different and quirky hotel. From outside it looks like a row of houses which it is. They are workers homes converted into really great and interesting rooms. The decor is a combination of original, industrial and modern, there is something interesting to look at everywhere you look. Everything in the room was excellent and worked well, including the...

the concept in fun, hipster thrift store look - like old dishes & paint by numbers as decoration. the design is basic, and not high end, but it was fine. I did not like the location so much, it is on a moderately busy thoroughfare behind the Moca. Great proximity to the museum, but if you front the street, it...

We’re sorry you didn’t find North Adams particularly interesting, and also that you didn’t enjoy a good night’s sleep with us. In many ways, North Adams is a typical New England mill town, but what makes it unique is how it’s reinventing itself as an arts destination. You mention that MASS MoCA has some incredible contemporary art, and its gallery...

I've stayed at Porches several times and it does not disappoint. It is unique and beautiful with attentive staff and in a great location. It has a beautiful mix of the old and new. Porches is across the street from MassMoCA and within walking distance to restaurants and pubs. I also think I've received an upgrade every time I've stayed....

We were expecting a beautiful weekend and we booked it a month in advance online but we had no idea what was waiting for us. The carpet stunk, and had several stains, we could hear upstairs folks walking and using the restroom, so we requested change in rooms we were told to call before booking and make our selections then...

We are very sorry that you didn't enjoy your recent stay at Porches. As soon as you informed us you were unhappy with your room, we made every effort to move you to a room that would be more to your liking. Unfortunately, however, because we had a full house that night and because most of our guests had already...

Like staying at your grandmother's house 100 years ago. This place is old, quirky, comfortable, interesting, relaxing, and fun while also having all the spiffy modern amenities and touches characteristic of a 4-star hotel. It is a great bucket-list experience and I highly recommend it. The old row houses have floors that creak, windows that open, and shades made out...
