We just came back from two lovely days on Beaver Island. Bob and Joan were wonderful hosts! Our room was very comfortable, the breakfasts were amazing (Eggs Benedict the first morning and Stuffed French Toast the second), and the conversation was unsurpassed. We truly felt that Irish Failte: a welcome with warmth and kindness. Joan picked us up at the...

We had a wonderful stay. This B&B is on an old hunting property of 40 acres. We spent a couple of days and drove to town and the beaches. Bob and Joan were wonderful hosts. Their deck is a very nice place to watch wildlife. They had turkey, deer, hummingbirds, lots of squirrels and chipmunks and a coyote made a...

Bob and Jan run a first class Bed and Breakfast in the middle of the Island. The home is beautiful and the two of them are very helpful with attractions and things to do while on the Island. I highly recommend this as the number one place to stay.

We stayed here in July 2012 for one night, because we couldn't stay at our usual place. We loved this B&B. The hosts were very accommodating, as we were traveling with our son. They made their home feel as if it was ours. We got to see deer up close at the house, while sitting on the back porch. The...

My daughter and I stayed at shanoule for 2 nights. Bob and Joan were fabulous friendly, knowledgable hosts! This is the nicest B&B I have ever experienced....the home is unique, clean, beautiful....but the best part is how Bob and Joan make you feel welcome there. Bob went out his way to tend our needs and make our stay pleasant. Bob...

I read through the reviews before booking and everyone is correct: this is a 5 star B&B. We felt very welcome. Bob picked us up from the airport and gave us a tour so we could later explore on our own using their rented car. The B&B is 6 miles from town so you need a car! The surroundings are...

The following saying can be seen in several places at Shanoule Bed and Breakfast: “Cead mile failte.” Translated from Irish Gaelic this means, “a hundred thousand welcomes,” and that’s exactly how we felt at Shanoule. When Bob was giving us a tour of the B&B, he told us that he hoped that we would make their home our home for...

If you are looking for a beautiful log cabin in a picturesque setting, look no further. We really enjoyed our stay at the Shanoule B&B and we could not have asked for nicer hosts. The other reviews are accurate regarding Bob and Joan's cooking, wittiness and story telling as well as their thorough knowledge of the island. We would definitely...

Where to start? What to say that hasn't already been said about these wonderful hosts? Bob is an incredible cook as well as an entertaining and witty storyteller (Joan can hold her own as well in both departments!) Their pride in the Island and it's people is very evident. Their knowledge on the Island's history was almost encyclopedic! Their suggestions...

Bob and Joan were very friendly, helpful hosts and this was a clean home. We got a unique perspective on island life that we would have missed had we stayed in a hotel. We are used to much more privacy and attention to detail when staying at a B&B. This was really just renting a room in someone's home. In...

“This is NOT a hotel, it is a B&B. We had other couples there while we were, which is not unusual for a B&B, but if your prefer hotels there are other hotels on the island. I can't comment on their quality. Bob mentioned they have had guests that did not understand the shared quarters of B&B's. They did make up the beds daily and changed the towels daily. Having your own bathroom was nice, it does not happen in every B&B.”
