Detailed Reviews
Who serves a complimentary, full-service breakfast anymore? Nobody...unless you're the Evergreen Resort, for the win! The staff were amazing: from the warmth and courtesy at the front desk, to the bartender that spoiled us, to the servers in the breakfast room who graciously poured us refills on coffee. The other hotels were $100 for a 2-queen room; we paid $136 and got to enjoy sausage links and waffles. When you factor in how much we would have spent on breakfast in town, we came out ahead. Happy kids: happy morning!

We stopped on our way through as the hotel was a good deal and other hotels were selling out for closer to $200 a night. We checked in and the beds were pretty comfortable. Hotel is a little dated in spots but the breakfast was AMAZING. They had a hot bar along with typical continental breakfast items. The staff was so nice and I’d definitely recommend this hotel/resort to anyone

We were in need of overnight accommodations on our way to pick up our son from church camp. We chose this location for its proximity, but the feature that really attracted me was that pet accommodations are offered. We were charged a slight upcharge for our dog. The room was definitely older and had a slight pet odor smell, but I figured it was because of being a pet friendly room. Staff were friendly, and breakfast was included and good. We did not use the pool. The golf course was definitely busy! It seems to be a popular resort.

The golf was good, played Emerald Vale, Eldorado, but our round at Lakewood on the Green got washed out. The room was good, breakfast excellent, but was disappointed when we checked in on Sunday afternoon, walked up to Curly's and found it to be closed until Tuesday afternoon. Since we were checking out Wednesday, we only had one meal there, though we each got a $10 voucher that made it a cheap meal. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Curly's being closed most of our stay, seems like a missed opportunity for the resort. Only played the 9 hole course at the resort so I can't speak much to the on site courses. Overall a good experience.

Staff were very helpful and nice. Maintenance tended to our faulty door lock immediately, the breakfast crew were very pleasant and attentive, we did not experience any problems whatsoever. Look forward to coming back.

Oh, where to start... The first thing that tipped me off that Evergreen “Resort” wasn’t all it is cracked up to be were the front desk personnel who, while wearing masks, had them well under their noses. Then, they made me initial next to a line that said if we broke anything in our room our credit card would be charged. I’ve never encountered this before and it immediately made me wonder about their usual clientele.
Next, we walked into our room and the odor hit us. It was musty, old, rundown and, after being there awhile, we realized it must be moldy as we became very congested. We told the front desk and they immediately put us in a “renovated” room. The fact that they didn’t argue with us is the only thing in their favor. While the room had been renovated and didn’t smell, the furniture was still beat up and the toilet leaked, leaving a puddle on the bathroom floor.
Our room came with breakfast which was disappointing. The restaurant serves one meal at breakfast; you have no choice. One day they had scrambled eggs, potatoes, and bacon, the next scrambled eggs, potatoes, and sausage. They gave you a fruit cup (the sealed plastic type that you put in kids’ school lunches) and a sealed juice cup. To drink you can have coffee or a bottle of water. It seems that they are using COVID as an excuse to not offer choices of what you might want to eat at breakfast.
I suggest you avoid Evergreen Resort. If you have to stay there, get a renovated room.

Very rundown. Hallway carpets are stained and torn. Breakfast might be free but it is barely edible. Precooked salt laden foods. Fruit cup is a Dole Fruit cup in the plastic. Had to ask for toast? Room was clean, however the shower curtain needs to be replaced it at the very least washed kn clean water. It smelled like a dirty mop/moldy smell.
Golf course is OK. They say they are booked solid every time you ask for a tee time. But I didn’t see that many people playing.

This place is a golf resort. We were passing through. The coffee in the lobby was put away early in afternoon. Parking was tight and if you went down a lane and no parking was available you had to back out. The pool was in a different building and far away from our room. The hot tub paint was flaking. Our room had some issues. The air-conditioner fan made a loud rattling noise and when it was on low it was even louder. We like air circulating so turning it off was not an option. In the bathroom over our toilet the wallpaper was painted a bright yellow. The temperature control in the shower was difficult to regulate and it would get very hot at intervals. Not issues I would expect considering the price we paid. I would not stay there again.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay. I am sorry to hear that it was less than satisfactory for you. Rest assured, we are already working on (or have scheduled) many of the issues you had mentioned. All of the rooms are getting minor updates made, and some of our older rooms are getting completely renovated, along with the pool and hot tub area. Thanks to feedback from guests like you, we are able to best direct our efforts at what our guests WANT to see when doing updates to the property. Hope you get the chance to enjoy the new changes once we get to golf season again!

We just returned home from our stay at Evergreen Resort. We loved our stay. Everyone was so friendly and it was genuine. The room was so clean. I loved how nice they were so much I am going back for an ice fishing get away on Lake Cadillac. The resort is the perfect spot for all my outside activities that I love, fishing, skiing, biking and hiking. It is on a golf course so I am actually thinking of taking up golfing too. I tried cross county skiing for the first time and the Assistant Manager actually came outside with me as she knew I was nervous and she made sure I felt comfortable to venture out on my own.

I was horrified walking into this property yesterday, 8/1/20, after a long day at work. When I walked off the elevator on the 2nd floor to go to my room, there in front of the elevator was wedding reception being held in one of the "ball rooms" - with a mobile bar sitting in an open area adjacent to the room. The vast majority of people were NOT wearing masks.
What were the staff/manager thinking by allowing this venue to occur given the fact as of July 31, 2020, all bars across Michigan MUST close to indoor service, and indoor gatherings are now capped at 10 people in the state.
My rating is based on my experience last night and the overall poor management which let this event occur. I will not recommend this property to anyone as I feel they are putting their guests at risk by not obeying the Governor's Executive orders.

I am sorry that you were unhappy with your experience at our resort. I would like to clarify that the events being held on our property are in compliance with the executive order, as we are in Region 6 and have had different restrictions than the majority of the rest of the state of Michigan. As our restaurant is NOT a bar whose sales are comprised of over 70% alcohol, our restaurant and banquet spaces are still currently open and operating within the state guidelines. We also encourage social distancing, require masks in any public areas, and have provided additional hand sanitizer stations throughout the entire resort. When in the restaurant or reception areas, guest are NOT required to wear masks while at their tables where they eat. The guest rooms are all to the left when you exit the elevator, and the banquet areas are off to the right. Our staff remain in compliance, and we do our best to ensure our guests are as well. Most of the people who visit our restaurant, hotel and golf course are happy to comply, and we have complimentary masks (and even gloves) if there is anyone who needs one. If you feel comfortable with travelling and wish to stay with us, you may always request at the time of reservation and/or check-in that you would like a room in a quiet area! We are always happy to comply with the requests of our guests!

We have cross country trails and snowshoe-ing available onsite, as well as equipment rentals.
The closest ski hill for downhill activities is Caberfae Peaks, which is 18 miles away from our property.
We have several junior and deluxe suites that have a jacuzzi tub in the room. Please feel free to request availability for any specific dates!
As long as social distancing guidelines are followed properly, our pool will remain open as long as we are allowed. Our pool is open for guests from 9am until 9pm at 25% of normal capacity, as mandated by COVID-19 regulations. Pool towels are available at the front desk for your convenience.
Yes, we do have a few different suites available. The fun part of how the resort was designed and added onto in stages, there are a lot of different room layouts :)
Curly's Bar & Grill is located right off the lobby, so you can access easily from any guest room.
