Booked this week and had two fabulous nights with wonderful hosts, Gary and Donna. They were very professional, welcoming, accommodating (extra guests) and helpful, I couldn't ask for anything better. Being local people from the area, they have an excellent knowledge of the area and know what walks to recommend depending on what you are looking for and your fitness...

Saying we would return I could not believe it took us nearly a year to do so. It is nice to see in this fast paced changing world some things just don't change and remain as good as ever. Gary is a wonderful host, welcoming and knowledgable of his fine wine cellar. Donna and David produce some terrific food, indeed...

Small friendly family run hotel set in beautiful location, away from the hustle and bustle of the busy towns. Fabulous views and plenty of wildlife to observe, including red squirrels. Lovely sitting room with log fire. Comfortable bedroom and really warm bathroom. Food excellent, starting with canapés and finishing with a delicious dessert.

A fantastic room from which we could watch the red squirrels feeding. Comfy bed, the room was kept at just the right temp. The food was so good, although the menu was set, anything we did not like was substituted for something we preferred. Nothing was a trouble to Garry, Donna or their son Adam. To my mind this is...

The weather over the weekend could not dampen our spirits during our 3 night stay . The hospitality of Gary , Donna and Adam was superb . The rooms are spotlessly clean and the food was excellent. If it's your first visit to Cumbria you will not find a more peaceful setting with lovely walks from the doorstep.
