Crown Metropol Perth garners a mix of feedback from its guests. While the hotel's rooms offer comfort and pleasing views, a number of guests have expressed concerns over the room's cleanliness and somewhat outdated decor. The service receives both accolades for its attentiveness and criticisms for occasional neglect. Dining options at the hotel are well-received, yet the cleanliness and pool facilities have room for improvement, particularly regarding extra costs and maintenance.
The hotel's location is generally appreciated for its accessibility to local attractions, though some guests find the need to arrange transport to the CBD. Despite the lively and inviting atmosphere, the noise from on-site entertainment has been a drawback for some. Additionally, the hotel's value is questioned by many due to extra charges, which seem to detract from the overall experience.

Detailed Reviews
Excellent hôtel. Little disappointed our loft with balcony overlooked car park. Balcony needs a table setting too for dining alfresco option. Lighting hard to navigate, for example, most switches in room turning all lights off or on, not individually. Tv remote in bedroom faulty but quickly fixed by housekeeping/IT. Some updates to cushions, carpets required with some old stains, burn holes (outdoor) noted.
But really enjoy this hotel, especially in summer, and would definitely go back
Recommend pre booking dinner on busy nights. Silks was below average with poor service, expensive, major food options unavailable (most fresh fish and shell fish U/A & only 3 bite size pieces of deep fried tooth fish served for a group of 6 & 2 small frozen lobsters (as no crab avail) to share & with wrong sauce (pepper not black bean) that was ordered) no tea offered.
Nobu was a highlight, if not rather expensive, but so worth it! Best meal ever, and service second to none!

Stayed November 2020 for two nights. Included valet parking and a luxe view room. Met at the door by a gentleman who then organised the valet parking. Check in quick and smooth. Room on third floor was magnificent. Great views of pools, Maragarup Bridge and Optus Stadium. Fantastic at night when all lit up.
Bathroom was very luxurious. Huge bath. All toiletries provided. Second night we could hear people talking in the next room but luckily didn’t last long. Only “ complaint” de room was that the cleaners who made up the bed after first night didn’t straighten the bottom sheet. Bed looked good until covers pulled back and bottom sheet had not been straightened. Full of wrinkles. Apart from that no complaints. Bed and pillows very comfortable.
Breakfast was superb. Such a huge selection of both Asian and Western foods. Staff were lovely and helpful. Was delighted to see so many hand sanitizing stations around and staff requesting they be used.
One disappointing fact was we were not notified that the indoor pool was closed for renovations during our stay.
The location is terrific- can easily walk to the Stadium and bridge along a lovely path with seating along the way if you need to rest.
Caught taxi to n from Perth.Around $16 each way. Can get shuttle bus to train station but we don’t like public transport so our choice to use taxis.Overall a great experience

We booked a room with a city view but were upgraded on arrival to a suite with a huge balcony overlooking the river and city. The room amenities included everything we could need or want. Cleanliness and maintenance was 100%. Once inside the room there is no noise intrusion from outside. The pool area is enormous, and again super-clean. All staff were polite, helpful, attentive and friendly. We asked the concierge to book us into one of the restaurants for that evening but it was fully booked, however he said he would make some calls. Five minutes later he called our room and said he had booked us a table. There is a range of restaurant choices from cheap and quick to 5-star elegant dining.

The crown Metropol currently has many offers for extended stays, we chose the $728 3 night stay with a luxe room and sparkling wine.
Check in was ok, the reception area stinks of cigarette smoke..possibly from the casino smoking area. We were originally in a room that faced the casino roof and car park, slightly disappointing for the price paid but not the end of the world..the sparking wine was nowhere to be seen and had to be brought up by a member of staff after calling guest services.
The room was good, it would have been nicer if there weren’t dirty finger marks on the mirrors and underneath the television though. The first night we had an electrician come up due to a nosy exhaust fan above the shower that didn’t switch off when the light switched off. He put a piece of tissue over it and told me they had nosier fans..nice..but I don’t really care because I’m paying a feed to stay in a ‘5*’ hotel, I don’t expect myself or anyone else wants to sleep with the sound of a plane landing coming from the shower. Aside from this the atrium is nosy, the outside aircon is nosy and the in room aircon broke twice and was stuck on 29•c, the electrician came back and was ripping the roof open whilst we were sat in our pyjamas. Embarrassing right?
The second morning the room was left on ‘make up room’, they’d obviously entered, left their key card in the slot in our room and then not even attempted to make it up.
We did mention it to the cleaner on our floor thinking it was probably an innocent mistake..
She had no idea what we were talking about, which is slightly concerning given that someone had been in our room.
She did make the bed after prompting, she left no fresh towels, no fresh bath mats and didn’t move the dirty glasses.
We did move rooms on the third day,
The second room much better than the first. Make sure you ask for a pool view, away from the elevator..I wish I’d known.
Still, the outside aircon..wow. I know it’s an old hotel but I have never heard anything like it.
The pool is nice, sun beds were plentiful and food and drinks reasonable.
There is a kids area which would be perfect if that’s the area they actually used, instead they’re all five bombing, jumping and splashing into the pool..it’s in monitored and there appears to be no rules to the point where young kids are swimming around the spa..which is outrageous.
We made the best of it, it was definitely over priced and I think we’ll 100% go to the towers next time.

Didn’t really feel like a valued customer on this trip. I tried to organize a bottle of champagne upon arrival to the room over the phone. Reception put me on hold to concierge for the request and I was turnt back to reception and the lady told me to bring the request up when we check in. Disregarding the surprise element I would have expected atleast a “we couldn’t get through to them but can I get your name and number and I’ll get them to give you a call back when possible”
Check in was disappointing, no offer in taking our heavy bags up to our room. No introduction on what was on offer at the hotel. Was a quick, here is your key, cya.
We had called up to get things like Ice and glasses and it would take them about 30 minutes but as soon as you pay and order a bottle of champagne, it will be at your room in a matter of minutes.
Ordered a tooth brush 35 minutes before I had to check out and had to call them again 5 minutes before I had to check out to remind them.
As a customer I didn’t feel valued and I was set to spend a lot more money than I did but I felt inclined to not even bother.
The facilities are at the level of a 5 star hotel but the customer service is what you expect at a holiday inn. I would suggest spending your money at the Ritz Carlton, May be a little more but atleast your guaranteed good customer service and a team that actually gives a $hit.
Disappointing that crown isn’t what it use to be.

I have been staying at Crown Metropol for many years for my friends daughters dancing concert. The standards have certainly dropped. There was no complimentary water, shower cap or toiletories. When I complained at the desk
I was told that there have been cut backs and I could phone housekeeping, a little difficult when others in the room are sleeping. I did send photos to management of hotels in Johor Bahru and Singapore and what they supply but no reply. Not good enough for a 5 star hotel

Response from CrownHotelsManager, General Manager at Crown Metropol Perth
Responded 31 Jan 2020
Dear Lois K, Thank you for your recent review. I was naturally disappointed to learn your recent stay did not meet your expectations and I have raised your Housekeeping concerns with our management team. Perth has some of the world’s best drinking water and in our endeavour to reduce waste, Crown Metropol encourages guests to use tap water as opposed to offering bottled water. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss your stay in further detail. If you have the time, please contact our Hotel Duty Manager on +61 8 9632 7684. Once again, thank you for your review and we do hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again for a more positive stay in the near future. Sincerely, Anthony Mauro General Manager Crown Metropol and Crown Promenade Perth

Service levels at this hotel are not strong. The check in experience in particular continues to be one of the worst I have seen. After queuing for 20 mins for a 3pm check in we were told that our room was not available. After numerous return trips to the check in desk we were finally given our room keys at 4.15pm. The check in staff appeared completely indifferent and were not able to offer any explanation for the delay. At one stage we were told that if we wanted a room now that we would have to take a downgraded room.
The pool area was of the usual high quality and our kids loved it. The poolside ordering service that we had enjoyed on previous visits is now non existent. If you want food or drink you will need to lineup at the poolside bar and hope that your order arrives. We had our drinks dropped twice and on one occasion our food never showed up at all (we were told the chef disappeared).
Checking out was the most positive experience of the stay as they allow a contactless key drop.

Our stay was for my partner and I, and our 2 kids for a one night stay-cation. The lady at reception was really lovely and that's about the only good thing I can say about our visit!! The room was so tired and worn out, there was thick dust on everything from the bedside tables, to the tiles around the bath, thick in the corners of the bathroom and toilet area, on the top of the toilet and shower door not to mention the extractor fans! There where spill marks all over the entrance wall and around the mini bar area. The carpet was unravelling where it joined the tiles. Even the menu for the mini bar looked like it had seen better days! We where told our champagne (that was meant to be on arrival) would arrive at 6pm, however it didn't turn up until 9:30pm. The pool area was also looking pretty tired and the towels really worn out and need to be replaced. For a $527 booking I feel totally ripped off - I would not recommend this stay to anyone. My partner and I stayed at the Westin in December last year and it was a much nicer hotel. Wouldn't waste my money here again!

This is our third stay at the Metropol, but the first time we've stayed for more than one night!
Crown gets a lot right, and their Metropol is a staple for Perth folks and travellers alike who want a comfortable, spoilt experience - and for good reason. The resort's amenities are plentiful, the location is in good proximity to the Perth CBD and it is a very short walk to Crown's theatres and ball rooms for your booked events. Plus the king size beds are just heavenly.
Having recently stayed at a new luxury property in FNQ though, I can see now that the Metropol runs the risk of becoming quite tired. The decor is starting to age, and the room's tech facilities are lacking in a 2021 hotel room - I mean, asking $16 for an in-room movie when we're all carrying mobile cinemas around with us is a bit nuts, isn't it? Adding a Chromecast option to the rooms and providing the option of an app for ordering room service, keeping track of the mini bar etc would go a long way to modernise the experience.
Staff are always pleasant and polite at Crown, and this stay was no exception. I especially appreciated feedback and advice from staff on how best to avoid credit card fees when paying our bill upon check in and out.
We wouldn't hesitate to stay again, but considering the premium price being paid we'd love to see some updating of the room's decor and features.

We were quite disappointed in our stay. Every year, I book the family of 5 of us in for my birthday weekend. We have stayed at your resort at least 7 times in the past 6 years.
Our room being on level 1 overlooking the lobby was my first disappointment. Being that we are a family with not young children, I felt like we were placed in the ‘kids room area’. It was incredibly noisy. I would think that ‘regular visitors’ would be a bit like frequent flyers and obtain a nicer room each stay?
The room make up service was not attempted on our room until 3pm on Friday 9th December even though we’d sat by the pool area on a Day bed which we paid $175 for from 8am - 1pm. By that stage at 3pm, I put on ‘Do not disturb’ as I was resting in my room and having a bath, then getting ready to go out for dinner.
We had left the ‘please make up my room’ light on all day, but alas it did not get made up.
Whilst at the pool, on our day bed, we asked to order breakfast items but found out that no food was being served until 11am. That was fine for most of us, but my 15 year old son had been on a river run in the morning so was starving (as teenagers are!) so we sent him to McDonalds for a few hash browns. When he returned to the pool area, the life guards refused him entry to the area because he had food.
He went back to our room and ate his food, then brought my husbands work bag down to the day bed so my husband could ‘work from the day bed’ for the day. My son had the bag searched by the lifeguards at the front pool reception desk to make sure he wasn’t smuggling in MCDonalds food.
When our time on the day bed was up, we were asked nicely to please vacate. That was fine, but being as the service was not offered until 11am, I find $175 a bit rich to pay for a daybed from 8am -1pm. And in my correspondence with the leisure team over email, I wasn’t made aware of this fact.
Overall, our experience at the Crown resort was only Fair, not even good. As we paid thousands of dollars for 2 rooms for 3 nights, then the other sundries added up to $500.
I feel that the expense didn’t justify the experience.
Thanks,

Sorry we used valet parking which was $75.00 as we never visited the casino other than to walk around. Suggest an email to the hotel.
yes and it runs quite frequently - about every 10 minutes or so
I assume you mean a deposit or hold on your credit card which most establishments do now. Yes, they do but it’s only pending so doesn’t get debited out of your bank or credit card unless you need to pay for any extras etc .
Yes there is a fridge and mini bar, and kettle and tea and coffee making facilities (check the draws as they are not always on display). Water from the mini bar for 600ml cost $5.00. Also when I was checking out, I mentioned that I was disappointed in no shower caps or extra bathroom supplies, and I was told, they are available but you have to ask for them (not sure if they charge you for them)
Yes mini bar and kettle
