Probably a very new hotel operated by Marriott. Our room was a mini version of a Residence Inn, but big enough for two people for a night. Full but small kitchen, access to outside grill and seating areas. It was great for visiting Grandkids at Michigan State University.

Nice property but they do not have enough Internet bandwidth to provide anything other than regular TV. Could not get on Netflix or HBO GO. Kept getting bumped off. Wanted to spend a nice relaxing night in our room watching our favorite shows but could not do this. If you choose to stay here bring an iPad with your own Wi-Fi. We have encountered this and other Marriott properties in addition to this one. Very disappointing and we will rethink where we stay in the future. to another brand.

This was our second time staying here and both times, we felt the hotel in general was a good choice. The hotel overall seemed to be clean and well maintained. We had a 2 bedroom suite both times, and for the 4 of us, it was plenty of room. We were not tripping over each other. Loved the full kitchen. We didn't cook in our room, but having the full sized refrigerator was perfect to keep our beverages cold. The staff were very nice and helpful. Annette, who was working the late shift at the front desk was great and was able to help me out with a couple of requests. She was very personable and I was happy that I was able to talk with her even for just a few minutes! I am not giving this hotel 5 stars because of parking. The hotel is right next to an apartment complex, which I am guessing houses mostly college students. The weekend we stayed, there must have been parties going on at the apartment complex. I observed several cars filled with students, park in the hotel parking lot and walk over to the apartments. They were taking parking spaces that should be reserved for hotel patrons. The parking lot quickly filled up and there were some very unhappy guest of the hotel because they could not park at the establishment that they were paying a lot of money to stay at. Then, well after midnight, these same individuals returned to their cars but were extremely loud. I'm pretty sure that this was not the first time nor will it be the last time that something like this happens. There really should be some system in place that prevents non guests of the hotel from taking parking spaces from paying guests. I am considering staying a bit off campus at a different hotel brand next time I am in East Lansing. The parking issue is a problem and as a paying guest, parking should be available.

I’m writing this review at 12:25 am when I have a morning Conference starting at 7:30 am. This place must be overflow housing for the university? College age kids everywhere and they are by no means quiet. Check in and arrival was good, I was Upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite. BUT on the first floor with the outdoor patio and Putt putt golf right outside my bedroom window...more like a downgrade. They are currently outside grilling, smoking, drinking and talking very loudly. DO NOT STAY IN ROOM 116. The hallway currently smells like someone is burning incense and the people above me also seem to either be having a party or a Slamming door competition. This place is dated, which I could deal with, but the lack of quiet is beyond what anyone should have to deal with. I’m supposed to be coming back frequently for continuing education conferences and I most certainly will not be staying here You shouldn’t either...Unless you are in your early 20’s and enjoy the dorm atmosphere.

Dear Wanderingyogi74, Thank you for choosing to stay at the TownePlace Suites East Lansing and for taking the time to provide valued, honest feedback. As a team, we truly strive to provide the experience expected from a Marriott property. I am truly sorry for the noise disruptions encountered from neighbooring guestrooms and public spaces and can certainly understand your frustrations, especially relating to your specific reason for travel and necessity to maintain a consistent sleep schedule. We do enforce a strict 10pm curfew on the patio during warm months. I appreciate you taking the time to provide the details of your experience as it may be utilized both as a valuable training opportunity within the appropriate hotel team and in conversations with our above-property leaders as we seek to implement improvements to the property in the future. Once again, thank you for your valued feedback. If available to do so, we are always happy to assign suites according to your preference, on a higher floor and away from high-traffic areas. We hope to have the opportunity to provide a better experience should your travels bring you back to East Lansing! Amanda N. General Manager
