ENGLISH VERSION Due to a change in our plans, we decided at short notice to stay two nights at Fleischer's hotel. We were late with the booking (same day), but got a double room in the old part. This was a pleasant room furnished in an old style and with a view of Lake Vangsvatnet. Breakfast was in the dining room, also with a view of Lake Vangsvatnet, and we had a window table. The first morning there were a lot of guests due to a wedding the night before, but the waiters were efficiently present and cleaned and ensured that there was sufficient food and drink to serve all the guests. The second morning it was very quiet and there were few guests, so we were alone in the dining room for a while. But we were informed that a great number of guests were expected later that day. Lots to choose from on a sumptous breakfast table. We walked a bit inside the hotel, which is filled with historical objects, pictures on the wall, old menus and references to all the royalties who have visited the hotel throughout the ages. The hotel is located at the railway station, so access to the hotel is very easy. We can recommend Fleischer's Hotel if you want to live in historic surroundings and want to relive the old atmosphere that characterized the hotels on the western coast of Norway a few generations ago. This is a hotel with an incredible charm and atmosphere wrapped in warm and welcoming hotel staff from the first contact when ordering the stay, to the checkin, and last but not least a sincere and kind-heartet mentality from the waiters. Topping it off with a terrific salmon dinner followed with an excellent chocolate fondant with sorbet ice in the evening. Starting the next day with a visit to a fantastic pool, sauna and bubble bath facilities, ending it with a solid breakfast. Pitty that it was just a one day stay. Next time, and there will definitely be a next time, we will go for a lot more... It can't be much better then this :)

Loved our stay. While the room was a little tired it was roomy by European standards. The bar and dining areas are lovely with la number of smaller lounge areas to escape to and the meal was great. The original section of the hotel is beautiful, the adjoining 'newer' section is not so pretty.

Our tour company had booked us into this hotel. We had a lovely view of the railway line, so worth travelling across the globe for. We ate out for dinner and given the choice at breakfast next morning, it was a wise decision. If you’re travelling across to Bergen, don’t bother stopping at Voss.

It makes me sad to read your review. We have a lot of australian guests and I have never had such a complaint before. I am so sorry for the miscommunication you must have had with your travelling company. The hotel has rooms on each side of the building and it is possible to book a room with a view. Keep it in mind for your next travel. I wish you a lovely day!

The hotel was very simple to find just off the main road into Voss, immediately behind the station (almost on the platform !) and opposite the Vangsvatnet lake. The views from the front of the hotel are stunning. The views from the back of the hotel overlook some houses but have a view of the cable cars up to the top of the mountain - and of course over the train station. Our room was situated at the top of the hotel and overlooking the station. The train noise was not really noticeable with the windows closed - only occasionally would we hear the brakes of a train. Lucky the weather was very poor - cooler and very wet so we could have the windows closed - not sure how it would be in hotter, drier weather. Bathroom was very small and our bath had a dreadful leak, and the wallpaper was torn in places and could do with being painted. But the room was generally clean and made up daily - albeit quite late in the day. The room / floor layout is a little odd with floors 3a / 3b only accessible with stairs after getting to the 3rd floor (or was it the second floor) with the elevator. Again not a problem for us as I could carry the cases but something to keep in mind if less able. The breakfasts had a nice selection of food and served until 10am but when busy we found that some selections ran out and were not often replaced. We ate one night in the buffet - it's "ok" but quite expensive for what it was - around NOK650 per person. All the staff were very friendly and flexible as we were able to extend a group of rooms for one extra night instead of staying at an airport hotel.

I would like to express my appreciation for the friendlyness of the staff at Fleischer's hotel here in Voss, I had been out on a very long hike and managed to get an excellent room as a drop in from the very service minded Nils at the check in reception. The beds were comfortable and the coffee in the morning was great and well needed! All the best I will see you again i'm sure! // Val

The hotel is lovely. I had to change rooms because the room I was allocated meant struggling up a circular staircase in the new annex. Hence I got a single room rather than a double, but it was fine. Gentleman on Reception was very helpful. I was travelling with a group, so our dinners were included and we had a choice of two dishes for each course. We all had problems with the main courses. On both nights, the root vegetables were almost raw, requiring a lot of chewing and most people left them. On the second night I had ordered soup. I could not eat it as it was so salty. The chef should realise that salt can be added by diners, but not taken out. Also, doctors are encouraging us to reduce the amout of salt we eat, particularly those of us who have heart problems! As I often eat red deer in Scotland, I was looking forward to the reindeer. This must have been a very old reindeer as it was really tough. Those who had ordered it took about 15 minutes longer with their main course than those who had the fish! Rather than roasting the reindeer this would have been much better if cooked a long time as a casserole.

Fleischer’s Hotel is located next to Voss railway-station. Built in 1864 the hotel offers 110 rooms over 5 floors. The railway opened in 1883. The historical hotel is pleasant and well-maintained. Good Wi-Fi and free pool. Friendly staff. We came on an out-of-season Sunday and found the hotel rather quiet. Most guest were boomers and some families with young children. Our outdated room was adequately furnished and decorated, with an OK twin bed, 2 club chairs & table, TV on the wall, desk & chair, wardrobe & fridge, and tea & Nescafé facility. We had a separate micro bathroom with toilet, tiny washbasin and shower. All was clean. The buffet breakfast is average: bread & toast, cold cuts & cheese, eggs, butter & marmalade, gluten-free items, orange-juice, cereals, milk & yoghurt, old pastries, tea & coffee. We found the Fleischer’s hotel charming & comfortable, and the area is great, but the outdated room, the cramped bathroom and the unimpressive breakfast didn’t invite us to stay longer.

Visited the restaurant with some 40 friends. We had pre booked, and preordered different dishes and yet we got food that only a hand-full of us thought it worth eating. So whilst the building is charming and have lots of history and character i would avoid the food at all costs

This place looks great from the outside, photogenic and historic and the inside public spaces match. The service on reception was also very good. Unfortunately, the room we stayed in was a bit of a mismatch of styles, the bathroom was very dated for example although we did have loads of space, a great view and the bathroom had underfloor heating and a full bath, very uncommon these days. The main reason I wouldn’t stay here again however was the breakfast. Perhaps they were economising as it was mid week and not many guests but the options available were very limited, there were no kitchen staff about and nothing was being topped up so for guests coming down at say 8am, there was whatever was left from 7am, no fresh eggs and very little bread, cheese or cold meats. In this price bracket, guests should be getting something a lot better.
