I didn't realize when booking campsites in Michigan you should start doing it in the winter. It was early spring when I looked, and most places were booked the weekend we were looking to stay, Betsie River had some good reviews, so we gave it a try. we arrived on Thursday to a pretty empty campsite which was nice, we...

We visited this campsite outside of peak season. The site was clean. The bathrooms were clean (and heated!). And the staff were really great. We forgot a couple small items and they were quick to help us out with the things we needed - all with a smile on their faces. It is situated near a small town with a...

We'd never been to the Frankfort area and needed a campsite for a couple of nights. Betsie River had good reviews and it sounded like a good base camp to explore the area. A big fishing event on the Betsie River was taking place and apparently this place is really popular with the fishermen - campground was full and there...

We stayed there five nights. There were some thing we liked and some things we didn't. One thing that really impressed me was the fact that they had big dusk-to-dawn lights, but they didn't use them! Since we have a pop up, ambient lighting is often an issue at night. The staff was very friendly too. It was nice to...

Great campground with clean facilities. Short 5 minute drive to either local Lake Michigan beaches: Frankfort or Elberta. You'll want to go to the Elberta side if you want a place to take your dog. Looking forward to visiting again!

We (husband, 2 elementary age kids, myself) don't normally enjoy campgrounds--we prefer hike-in sites so we can enjoy peace and quiet in nature. However, we needed a place to spend a night before catching a ferry to North Manitou Island, and Betsie River Campsite was one of the nicest campgrounds I've stayed in. It is family run, and the family...

No state campgrounds sites available so took a chance on Betsie River. Homey, small, quiet; clean bathrooms, good hot showers. Nice family run private campground. The pull through sites are very narrow and small, so if you like your space, probably not a good choice. We were in the back row with the tents, 2 sites beside each other, so...

Came here for the weekend with my husband and puppy, and our daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter meet us and we had a fantastic 4 day camping weekend,. We have a pop up and they had a tent, the weather was beautiful and the campsites were clean and quite large. The campground is very well maintained and the owners super friendly...

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend in June this year. Pros: Pleasant staff, camp store where you can buy firewood and other supplies, very affordable, clean grounds, clean restrooms, great location (in the woods, but close to Benzonia for any errands you might need to make). Cons: Only one - I wished the lots were more private....

After reading good reviews, we chose to stay this weekend at Betsie River Campsite. The big fellow at the front desk was not friendly at all. But we did get a site for two nights, right next to the RR. $33 is steep for a small site. The campground sites were packed together. Our campfire was 10 feet from the...
