We chose Grand Marais as our stopover in quick exploration of Upper Peninsula, mainly because it was right on the lake shore and boasted a brewery - well a place that made beer anyway. If you want a location right on the shore you will be hard pressed to beat North Shore Lodge. A short walk out from the room...

The north shore lodge was over priced and way over due for a complete make over. We stayed one night and was horrified by the shape the room was in. We pulled down the bedspread to find a long hair on the blanket. The counters in the bathroom area had not been updated since the 50's or 60's. The price...

Wonderful, cute and cozy lodge with the most friendly people. My husband and I decided to visit the place for a weekend to view the Northern Lights. Our GPS however gave us the wrong directions and we ended up getting stranded on some dirt road with no cell reception after our car got stuck in a ditch. We walked till...

I stayed here one night on a motorcycle trip because of its proximity to M-58 and Pictured Rocks. As we drive up it looks really nice and the sign says it has a restaurant and pool. Spoiler alert.....there is NO restaurant or pool. Anyway, the room was really outdated and old. The green tub and sink we're pretty dirty and...

The location can't be beat and the rates are low. The rooms could use some TLC. Bed was very stiff and I found it odd that there was no phone in the rooms. I felt like no staff was available if we needed something. TV remote didn't work the tv. Overall, it gives you a place to lay your head...

Well typically we research reviews on places we book before we stay. However, we took a chance this time and man do we regret it. I had high hopes after emailing the manager back and forth the day before. She went as far as leaving us a key to get into our room because we arrived after hours. So I...

We were in the building behind the office, closed pool/restaurant on the second floor. The whole place smelled musty and dirty. The room was filthy and dingy. It looked as if there had been some half assed attempt at remodeling and painting by 3 year old kids. Light fixtures were hanging loose and on the outside of the building there...

Where to even begin. The location is great but that is the only good thing about this place. i stayed here the beginning on July for a night. The view was awesome from my room but the room itself was dirty & the bathtub beyond filthy! I didnt take a shower because I didnt want my feet touching the tub....

I stayed two nights at this place. The location is beautiful without question. There are limited choices in Grand Marais. I found this place on the web. They boast that it is remodeled, but fail to mention what year. The rooms are nothing special and certainly overpriced, in my opinion. Thankfully it was rather cool when I stayed there, but...

My husband and I are just back from our first-ever trip to Michigan. We wanted to tour the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and I have to say it was difficult finding accommodations in the region as: 1. there are not many options and 2. many were booked for the two nights I was seeking. North Shore has a drop-dead gorgeous...
