Overall cleanliness. Some maintenance- bathroom room doesn't lock, floor near tub about to fall in, slow drain. Computer in Business Center is not functional King bed for 4 adults with little solution. Only made beds , bottles still left on floor No replenished shampoo/conditioner/soap/towels Old dirty rugs Rusted out toilet Air didn’t work in first room - room that was reserved (2 queens) was not available at check-in. They “accommodated” us with a king room but due to poor condition of the pullout, we moved rooms the second day. To make things easier for the hotel to clean, we left our room before 11am and they said they’d call while we were at lunch to let us know when the new rooms was ready; by 7pm when we returned they had not called us but the room had been ready for several hours - no pullout sheets or blankets were in the room, even though they made us wait an hour to prepare it for us - the elliptical in the gym was not working; treadmill and bike need tuneups - equipment wipes were all dried out - no more in building - trash on the staircase (including cigarette butts) was swept into a pile on a step but left there for several days - overall unpleasant hotel smell - what was that?! - overall cleanliness was disappointing. Sinks not fully clean, mini fridge very dirty, hair and stains on towels, carpet not clean, etc. The managers are not helpful and refuse to provide any type of real resolution or compensation for the horrible stay for a group for 4+ nights…
I checked in last week for a quick 2 night stay with my son for a lacrosse tournament. I noticed that the TV and phone were broken, so I let the front desk know about this. Instead of fixing the problem, on checkout they charged me $500 for a broken TV. I disputed the charge with the front desk, but they refused to remove it. And then they charged me a day later $500 for a broken tub. I immediately called the police. I’ve never broken a tub in my life, and am not sure how to break a tub. I reported fraud to my credit card company and am currently disputing the charges. If I can steer even one person away this hotel, I feel like I’ve done my job. I made a claim with IHG, but they haven’t done a thing about it. So dissatisfied, I’ll never stay at a Holiday Inn Express again. Complete FRAUD!!!!!!…
My wife and I just left this hotel. Not a great experience. I have written a fair number of reviews on many hotels flights and many other vacation experiences. I don’t believe I have ever given anything lower than a 4 on 5 scale The only great thing was the receptionist when we got there. Hotel seemed very dated and drab even though it was supposed to be remodeled. Paid for a king bed but at a maximum more like a queen or double. Once again the front lady took care of us and gave us a credit for the little bed. Breakfast was advertised but it wasn’t continental. More like a contine.breakfast if you get the joke. I poured my milk on the very very very limited selection of cereal and it came out chunky. All the milk on the counter had expired. Even after complaining a lady brought me a new one but i stood by the counter to warn people not to take the milk as noone took the bad milk off. No hot food. Would not advise this location to anyone. It gives Holiday Express a Blackeye…
I don't write bad reviews unless a business is exceptionally terrible but after staying at Holiday Inn Express Kalamazoo East, I would be doing my fellow travelers a disservice if I didn't warn them. On June 5, 2021, I checked in for two nights. Check in was simple. Morgan, the front clerk was very pleasant and remained sweet during all interactions. Unfortunately, it all went down hill after check in. I changed rooms four times - YES, FOUR TIMES! Room #1 was not the type of room requested, I reserved a king but when I opened the room door, I was greeted with two double beds. Okay so I go back to the first desk with my luggage to get the room key for the room type I ordered. Room#2 - Upon walking into the second room, I noticed a large stain in the middle of the king bed and someone had thrown a plastic shopping bag full of garbage outside the window. The room was on the second floor but there is a landing type structure outside the window so you are not looking down at the ground (like a roof) I go back down to the front desk with my luggage because the idea of sleeping in a stained bed and a view of garbage is gross Room#3 - I had high hopes with this room it was clean but.... the sink was nearly clogged and very slowly draining; the toilet was running loudly (constantly) and by the morning, stopped flushing; the tv remote wasn't working; the room telephone had a recording that said to check the internet connection. The next morning, I called the front desk to notify staff of the problems with current room. The manager was working the front desk and apologized and delivered a key to a new room. Room #4 Now that I have a fully functional hotel room but....its dirty! The bed is beautifully made but the toilet bowl is stained - not stained as if the toilet is old but feces stained, dirty bath tub, sticky stuff on one of the tables, and trash in the refrigerator that was left by the previous traveler. I went to the front desk and reported the dirty room to the manager Judy. She assured me that she would get housekeeping to clean the room. I had high hope that this would be taken care of because it was still morning. Yeah right! I left the hotel and was gone all day. I returned about 9:00 or 10:00p.m. and guess what? The room wasn't clean! Toilet was still nasty, bath tub is gross, and trash was still in the refrigerator! I've been bamboozled and hoodwinked! I also feel stupid because I could have check out and went to another hotel I complained to the front desk clerk, no its Jill. Jill was pleasant and apologize. She offered to adjust my bill for each day of my stay. She adjusted that first night and said she would leave a note for the staff to adjust the second day when I check out (the next day). Well, this had to be too easy because the next morning, there was no such note. The front desk person, Morgan again could not find it. She contacted her manager, Judy (remember the one who promised to have the room clean) and rather than giving Morgan permission to adjust the room rate Judy tell her that she will call me the night day - What the hell! Now you know the fun doesn't stop here. I never received that phone call from Judy to adjust the room. When I called, Jill answered the phone and stated that she was adjusting the bill as she spoke with me. Guess what? its been a week and that credit never appeared on my statement unless Fifth Third received and spent it. So I made one last attempt to correct this problem. Today is June 14th and this morning I called to speak with Judy or Jill. Guess what? Neither person was there. Sharon a new employee answered the phone. She was very understanding and asked if I wanted to leave a message. I thanked her but said no thanks. I'm cutting my losses with this company. They lack integrity and I'm too old to waste time on these shenanigans that I can't get back.…
This is a great place to stay. They served hot breakfast (they bring it to you) even during COVID. The room was clean, spacious and the bed delightful. Soft and fluffy! We will be back when we visit WMU. Close enough to campus but not in the middle of campus.
