We returned to the Grand Hotel after 50 years! We were there for a night for our honeymoon and returned to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. It is a beautiful historic hotel with all the amenities. The food is superb and the decor is spectacular.

From visiting Mackinac as a child, I always was awed by the Grand Hotel. Really, there is no other choice of lodging that will live up to staying here if you have never done so. Yes, it is pricey, and yes, the rooms tend to be on the chintzy side in decor, but if you go to Mackinac and don't...

I visited the hotel with 2 friends for the July 4th weekend and it was the first visit for all of us. Perhaps my expectations were that of other grand hotels in Virginia, but this was uniquely better in all aspects of our stay. The beuatiful arrival experience, delicious meals in the grand dining room, large well appointed rooms, rich...

Our stay at the Grand was beyond Grand! Everything from our room to the front desk to the wait staff was beyond compare. The food was delicious and our room was so pretty. I have waited 60 years to sit on that front porch in a rocking chair and I was not disappointed. Thank you, Grand, for making our stay...

A friend and I spent a couple of days at the Grand - simply enjoying the lovely ambience (sitting, reading, knitting - on the world's longest porch!), the perfect service, the elegance throughout the hotel, the art museum, the House Band - for dancing in the evenings, the food.......the beautiful, individually decorated rooms - and the quiet - other than...

This was our fifth visit to the Grand Hotel. Most of our experiences were quite good, but we have had some better in the past. When the prices are higher than elsewhere, more is expected. We think that the dinner menus, although quite good, were not as upscale or exquisitely prepared as on some previous visits or as are offered...

This place is absolutely majestic. A wonderful piece of "history" with beautiful gardens. $10 to visit the hotel and you have full access and this is deducted from the Buffett lunch. Sit on the balcony and try a cocktail and some light snacks. The waitress was funny and friendly.

Gorgeous old hotel with wild wallpaper on the walls but this is what you should expect for a period hotel with history. Staff friendly and attentive food is spectacular and view is gorgeous. 5 stars all around

The views of Lake Huron are spectacular, the grounds beautifully landscaped and the old hotel is indeed grand. I recommend only a short stay -- we were satisfied with one night -- and taking lunch and dinner elsewhere. Make it to breakfast early to ensure getting a table overlooking the porch and water.

Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your time with us, though, we do feel that one day is just not enough time to take in all that Grand Hotel and Mackinac Island have to offer.

Overrated, overpriced, and expensive food. Our luggage tags were not requested at check-in, so our bags were delivered late. Misunderstood type of room booked (online), so dinner wasn't included. Ate nearby but left still hungry after a $23 "meal" of a 2"x4" piece of whitefish and a few chunks of baked artichoke. Room was large, though, with a nice view.
