Our first impression of the hotel was that the staff did not care about customer service. We apparently inconvenienced them with our luggage. The porter was extremely rude! Front desk personnel seemed "put out" checking us in. The air conditioner didn't cool the room. The breakfast featured bagels, day old donuts, and bruised apples. I expected my stay to be...

It's beautiful from the outside and is in an excellent location--but that can be said for nearly every hotel or B&B on Mackinac Island. The breakfast was disappointing (muffins, juice, coffee), the rooms weren't exceptional, and our hosts were lackluster bordering on brusque, not at all the cheerful, friendly hosts/employees we're used to encountering when we stay on the island....

The Windermere is located at the end of the hustle and bustle on Main Street. It has a lovely covered porch from which you can see the bridge, people watch, and view a spectacular array of colorful kites in the sky from the comfort of a wicker rocking chair. The rooms are light and cheery and very clean. They do...

The hotel is located right across from the dock, which was very convenient. It has a wonderful porch to sit, relax, and look at the view. The room was spacious, though dated. The beds have bedspreads which who knows when those are laundered. Our mattress also dipped off to the sides. The pillows were pretty good, so that helped and...

Stayed for our anniversary. We have been staying at the Windermere every year for nearly 20 years. The hotel is extremely well maintained and clean. We have come to be acquainted with the staff and always feel welcome. Each day we find time to sit on their porch and enjoy the amazing scenery that the Windermere opens to. We plan...

The Windermere was completely wonderful: historic, beautiful, great room, ideal location. My Mom and I stayed there for three nights as part of a Mother-Daughter adventure to the island and loved every minute. Our room, a "family suite", was spacious, clean, fresh, equal parts modern and vintage, and thoughtfully appointed. The hotel is close to everything, yet out of the...

We have stayed at the Windermere for the last 3 or 4 years now, and we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. It's a beautiful old building with light, pleasant colors, and clean rooms. The front porch is a HUGE selling point. With nothing to obscure the gorgeous views across the road, you can just sit and relax while anytime...

Perfect place to stay on Mackinac Island. Located just at the edge of downtown so you're close to all the shops and activities, but also not right in the middle of all the craziness. Beautiful view of the straits from the wonderful front porch. Convenient snack shack and beach/park area for hotel guests! Lots of character in the hotel. All...

Start your morning sitting on the front porch. White cushioned wicker chairs. Sunrise. Warm. Mackinac bridge. The lake. A hot cup of black coffee with a little Bailey's. Catch up on your email. It is wonderful. Then watch the horses and freighters. Relax. My favorite island lodging.

To celebrate my sister's recovery from breast cancer, my husband and I decided to take her and her husband, my younger sister, and her husband to Mackinaw Island. We have stayed at the Windemere Hotel a few times and love the quaint style, which takes me back in time of relaxation and downtime. What a wonderful place where we talked,...
