Room was very clean but the smell of smoke was strong near the outside door. Several guests smoked in that area as well as the help, including the person running the desk. I saw several people waiting at the front desk in the morning to check out while the person who was working that job, was sitting outside the door smoking.
The breakfast was more than adequate. There was even complementary hand sanitizer for anyone who wanted it.

I have stated at The Super 8 Hotel located in Tourist Town of Manistee , Michigan three different times . The hotel rooms are " Spacious", ' Modern " and " Extremely Clean " . The " Room Rates " at this hotel are " Extremely Moderate " ! " Hotel Highlight " for me was the " Sensational Continental Breakfast " ( Fresh Cereal , Fresh Muffins , Fresh Doughnuts , Hot and Fresh Coffe and Tea --- E tc .... This is a " Sensational Economy Hotel " . What else can one say ?

Very clean, very affordable, good location, easy access to highway, good well-lit parking... We found the staff very personable, very helpful in directing us to places to go for dinner and breakfast. All in all a good find. Truth is, we had checked in to a different motel and it was so disgusting and dirty that we turned on our heels and went to this place and really relaxed when we saw how clean and neat it was.

What might it smell like if Shrek opened a dive bar, you ask? Inhale the answer at the Super 8 Manistee, where every room is infused with a pungent, proprietary odor of swampy cigarette. The hard, gritty floors offer a fossil record of the carpet that once covered this hotel, but any softness has long since worn away and shoes are recommended at all times. The saying "nature always finds a way" has rarely been more true than in the grotto-like bathrooms, where guests willing to brave the stagnant air can observe a variety of lichens and slime molds thriving in extreme conditions. Each room comes equipped with a gunky, warm water faucet, a slippery television remote and a brown arm chair that doubles as a convenient cigarette extinguisher and soup absorber.

first of all it's a super 8 in Manistee, my expectations were not very high. when checking in the person checking us in informed us they were out of soap, it was on back order and the manager was aware of it but nothing she could do.
She told there was extra shampoo in the room and use that or we could go to the store and buy our own. Why didn't they do that?
The breakfast was a bag "to go" with a small granola bar, a small muffin, a small warm yogurt and a small warm water. YUM YUM
It's a super 8 that charged $150.00 per night, for an average super 8 room
Look elsewhere, you deserve better for your money.

I hated my stay here. We picked this place after sailing over to MI from WI on the car ferry. It seemed like a reasonable distance before continuing our journey. I thought it would have a nice view of the small lake in the town based on its location. You could see the lake from the hotel, but not from our room.
The room I selected was expensive, one of the most expensive rooms in the hotel. It was no different from any other cheap, generic hotel room except it had a hot tub in it and a shower. I should have saved my money. I just wanted a nice King suite.
One of the things I really hated about the virus is that it caused most hotels to shut down their breakfast buffets. Instead of hot breakfasts where you can serve yourself, you were given a bag of carbs to go. Thankfully this practice has died out, and has been dead for a long time as the virus diminished. Not here.
In June 2022, the management of this hotel is claiming that the risk of covid prevents them from providing a buffet, hot breakfast. I don't know it for a fact, but it would be my opinion the way that this hotel is run that it is simply a money making exercise, squeeze as much out of the hotel as possible, who cares about a good experience for the guests.
I've tried to think of something good to say about this place. I can't think of much. I slept OK is about all I can do.
Apparently there are only 4 hotels in Manistee. Based on my experience, you'd be better served at one of the other ones.

Room was comfortable and standard with microwave and refrigerator, but with COVID 19 cancellations of area events, a handicap accessible room with 1 queen bed for $250 was too much. However, the numerous dead deer in late evening hours with unknown road construction area ahead, we paid. The shower curtain was not adequate to keep water from running out onto the floor when showering. Bagged granola bars, yogurt or hard boiled egg and fruit gummy snacks was their breakfast. When I asked for a bowl to make my own oatmeal in my room, desk clerk said she had none. When I checked out, that desk said the other person just did not know where bowls were. Smokers near the entrance doors not pleasant.

The people that work here r always so nice. The rooms r comfortable, and it's a nice clean place. Because of the pandemic they weren't serving breakfast but they had to-go bags. If ur a big breakfast eater bring ur own because the bags have a small water and a granola bar and fruit snacks. I think for a place to stay that's well worth the price u can't go wrong here.

Based on reviews, I had much higher expectations. We arrived late and checked in with a less than pleasant individual at front desk. There was no elevator for our bags. When we got upstairs, there was a horrible stench in the hallway, and permeated the door to our room, which was next to laundry unit. Very sketchy clientele hanging out next to laundry. Dirty sheets that appeared to be grease, hole in the bathroom door… seemed as if hotel had not been updated in many years. Sorry we did not take pictures.

Room was over 100 degrees upon check in, Hotel did not enforce no smoking, place smelled like weed. charged $200 for at best a $50 room. There is no elevator at the facility. Everything is outdated. The security doors did not lock.

Not entirely sure, but most Super 8's are pet friendly-for a fee of course!
We didn't go to the casino either. I didn't see a shuttle van in the casino parking lot when I went by either.
