The rooms are generous with classic decor and 20 foot ceilings. There are standard, fireplace and suite accommodations to chose from. There is a large lobby over looking the main corner in the downtown. This property is a short walk from the Lake Michigan Shore. A Riverwalk/boardwalk is situated just a few steps in front of the hotel for your strolling pleasure. A Casino is located within 7 minutes and their shuttle will pick you up! Rooms are set up with coffee, alarm clocks, cable television, dvd player, WiFi. 4 rooms and 2 suites offer an electric fireplace. Linens are lush, mattresses were custom made for comfort. Please know, due to our Historical designation Elevators were not required. Restored staircases lead you one or 2 levels up to your room.

What a hidden gem! This B&B makes you feel like you have been transported back in time. Back in time but without giving up modern conveniences. The bed was so comfortable! We checked in after the normal hours, but we’re able to pick up our key at the pub that is underneath the inn. The welcome snack package was greatly appreciated.

Our room was clean and huge - had sitting room with fireplace with table and chairs in the turret.

For as old as this building is, there is not an overwhelming smell of dust or mildew. They have done an awesome job to restore this landmark in the heart of the downtown.

Please note: there are no elevators and in our room (4E) there were 3 additional stairs. Nothing that hindered us but just an FYI for anyone who may have mobility concerns.

We love the old world charm of this small hotel in a historical building in downtown Manistee. The woodwork is beautiful. Our room was cozy, comfortable & filled with light thanks to a big window overlooking quant downtown Manistee. Our party rented two rooms. We checked in with the front desk, but found that one of the rooms had not been cleaned. The unmade bed been had been slept in and there were dirty towels in the bathroom. There are no phones in the rooms, so we went downstairs to the front desk to let them know. We were leaving soon, so they serviced the room while we were out. They apologized and said we would be given a discount, which they did not follow through with.
The other room had a dirty bathroom floor-hairs on the floor and popcorn under the bead, and they did not have any soap or shampoo in the bathroom.
A little additional cleaning and maintenance could go a long way in making this lovely hotel into a wonderful place to stay. We also wished they had either nicer coffee service in the room (include liquid coffee creamer), or have coffee available in the lobby. We woke up on Sunday morning and there was no business in the area that sold coffee. We had to drive to get coffee, but would have enjoyed buying a good cup of coffee and walking along the nearby river walk.
rating as 4 stars because I’m hoping the missteps are simply a result of the current staffing crisis in the service industry. I hope we have another occasion to stay in Manistee, and if we do, we would stay there again.

Hi there! Thank you for staying with us and we do appreciate the review! I apologize for some of the issues we found as we are experiencing a major shortage in staff right now which has forced us to limit our lobby hours. You will be issued your discount for the inconvenience of waiting for your room to be cleaned. Again I apologize for the issues and please know they will be addressed! Thank you again!

We stayed here for one night after we did the M 22 scenic route. What a cool and quaint hotel. The front desk clerk was super friendly, and answered questions I had. They are only open for a limited time, so make sure you read the instructions. The room is very clean and spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. We would stay here again if we were in the area.

Large spacious rooms, giant comfy beds with such clean linens. Absolutely loved the room! This hotel is an old bank, kept in beautiful condition, like stepping back in time. The town is beautiful, running along a river going out to Lake Michigan, which is very close by. Nice shopping and the town is immaculate. The only negative on the hotel is there is no elevator, so a lot of steps up and down, so for that reason I probably would not stay at this hotel again. Sure wish they would install an elevator! The picture featured is the actual room I stayed in!

Did a 3 day getaway weekend. The Inn was quiet and charming. Staff was very friendly and they actually provided daily room service. Didn’t even know that existed anymore. TJs Pub is connected to the Inn and is perfect for dinner and drinks. The Inn is located perfectly in the heart of Manistee. I would highly recommend.

My husband planned a quick get away, combination birthday celebration and fall color tour. He had heard good things about the Ramsdell Inn and it did not disappoint. Quiet spacious room, great combination of old & new. Bed was very comfy, updated bathroom with ample hot water pressure.

We stayed with 3 couples last weekend and loved everything. Lindsey the owner was great...running around doing everything from cleaning the rooms to answering the phone and working in the restaurant downstairs. The lobby area is beautiful. Two of us had King rooms, The Jefferson and The Hollister. Beautiful and comfortable. We asked for more hangers and extra coffee for the room and were accommodated. We also were lucky enough to get reservations (thank you Lindsey) at the pub downstairs for Saturday night Prime Rib! Everything was great would definitely stay here again.

The rooms are clean. And comfortable. But you will not sleep. Why? Because the rooms are atop a bar that is loud and the traffic is ridiculously loud. The high cost of the rooms is simply unwarranted given the sound problems.

Response from Dannette H, General Manager at The Ramsdell Inn

In response to this review. This customer is a very competitive cyclist desiring an early bedtime. He choose a downtown location on a summer evening and expected silence, and I do mean silence. We have never had a noise complaint regarding our pub. Our building is constructed of brick, mortar and steel. The pub level is a full 2 stories away from the sleeping quarters and is contained under ground. We did our best to satisfy this guest but to no avail. We spoke to a group of our customers that were smoking outside and asked that they speak more softly, they promptly reentered the pub. Over and over this gent complained..over and over we tried to satisfy. Our building is directly across from the police station, and is one of the earliest bars in town to close. There is not a prevalence of loitering, or monkey business that goes on. It always pains us to know a customer is not satisfied, and does not find this to be a great experience. We wanted nothing more than to satisfy this guest. What he asked of us was unreasonable and couldn't be accommodated. We are on a corner, downtown, in a small tourist town. There is some degree of traffic via vehicle and foot that we cannot control. In reviewing this gentleman's file, he has very little to say that is positive about any property. Thank you for reviewing this file. We appreciate your time..

My wife and I are just returning from a 2 night stay at the Ramsdell. We had one of the smaller rooms, the Morton. We are so glad that we found this place. The Inn is right in the middle of everything in quiet downtown Manistee. All you have to do is step out the door and you are at your desintation. Everything is within walking distance. There is the riverwalk to Lake Michigan, downtown shopping, and dining. We can't wait to go back. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were very clean and well appointed.

If you want to stay somewhere cheap, go hit the Microtel. Also, this is an Inn and not a Hotel. If you want value and conveience, the Ramsdell is the place. There is no better place to stay in the area!

We stayed here for 2 nights in late June, in the Harbor Suite - on the top floor of the Inn, with partial Manistee River views.

The suite was beautifully decorated, and the standards of bedding and furnishing were excellent.

Breakfast was included - simply muffins and coffee laid out in the reception hall.

A great little place, right in the middle of the town, walking distance to all shops, riverwalk and out to Lake Michigan.

One word of warning - there are no elevators in the hotel, so walking up 3 floors of stairs, gives you a good workout - especially with heavy suitcases!

If you like comfort - you'll like the Ramsdell Inn.

Hi Pam! Yes, our rooms are air conditioned and we ask for a 48 hour notice of cancellation. I would recommend the Dunham on the 4th floor for the best view! Thank you for contacting us and please let us know if there's anything else we can help with!

I am thinking the Ramsdell, being an old history icon of Manistee, it would not have the facilities that you might require. I think the Little River Cascino might be a better choice for what you need. Check with the Ramsdell owner....Linsey.
