Leon, our guide, is a lovely man and great person to hang out with for a day or two in the bush. Tents are great, clean - spacious - large. Food and bar - great. Nothing can beat this: we went into Otosha Park, it was boring and tame in comparison. 100% recommend, a truly great african experience. The game...

Part of a wonderful reserve that offers a range of experiences. The tented camp is down in the bush, next to a waterhole and close to the animals (including water buck, unusually for the area). We went on a game drive and saw a number of Rhino, but we particularly enjoyed our morning walk with Bono, a very interesting guide....

We enjoyed this camp very much. The tent was very comfortable. We especially liked the water bottle in our bed. If you are here is July, it is very cold at night and you do need a warm coat. Because there are rhinos and lions around you need a guide back to your tent when it is dark. The shower...

This is a good place - easy to find and great fun driving through the concession to the camp. This was our first experience of self drive and it's very exciting! A warm (and the customary cool cloth) welcome awaits. We had 3 days here which was great - could have probably done another one and wish we had opted...

This is on a private Ongava reserve so it is more private yet very close to Etosha Game Reserve...thus the best of both worlds. The water hole on site can get very busy and we delayed dinner one night as 5 Rhinos including a baby decided to come get a drink. The animals take turns, one group waiting up trail...

ongava tented camp is a surprise. Actually a luxurious tent, with all comforts and nicely decorated. Good food and a hot water bottle under our sheets each night to warm up is an excellent idea! Staff very friendly and helpful. The water hole right in front of the main area is an excellent opportunity to view widlife so close by....

The tents take "glamping" to a new level, with comfortable bed, electricity, and full bathroom with a flush toilet and a shower. The camp is fully open to the animals, and guests are asked to not leave their tents at night without a staff escort who carries a rifle. The Ongava Game Reserve is next door to Etosha. Like most...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ongava Tented Camp is tucked into a hidden valley at the foot of a dolomite hill in Ongava Game Reserve bordering Etosha National Park. Eight large comfortable Meru-style tents all have en-suite facilities, open air showers and private verandas; the family unit sleeps four. The main area, built of stone, canvas and thatch, fronts onto a much-frequented waterhole; watching wildlife coming to drink from here or from the swimming pool is a favourite pastime.Ongava's proximity to Etosha allows for game drives in the National Park and on the Ongava Reserve itself. Other possibilities include guided walks, birding and spending time in hides. Ongava holds one of the largest rhino custodianships for the Namibian government in the country and is one of the few private game reserves in southern Africa where guests can see both black and white rhino. ... more   less

Hello John,

Thank you for your question, however, i fear you may have the wrong information or at least wrong Lodge. Ongava Tented has no opportunity for Fly-fishing being situated on the outskirts of Etosha National Park.

Could you please send us a direct message or take a look at the Wilderness Safaris website for further info where there is also a link to contact our enquiries department and a highly informed, dedicated Journey Specialist will contact you timeously.

Hoping we are able to assist you with your upcoming trip,

Wilderness Safaris.

Hello Lucyjames,

with the number of things to do in camp, on the Ongava Reserve and even into the Etosha National Park, many guests find that 3 nights is the perfect amount of time as you do not feel rushed and get some time to relax in between game drives to and enjoy the ongoings of the bustling water hole in front of camp.

But before making solid plans you would need to check with your Travel Agent and ensure there is space and availability for you to add the third night.

Let us know if there is anything else we can help you with,

Wilderness Safaris Customer Care.

Thank you, Diverdoc, for your question, and apologies for the needless worry here; your booking is confirmed and safe!

Wilderness Safaris and the Ongava Reserve have indeed renegotiated their current contractual partnership, however we will still be working very closely together, and Wilderness Safaris will continue to market and sell the Ongava camps with great confidence. The only difference is that Ongava will no longer fall under the Wilderness Safaris brand. The Ongava Reserve has always been independently owned and will continue to operate with the same brilliant staff and high standards they have done in the past.

Therefore, rest assured this will have no impact on your current booking whatsoever. It will remain as is and we are certain you will enjoy your next journey with us as much as your recent visit.

Wilderness Safaris and the Ongava Reserve look forward to seeing you again next year.
