This Lodge is not on the main road, it is a very silent place in a stony desert. The restaurant is very good and the food is fresh prepared. If they have a lot of guests, the offer a BBQ, if there are only a few guests, they serve dinner at the table. The service is good and very friendly,...

Beautiful and restful! We loved the wide open spaces and quaint chalets. The front office was rather disorganised and mixed up our bill and didn't seem too concerned. They missed many items on the bill and put our bill on our friends etc. Overall it was a great stay.

Beautifully set up lodge, great garden with Oryx all around, awesome swimming pool corner, great intimacy in the rooms, beautiful view. The rooms up the hills, built within the stones have incredible architecture and offer a superb view! Internet working great in the reception and lounge area. Maybe one potential improvement would be to offer a mini-fridge in the rooms....

We stayed two nights here and it is a beautiful place . The care and thought that goes into creating this place is evident in the individual rooms built around the rocks and boulders. There is even air conditioning in the rooms. A couple of oryxes roam in the compound. The colors of sunrise and sunset are amazing, so is...

It's quite in the wilderness. You have a wonderfull view and stargazers will love the place. The rooms are nice, the staff also. There weren't many people so there was no buffet but simple food served cold or warm at will, meat was always overcooked. They have a great selection of wine that is served perfectly chilled.

This was the most expensive accommodation for our entire trip to Namibia and definitely the worst value. The chalet was nice but not amazing, the buffet dinner was average and there was a poor selection for breakfast compared with other places we went to on our trip. We paid nearly double the price compared to other lodges elsewhere in Namibia...

The Hotel is well situated for visiting Fish River Canyon. The rooms are small but are very comfortable. Dinner was expensive for a buffet meal and there is no nearby alternative. A one night stay should suffice to view the Canyon

I stayed here for New year 2014. Drove for miles and miles and came to this oasis in the middle of the desert. I can't describe this place, just go and experience it. But you must use the pool, then write your own review.

We had a lovely stay at the Canyon Lodge. The setting was breathtaking. All rooms were chalets built between the rocks. The swimming pool had a breathtaking view, including a stunning sunset! The staff however was a bit "dull" and the buffet was pricey for the delivered quality.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The harsh rocky desert region at the southern tip of Namibia has made many a traveller think that God has forgotten this land. Not so, just 20 kilometres from the main viewpoint of the Fish River Canyon, leading off the dusty D324, you’ll find the Canon Lodge, an oasis seemingly in the middle of nowhere. The Canon Lodge is one of two existing accommodation centres in the expanse of the 530 km² Gondwana Canon Park. Tall weather-beaten granite boulders mark the location of the lodge and forms an integral part of the overall design. The 20 thatch stone bungalows are dotted among the kopies and are beautifully designed, with the walls shaped around the hills so that boulders protrude into your room, cool to the touch and smoothly rounded by an eternity of erosion. ... more   less
