We stayed there with our Sri Lankan friends the week before the prices doubled for the high season. The hotel had been recently refurbished and the rooms, balconies and lobbies were clean and bright and WIFI access was free. The third floor is still being reburbished The AC worked, however, the showers were very hit and miss - they had...

This is a quiet hotel, we trusted Lonely Planet and showed up there with no booking, anyway all the rooms were available. The owner was nice at first sight, we talked a long time, he explained his story about tsunami etc so we thought he was a great guy but he turned out not to be. 1. We waited 3...

What a rip off. Bargained them down to 4500 rupees as it was deserted when we arrived and we had intended to stay for 4 or 5 days. However after an hour we knew the choice was bad when we saw the kitchen....appallingly filthy as if a.monkey had been in and destroyed absolutely everything. "No monkeys" said the cook. Also...

Just do not stay here. I could slap myself agreeig on 5500 Rs a night for this. Although the building was constructed 3 or 4 years ago, it's just a mess: worn, dirty, insufficient furnished, 1 ac remote for all rooms, mold in batroom, green algee in the tap water and so on. Under no circumstances eat here: in the...

We arrived at Nilveli beach without a place to stay. Turns out the guesthouses and hostels are quite spread out here so it made finding a place to stay on arrival difficult. We arrived at the guesthouse and unfortunately didn't look inside before out tuktuk left. We are usually happy with the most basic of accommodation but the rooms here...

“You can ask to see all the available rooms & pick what you like out of them, when checking in. If the local spices & food are a concern, carry packaged / canned food. The guest house will certainly store or cook them for you. or even allow you to cook to your taste in their kitchen.”
