This hotel is situated a 5 minute walk from the main square and cathedral. It is a converted convent that used to belong to the church next door. A lot of the objects and rooms have been kept giving it a lovely atmosphere. The room was clean and tidy with 2 double beds, TV, WiFi and air conditioning. A separate pool towel was already in the closet for you to use. The pool is small but clean and refreshing. Breakfast was buffet style. Only on my 3rd morning was I offered an omelette but there was bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, plantin and halumi cheese on offer with bread/toast, yoghurts and fruit. The courtyard has designed bushes and a large fountain that the birds used to cool off in! Peaceful to sit and read or just watch the birds. Would recommend.

I would very much recommend El Convento if you're staying in León. The rooms are nice and comfortable with powerful aircon! Location is also great, just a short walk from the centre and also from a big supermarket (La Colonia) should you want to stock up on anything. Staff were also very friendly and helpful, helping me to arrange a hiking day trip as well as transportation to my next destination. Perhaps most impressive, though, is the lovely old convent in which the hotel is located, which includes an impressively landscaped courtyard and passageways as well as areas to sit that make the place a very nice place to come back to every day.

I stayed at the Hotel El Convento for 6 weeks and it was wonderful. The colonial charm of the city is amplified and refined at this wonderful hotel. The staff is amazing and will do everything in their capacity to assist and accommodate you. In the heart of the city, there are many places to eat, drink, and visit within walking distance.

We only stayed here for one night and the room was full of mosquitos, so bad that we had to go to a supermarket to buy a can of fly spray. The hotel is an old convent and there is iconography everywhere, which is different. The breakfast was okay but not outstanding. There is a small pool which is refreshing after a hot and sweaty day travelling around the area.

A fantastic hotel! The rooms are large and spacious. We had two king size beds. There was air conditioning. The bathroom was large and nice with toiletries. We had a room facing the street but we heard no noise. The breakfast buffet was delicious with boats, fruit, bread and local dishes. The staff are incredibly nice and welcoming. The hotel has the most beautiful garden with a small fountain where you can sit and enjoy the silence. We would love to stay here again.

If you go to Nicaragua in August, be prepared. The heat and humidity are oppressive. Personally I could not spend more than a couple of hours out on the streets before going back to the hotel, drenched to the skin with sweat and exhausted. In such a situation, a hotel like El Convento is invaluable. It offers a well located, peaceful, and cool respite. My room was good sized, and the air conditioning was icy cold. And my king sized bed, a snowy white mountain, was a godsend in that tropical climate. The staff was lovely and the breakfast was very good. During an extended trip through Mexico and Central America, I would say this was my favorite hotel. A real treat

Beautiful hotel. Rooms are a bit dark. Very good breakfast. The only downside is staff is not aware of how they should act in one of the best hotels in town. Loud floor cleaning during breakfast, security guards shouting in front of the window at 5.30am and watching soap operas on speaket all around the premises, meaning relaxing at the pool is only possibla after you tell them. I got 6 delicious chocolate truffels and a reduced rate due to low season. All in all it was a good deal.

Beautiful hotel in the center of Leon. There’s a courtyard with a beautiful garden. Very close to the main square and many restaurants. Price was very reasonable with delicious breakfast included. The room was a bit dark but clean, and good sized bedroom and bathroom.

Very pretty grounds, central location essentially at the core of Leon, clean room, good bed, good AC, good fast internet worked for streaming no problem, friendly staff, safe secure free parking. The free breakfast was fine and adequate but not exciting. Totally meets expectations. I recommend.
