Superb quiet hotel.
Huge swimming pool in the shade!
Very caring staff and really very available and attentive.
Breakfast, hearty and really varied!
Magical setting...
The only downside... air conditioning in the rooms would be a plus! But we adapt!
I recommend with my eyes closed!

We stayed in Hotel La Palombe for 6 days in August 2014 with our 2 daughters of 11 and 13 for a cycling holiday in the Lac du Salagou region (booked via Safran Tours).
We very much enjoyed the personal attention and kindness of staff of the hotel. Margrit is a great host. The swimming pool was great after a cycling day, especially after the last part uphill.
Having dinner every evening in the adjacent restaurant La Palombe was a great pleasure too. The dishes were delicious, and we also had plenty of choice of good quality Languedoc wines from the region (try the Saut du Diable of the Trois Terres wineyard!). Upon our request, the chef even made special dishes (besides the menu) for our children, which they much enjoyed.
If you are at La Palombe, do not forget to walk a bit uphill in the direction of Lodeze. You will be rewarded with a great view on Lac du Salagou!

La Palombe is in a beautiful situation with lovely plants and shrubs surrounding the old stone walls and arches. Our room was unusual with a spacious sitting and dining area and loft bedroom. The rooms was clean and afforded an excellent view of the area.
Breakfast was continental but plentiful with cheese meats and fruit attractively displayed.
we ate twice at the hotel and both times the food was very good.
I would recommend this place for the peaceful and pretty situation and friendly staff..

Hotel La Palombe near Octon in France is a very simple hotel in a beautiful surrounding. The rooms are very simple, some haven't even a fridge. So ask for a room with a fridge. The bathroom is okay BUT make sure you remove the little saucer in the shower, it's because the bathroom is a bit smelly and the saucer is there to shut off the drain. So if you don't remove it, your bathroom will be flooded. It would have been sensible to put a note somewhere about this peculiarity.
Make sure you get a room with a view! Our room looked out on the (quiet) autoway and the parking and as there were no thin curtains for privacy, we had to close the other ones all the time. There was a balcony on our first floor, but no view at all, apart from the stars during the night.
The breakfast was continental but more than okay. The female manager is very friendly.
Across the road is a very simple restaurant.

This hotel restaurant is tucked away on a hill above Octon near Lake Saligou. It was recommended to us by our landlady as we are living nearby. Now we wouldn't eat out anywhere else in this location. We had the set menus for 36 euros and 42 euros. The more expensive having more seafood. Lots of little taste surprises brought to our table on top of the dishes on the menu. Such a sgarlic soup and hors d'oeuvres. Goats cheese starter and seafood tuille were magnificent. Two different fish of the day with fennel, braised lettuce vegetable cannelloni and mash potatoe. The waiter speaks excellent English. Deserts were just fantastic. Poached peach with almond icecream and strawberries with sorbet. The presentation of all dishes were jaw dropping. Price was very reasonable, about 100 Euros with wine.

Being a hotel planner, and professor in the field of hospitality infrastructure I have to say I owe respect to good projects in the field. Here solutions appeared that were not to be seen elsewhere: in modesty (not being obvious or seen in other cases, as said). It started with an oxymoron: the abandoned village... and the perpetual hypothesis: - why not make a hotel out of it? For example this visited and revisited theme could prove boring. Here at La Palombe it is absolutely not the case: a road is crossing the place, and looks so quiet you believe ti is YOUR private road. Then the volumes appear one after the other, by surprise when you walk through. Atrium and front desk space is a doubler vie inner ring new arcade building incrusted into the volumes. Distribution is very intelligent and comfortable. We got to know our two rooms one flat with open space bath, but not without intimacy and angles, to terraces as balconies. And our room a sort of small duplex habitat with a huge terrace over all roofs of the village hotel and kilometers of woods. And a private valley for our own eyes. Exquisite, relaxing, comfortable, designer furniture, nice welcome. A new Eden ?

My father & step mother live in the near by village of Octon & suggested we try La Palombe for an evening meal. The food was amazing!! Top quality & beautiful on the plate! The wine was also good. Our server was fantastic - knowlegable & polite. Well worth a visit, great value for money ....

This is a lovely restaurant in close proximity to Country Kids. The service was excellent and the meal was beautiful, with a great selection of reasonably priced local wines. There were 8 of us. Note that they prefer large groups to order off the same menu (they have two).

non pas de télé mais honnêtement ça fait du bien !!
"We had a small kitchen in our room which was helpfull for keeping our picnic stuff cooled in the refrigerator. We also understood there are rooms with a small terrace, which we did not have, but there is plenty of space near and adjacent to the swimming pool, to sit outside and read a book or otherwise."Read full review
