We are very happy with our choice to stay here. Very clean and decorated beautifully...knotty pine walls inside and beautifully carved wooden figures on outside walls of each room. Comfortable and feels like home.

Very clean rooms. The owner takes pride in the motel. The rooms are cute, knotty pine. We are on a bike tour. The room didn't have a microwave or frig, but he let us put our stuff in his frig and there was coffee in the morning. No AC, but not generally needed in the UP. There was a ceiling...

A bike tour with two friends brought me to Newberry in July. Since we are not campers, we had made a reservation at the Gateway. Our suite had two rooms and three beds, so it was perfect for the three of us. It was decorated much more like a bedroom in someone's home than a hotel, complete with blue towels...

We always stay at mom 'n' pops when traveling, and this one was okay. Price was reasonable and hosts were friendly, and they had a room at the last minute. Room was average - 1970 decor, no fridge or micro, no bathtub. The shower either needed a good scrubbing or to be replaced. Bed was a little broken-down soft, but...

Prices were very reasonable and this older motel has nicely decorated, very clean rooms. Showers were new but could have a little more water pressure. A neat addition was each room has a small selection of books and magazines. The TV's are older but the cable channel selection was very good. The rooms have a cabin feel. This would be...

I have stayed in this motel many times - pretty much every time I am in the area. It's a bit kitchy, but the rooms are clean and comfortable. The suit works well for us as no one has to share beds. I will definitely continue to stay here!

This little place is immaculate! The owners are very friendly. If you are looking for a buch of ammenities, like the chains, forget it. This is a down home, sweet little place that reminds me of the motels of my youth. There was a clean bathroom, beds, and flat screen tv with wifi, so many nice things, but no blow...

This is a very nice motel to stay at the rooms are clean and the owers are very nice. Rooms are not real big, but they are comfortable and decor is very up north. Price is very reasonable. They have coffee in office starting at 7:00, you can walk Newberry from this motel. Up that way give them a try.

Stayed at a few places in this area. Basically nothing open off season on US 2 from Brevort to Gould City off season. Good rate, like the others said it's dated but clean and warm. And believe me it gets cold up there in January , February. Very nice and plan on stating there again. Can't see forking out over...

We arrived at about 8pm with no reservation in late September. The room was clean and the right price. No grimy bathroom here (fixtures replaced, nothing old), and while the room was dated, it was clean, and decorated more carefully than any other hotel room I've been in. Beds comfortable and hotel quiet (again, off-season). A breakfast was the only...
