I made my reservation based on the recommendation of a tour operator I was planning a bicycle tour around the Leelenau Peninsula. It wasn't until the night before my stay there that I read the previous reviews. I was quite scared. Upon arrival I noticed that most of the "art" mentioned in the previous reviews was removed from the property....

This is an old house packed with not just antiques but tons of knick-knacks and oddities that won't appeal to some people - like the religious theme of the shared bathroom. The service was fine - nothing over the top. Because of the age of the house, our room had an old, musty smell to it. Some reviewers obviously found...

After reading the other reviews I was hesitant to make a reservation. I hate mystery stories and this place sounded macabre. Well, I am glad we went. David is a gracious host and does a gourmet presentation with his breakfast of an omelet, English muffin, fresh fruit, and coffee. The place is for sale, and David has a consignment shop...

My son took his girlfriend here for their anniversary and when he came back, he said "Mom, you have to stay there. It's so you." And he was right. My husband and I just stayed there for our anniversary and I was taken with the place. Some people want cookie-cutter lodging so they know what they are getting, and I...

The owner of the Old Mill Pond is David Croback, an artist who has lived there for 25 years and has run his B&B for about that long too. He also caters food and organises all sorts of events in the area. As I travelled around visiting various farms and wineries, I would mention his name and people’s faces would...

Upon seeing the face in the guardhouse window as I approached the houseI knew I was in for something special and I was correct. David has created an atmosphere which seduces, stimulates, transports, amuses, challenges. This house with its range of styles from kitch to fine art exudes humor. The manequins in dated evening wear are a great comic touch...

Reading these reviews is depressing....typical of the closed minded mid-western attitudes that I have encountered elsewhere. I believe that this B&B and the gracious host is a hidden gem absolutely under-appreciated by these guests and probably by many in his community. For those of you who want conformity, please don't terrorize this sweet man and his dog and instead head...

I should've taken a clue when every other hotel in the area was booked and this B&B offered plenty of vacancies. When asking the locals for directions to the place they burst into laughter. Driving in I got chills up and down my spine as I was greeted by a strange manequin placed inside a run down toll booth. The...

I almost did not stay here after reading the existing reviews - thankfully, I ignored them! If you have even just one teensy ounce of creativity or imagination, this is a wonderful place to stay. If you are looking for a standard-issue motel or basic lodging, well, then yes, it is not for you. Go stay 22 miles south for...

We arrived at the Inn and no one was there. While looking through the house we felt claustrophic as every inch is filled with unique nic-naks like stuffed owls and birds. This was not a place to sit around and feel comfortable. Food was left out on the kitchen counter uncovered. The house smelt musty. There were many mannequins that...
