I made a reservation at the Courtyard by Detroit's airport after flight disruptions unexpectedly kept me in Detroit. As I didn't have my bags or any personal toiletries, I requested soap, lotion, a toothbrush with toothpaste, deodorant, and a shaving kit. The basic toiletries that all hotels provide in a room or offer free of charge upon request. My nightly rate was over $200 with taxes. Ahmed at the front desk, who falsely identified himself as the general manager, refused to provide me with the toiletries for free. The hotel wouldn't even give me a bar of soap. Besides the horrible customer service and guest relations, there were other issues with the Courtyard by Marriott Detroit Metro Airport Romulus: 1) The bar/restaurant was closed on a Friday evening, despite being advertised as being open. 2) No breakfast vouchers were provided, even though breakfast was included in my nightly rate. 3) No information about airport shuttle, breakfast hours, etc. was provided at check-in. 4) The room is very old and outdated by several years. While mostly clean, everything except the TV was felt 7 to 8 years overdue for an exhaustive renovation. The room looked unchanged from the Courtyard designs of 2003-2006. I ended up leaving the hotel and going elsewhere. Under no circumstances would I return or recommend this hotel.

I chose this hotel due to the distance to my business meetings locations and the airport, but god, what a terrible service! I stayed 20 nights and they never cleaned the room! I complained several times and nothing happened... The breakfast was included but the restaurant is not always opened and closes early.

Would NOT call it #1 as listed on trip advisor - barely acceptable as an overnight airport hotel. We arrived tired and hungry. Shuttle driver was above & beyond and very kind - gave us water and tissue paper for any drips. “Bistro” = burned food, hardly could eat it and my kids were past dinner time and hungry. No other restaurants around. Hallway smelled of fresh marijuana on our floor. Didn’t smell in our room so we slept the 6 hours until our flight, put a towel by the front door. Shuttle service was prompt, but please FIX THE SEAT BELTS. Both shuttles we rode had defective buckles in the first row (one buckle was quite deliberately covered by black duct tape, another was stuck in the slot in between seats, couldn’t get free to buckle).

I would strongly not recommend. We had a very awkward, uncomfortable experience that rendered our attempt to have a quick overnight before an early flight useless. It was on the account of neighboring occupants being extremely inconsiderate and loud at 1:00 AM. Staff exhausted all safe means to address the issue, so I asked whether we could have a refund considering we would not be sleeping at all as hoped. I received apologies but was told that we could not be given a refund based on solely what was happening next door. Expensive rate for basically a holding area with a private bathroom.

We stay at Marriotts all the time and check in with Alicia was the best ever. She was so helpful, informative and personable. Her great personality shines through. Brittany at the bistro was top notch also. Parking was easy and room was very comfortable!

Quiet, Safe and clean. Perfect for business in the area of the airport. I would especially like to thank Rhonda at the front desk. She was very courteous and professional. Her knowledge of the area was very helpful to us and she seemed to really enjoy helping the customers. Thank you Rhonda!!

Website shows KEY AMENITIES include free breakfast and a pool. Neither were included with my stay. Hotel staff told us in the morning that breakfast is offered only on the weekends. The website clearly indicated the pool was open. Hotel appears 20+ years old and could use a remodel. The bed was comfortable and the shuttle was as advertised. Loud airplane take off noise every 3-5 minutes was to be expected due to proximity to the airport. I was offered a free cancellation because of the pool being closed but it was too late to try to rebook something else.

I was looking for a safe, clean, quiet place to rest my head during a short trip to Detroit. I was there on a few weekdays, quiet would be an understatement. I'm guessing that's because of the Covid situation. It met all of my criteria, the shuttles were timely, people were friendly. I'm guessing the rooms will be up for a refurbishment in the next year or two, it was fine though.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel the night before our early flight out of DTW. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Due to Covid, the pool, restaurant and bar are closed. I’m getting the feeling that Covid has become a general excuse not to offer full service and to provide slow or delayed service too. But that is not specific to just this hotel. I recommend staying here and will do so again. The front desk employee was super nice and helpful.

If you are catching a flight at the airport and need a quick overnight, highly recommend. We were not, so hearing planes all night/day was a little annoying. Due to COVID times, we were able to acquire a conference room for our group to use all weekend so we had a safe place to go besides our rooms. Hotel staff was very nice, friendly and willing to assist with extra amenities when possible. No food service, but grab and go breakfast was helpful since there is not much around yet. Starbucks was not open yet but is right down the street as well as some gas stations. The hotel room was nothing special, it was a place for our stuff and a comfy bed for our heads. The balcony was a nice bonus and the weather was great so we were able to enjoy some fresh air. Only complain I have is I wish there were rooms with microwaves included instead of having to use the lobby microwave. Not sure if there are because no one in our group had a room with a microwave.
