This review is for Gold Rush Water Park only. The park is lots of fun! But there are definite negatives.
The park was PACKED when we went. There were not nearly enough tubes for how many people they had there. They were severely understaffed. The kids who were working were doing an excellent job but we're 100% overworked which is very dangerous for many reasons. They can't possibly keep an eye on everything when there are so few workers, and they are exhausted from being in 1 location for hours at a time. Most water parks switch positions very often and have a lot more lifeguards for each station. The entire lazy river had 1 lifeguard who was also trying to get people to pass their float to the next person when they got off the water slide.
We asked several times if they ever brought out more tubes, and were told this is all they had. Everyone could clearly see 2 rooms full of tubes so I'm not sure why they refused to bring more out.
For example, there were two 4 person tubes for the entire resort. They eventually brought out 1 more 4 person tube.
They kept trying to get everyone to understand that you had to pass off the 2 or 4 person tubes to the next person at the bottom of the slide. Surprisingly, most children understood the concept but a lot of parents were rudely pushing past kids to ride again instead of passing the tubes off.
Overall, we may visit again but would try to go later in the day once people start clearing out, or mid-week. Be prepared to walk up lots of flights carrying a tube. Each slide had about 8 flights to walk up and there is no belt to bring the larger tubes. Also, if you see all the tables on the main floor are taken, try going up some steps to the more hidden areas, there were free tables there.
I understand they probably had call-ins that morning but when understaffed they should have a limit of customers allowed in, and they 100% should have brought out more tubes.

Camping at Double JJ was so much fun. We loved the old west look and all the activities around for the family. Stopped into the Saloon for a drink and the bar tender Amy was so much fun! Gave us some history about the property and filled us in on fun stuff to do for the weekend. We will definitely be going back for more camping adventures. The main resort was just as fun and all the staff from the front desk, water park, and to the arcade everyone was extremely friendly. The only reason we didn’t give a full 5 stars is it looks like the property could use more maintenance and attention to cleaning in a few areas.

Double JJ Ranch Thoroughbred Golf Course is an absolute gem and a must-play for any golf enthusiast. This PGA Championship quality course is set in a pristine environment, surrounded by majestic trees and a stunning lake, offering breathtaking views at every turn. The beauty of the course makes it feel like a private sanctuary, easily one of the prettiest golf courses in the area.

The experience is further enhanced by the super friendly staff, especially Barb in the pro shop, who goes out of her way to make everyone feel welcome. The senior discounts are a great touch, making it more accessible for older golfers. The addition of a new GPS range system on the golf carts is a fantastic upgrade, ensuring you have all the information you need to play your best game.

Overall,Double JJ Ranch Thoroughbred Golf Course combines top-notch facilities with a spectacular setting, creating an unforgettable golfing experience. Highly recommended!⛳️

Went with family and friends for Labor Day weekend (2024). Stayed at the campground in the back 40. Everyone had a great experience. Probably one of the kids favorite trips. Petting horses, riding bikes, arts and crafts, water park, campfires, and so on. We initially planned on just doing the outdoor water park in the back forty, but we didn’t look into the dates for when it closed for the season. But staying on the resort we got half off the indoor one so that was a relief. Taking the shuttle back and forth to come and go from the water park was really nice and the long hours really make you feel like you get your money’s worth. The restrooms and showers were really clean, it was actually our first time using ones instead of our camper. The employees at the arts and crafts (can only remember Paula’s name) they were all SO great with the kids. Every employee we encountered was very pleasant, but the arts and crafts ladies made it so fun for the littles, I wouldn’t have guessed it would be one of the kids favorite parts. I also felt like our dogs were very welcome everywhere we took them. Overall so many activities we didn’t have enough time or energy to try them all, and we can’t wait to go back (probably when the outdoor water park is open). Highly recommend!

Thank you for the enthusiastic review! It’s wonderful to hear that your Labor Day weekend with family and friends was such a hit. we're thrilled that the kids enjoyed everything from petting horses to arts and crafts, and that the indoor water park provided a great alternative when the outdoor one was closed. Great to hear that the shuttle service, clean facilities, and friendly staff, especially Paula and the arts and crafts team, contributed to a memorable experience. It’s also great to know that your dogs felt welcome—pet-friendly spaces are important to us. We can’t wait to welcome you back, hopefully when the outdoor water park is open! Thank you for visiting!!

The worst experience I’ve ever had with any hotel or waterpark/resort. Front desk staff/management was terribly rude when I went to explain how our bathroom wasn’t functioning and gross. Also argued with me about the rollaway bed I added to my stay and said they didn’t even offer them. It turned into a huge altercation and foul language. They refused a refund even though me and my children were only there less than 2 hours and didn’t even stay in our room- we drove home. 2 days later they charged me another $200 and when I called the girl who answered the phone sat there laughing at me with her manager and said they found “feces” in my room. Again, we didn’t even use the room and I went to them about that bathroom. One of the workers then chose to post a nasty video about me on social media calling me names. She recorded this video at double JJ front desk while laughing with her manager Christina! I have since posted the story and added screenshots and that video to my Facebook account, I strongly urge anyone that’s considering a visit here to go look at the full story before booking and look at the hundreds of others who have come forward with their stories since I posted!

The family and i stayed there this past weekend, and let me say we were not impressed. The bunkbed had radom screws holding it together. The bunkbed was wobbly. The pool was way too packed, but I guess when you're making money, who cares how many people are in there. The $29 they charge to swim, I guess it is supposably to help maintain the pool. Not the case here. The 2 flights of stairs we had to walk down had dust and cobwebs everywhere. The pool itself had paint missing, and one slide wasn't working. Whatever you dont buy, the $9 donuts they sell. I was like Homer Simpsons when I saw them. Luckily, I did some research and found where they get them, which is only 5 mins away. Mac's Meats was the place, and they was only I do believe $3.25. The arcade had out of order games. Also I didnt see any cleaning staff as people had trash sitting outside there room the whole weekend. Way under staffed.

We came for a day trip to celebrate a birthday and an amazing time! The waterpark is big enough to be interesting for the three teens but small enough that we could find each other and do things together. The 3 tube slides are from one platform so it's easy to stick together and the body slide is by itself, all were fun for all of us. Lines were short. The indoor/outdoor hot tub was amazing, a nice way to get out to fresh air and have a break from echoing waterpark. A staff member went above and beyond by spotting us as we came in and telling us there was an open table on the 2nd level that he could show us to claim. My only negative comment would be the water level in the adult hot tub was too low so that it was not covering the jets. The waterpark is not exactly pristine and new-looking, but it's not dirty or broken down either.
We ate dinner at the Curly Horse and had great service with a surprisingly beautiful view with all the windows. The kids felt it was super fancy and special despite still being able to get all our meals under $20. Then we did the tubing hill, which worked great for fast runs and relaxing as you are hooked to the rope at the bottom which pulls you up. All was great for a winter birthday celebration! I would probably choose a day trip again, since the lodging doesn't include the waterpark and other activities and it's just one hour from where we live.

Contrary to some of the reviews we had a great experience during our 2 nights here. All 3 visits to the indoor water park were met with helpful staff, my 6 year old had so much fun every time and there’s something for all ages. The outdoor is smaller but offers more of a chance to swim and get some sun. The trail riding was amazing - Mike, Rachel, Jake and Tim knew exactly how to calm our anxieties about being first timers! We would have went twice if there was openings. Front desk staff was always available and helpful and the restaurant was good too. Black light mini golf was a hit and is free for under 7. We went during the week so it was a little quieter, which I prefer. Our room in Thoroughbred Suites was overly accommodating with a jacuzzi, 2 fireplaces and a full kitchen, dining table, dishes etc. I was prepared for a subpar experience because of the negative reviews but if you’re looking for a reasonable place to have some fun with your kiddos, or just relax as a couple, this is great. Lewis farms down the road should be on the list too!

I would not stay, there is no benefit in staying here. Tickets to the park is not included. The rooms are overpriced motel 8. Best stay elsewhere and drive here in the morning.

Zenders is so much better, not even a good comparison. Here you overpay for a room and do not have a garante that you will be able to go in the park. I am here with family for 3 nights and we’re told that it was sold out for the weekend, which means we are staying at a overpriced motel 8. Cannot cancel or they will charge half of stay as a fee. If you want to see here just stay in any hotel nearby and drive in the morning. No benefit staying here
