Hotel's Favourite
We spent 2 nights here in July, had an enjoyable stay. We've only been to 1 other indoor waterpark to compare to. It's on the small side, I'd say it's more geared to younger kids, only 3 bigger slides that are more for teens. Never made to wait long in line (we were there midweek). The staff are excellent, from check in to housekeeping, all friendly and helpful. Was impressed at how many lifeguards were on duty at all times and how alert they were. Water Park was extremely clean, rooms were clean, nice balcony. Sure the hotel carpets could be replaced but who walks on them barefoot anyways. We didn't eat there or do any extra activities, we ate in town and explored the area more. Would return, it was the same price or cheaper than the hotels in town so the waterpark is a bonus to keep the kids happy.

Have two kids under 10, so we were the usual type of family to stay at a Great Wolf Lodge.
Kids, of course, loved being here. I thought the water park was great and pretty well managed. Was less crazy about the room, especially for what is being charged.
Don’t know if the resort was sold out but it was crowded. Partly because we stayed on a Sunday night into a MLK Holiday Monday and partly because the Northern Michigan weather was not god awful for once in the middle of January, allowing an easy drive for people to reach Traverse City.
Stayed in a slightly upgraded theme room called a “kids camp.” This is a room that has a semi enclosed area for the kids with bunk beds and was themed to look like you are camping.
Wish there was a curtain or door for the kids camp/bunk room and more of a separation between the rest of the room and the kids sleeping area. Sink for the room is located right across from the kids area, and the parents bed and tv are located next to the kids bunk room, so once the kids are put to bed, you have to be quiet not to wake them up.
Soundproofing for the ceiling above us was poor. Could hear a ton of stomping around from whoever was above us but it did quiet down around 10 PM and was quiet throughout out the night. They also have a rule that all kids must be accompanied by an adult if they are going outside their room after 11. I think this significantly cuts down kids running in the hallway and slamming doors at night.
Price for the room including taxes and fees was just over $400. This includes the ridiculous “resort fee,” so just keep in mind that the price for the room quoted on the website will be an extra $100 once you add on all the fees and taxes. Room price does include admission into the water park starting at 1 PM for the day of check in and continuing all through the next day until the water park closed.
You have to check out of the room by 11 AM, but you can put your luggage in the car, and there are showers, changing rooms, and lockers in the pool area.
Water park is mostly geared to kids under 12. None of the water slides are very scary or have steep drops and the three largest ones are mostly curved. Kids over 4 ft can go on all the slides by themselves and kids between 42 and 48 inches can go in all slides with an adult.
If you have little kids, there are toddler sized slides and a baby/toddler pool area.
Did not eat in the hotel restaurant or the pizza place inside the hotel. Downtown Traverse City is only 10 minutes away and has lots of good restaurants that are kid friendly. There are also several chain restaurants close by to the hotel.

We stayed June 18th, 2024 and April 2024 for 2 nights. The staff are all very nice and try their very best to help. The kids love the Magi-quest game. We spent a lot of money getting the kids their wands & toppers; however, the game is very glitchy and problematic. The staff explained that the game infrastructure is 20 years olds and the wands are 1 year old, so there are some compatibility issues. Management is slowly trying to upgrade and improve the issues slowly—well management its way too slow. You’ve asked parents to spend way too much money for wands and a game that just doesn’t work that well. More staff is needed, as well, as we waited in line for assistance far too long. The staff you do have is excellent! Management—if you don’t step up, you’ll begin to lose them, as well.
Lastly, chairs are needed for parents and grandparents to sit. I’m amazed that there is not one chair in the lobby area! Chairs are needed on floors 2 through 4, as well, so adults can supervise. It’s rough for the 70 year old grandparents to get up from the floor. For the amount of money we’re asked to spend these issues need attention fast!

Never again! Had so many issues with the wristbands. Had to get all new wristbands on the second day and still had issues. Paid for dining credits and the wristband was charging to the room and not my dining credits, which in the end, maxed out my credit card. So many hidden fees and charges and now have to pay for parking PER DAY. Had to go to the front desk 3-4 times per day to deal with issues between the wristbands and my dining credits. When you pay the deposit at the time of booking, it gives you your remaining balance. That remaining balance should include all the fees, including resort fees that they charge per day and don't tell you about, as well as any dining credits or add on packages. Instead, they give you your remaining balance then charge you extra fees at the time of check in. When you scan your wristband for dining, it charges a seperate fee for a tax. In the end, I payed a ton of extra fees. Didn't even use all my dining credits because they charged the food to my room instead of the credits and the front desk said there's no way to move the charge for the food over to my dining credits, and they do not reimburse you for any unused dining credits. We went to celebrate my sons 10th birthday and the whole trip was aweful and very stressful. Will not be going back and will stick with Frankenmuth from here on out.

Check in was terrible it took 2 hrs and 45 mins! When I finally received a room I trekked up 3 floors with my 3 kids and, suit case around the hotel only to find out that someone was already in our room, so after that I walk all the way back down stairs with my 3 kids and a suit case to get a different room which took another hour. Double assigning rooms is a huge safety issue and the fact that front desk wasn’t all that phased makes me believe that this happens often. It also put me on edge for the 2 nights we were there, and I wasn’t able to sleep due to this incident.
The fact that the water park didnt open until 10a is ridiculous. Toddlers wake up early. I also couldn’t believe how terrible the food was for the cost. 55$ for 2 cold pizzas is unreal. I will not be staying here again, and will also be advising my very large connection of people with kids not to stay here as well. Not kid friendly when you have to wait multiple hours to do anything. I was also not impressed with your arcade. Extremely overpriced. My kids were distraught because they were only able to a total of 12 games 4 games each. I paid for a pup pass, and the food/fun pass which should’ve been more than enough. Absolutely ridiculous. Lower the prices per game in your arcade!!! It’s crappy that my kids stated that they have more fun at soaring eagle vs great lodge. Such a waste of money to stay at great wolf lodge. 😅

I’ll start by saying my family really did have a nice time but it was obvious that a lot of corners were being cut probably due to staffing issues. The room was very nice and clean although it should be for the high price! We stayed on a Saturday night so we were surprised that the water park was only open until 8:00. It also seemed weird that the bar in the water park was never staffed the entire time we were there. The Buckets food place was open Saturday but when we tried to get some fries just after 7:00, they were mysteriously unable to serve food anymore due to “a problem with the kitchen equipment.” We decided to get pizza instead at the place just outside the water park. We lucked out because right after we got it, we got a text that the pizza ovens mysteriously went down and that place would be closing down early as well. The next day that we were to leave (Sunday), we joked that because the park was to close at 4:00, something would mysteriously happen to require an early closure. Just as expected we received a text Sunday saying that the park would close at 3:00. I find this unacceptable that this place makes it a habit to close everything earlier than advertised. I would rate the service as 1 star for this reason and say shame on you for not giving guests the level of service that they are paying for. My husband even spoke with another family that said they had reserved a cabana which was supposed to including food and drink servers just to find out when they got there that the cabana service would not be available. We stay at Splash Village often and this place was so inferior to Splash Village in every way! The water park was so much smaller comparatively and the service wasn’t even in the same ballpark! There really wasn’t enough table type of seating in the park either. We would definitely not recommend this place.

Stayed 2 nights in October mid week . Stay was great , room was clean and spacious , we had a wolf Den suite.
What they need to work on is the check in. I was told on three occasions to come back one time at 1 when they assured me my room would be ready then again to come back in 15 mins and it would be good to go and then the same thing a third time . I understand that I was early and they don’t guarantee early check in but don’t tell me to come back when you know it won’t be ready .funny thing with all of it was that if I was willing to pay 59$ that Same room I waited for 90 mins was ready … lol
Overall it was good but that check process needs to be worked on . Can’t Imagine what would happen if it was busy . One more thing that needs to be made aware is that the water park slides / areas are not open all the time . They said it was due to staffing issues but I call bs on that . If they can’t offer all the facilities due to staffing don’t charge full price for the stay.

The resort is nice and clean. The waterpark is smaller than other GWL properties we have been to. There was no big line ups as it was not srping break in the USA which was very nice and the lifeguards are a little more relaxed compared to othrer GWL properties. Our kids enjoyed themselves very much.
A warning - DO NOT INVEST in the food credits. The food is mediocre at best, and highly overpriced. The GWL property itself is located within city limits and it is nothing to go to one of the many restaurants nearby for better and cheaper food. We found ourself scrambling to blow our food credits on junk just to spend it as we couldn't get our family of 6 to eat another crappy meal in the restaurant.

The first night was OK. We arrived a little late. The2nd day we had house keeping opening up are door after we told them prior we didn't want to be disturbed. Then at the water park area there was a child unattended in the adult section. No one cared. Then that night are t.v wasn't working. Called front desk pretty much told us we were screwed until tomorrow. Thankfully we finally got it to connect. Then in the morning housekeeping was going down are hall way at 9a.m yelling HOUSEKEEPING, Remind u checkout is at 11 a.m . When we spoke to the manager Erin she was friendly and nice and took $50 off our room. But $50 for a 3 day stay and had problems each just didn't seem right. I recommend that u go somewhere else for a family getaway this placed looks good and has a lot to offer but in my opinion they could run it along better. I don't usually write reviews but we spent a lot of money for along weekend to not enjoy are selfs . Stay away spend your money somewhere were they care about there visitors!!!

Room unclean. Wet towels and wash clothes hanging in bathroom, from previous customers. Bed sheets were clearly not changed, there was freshly spilled coffee in the sheets. This was disgusting.
Not geared for preteens or teenagers. The hotel does not accept cash anywhere! Kids could not spend money at the gift shop, arcade, bowling alley, candy shop, ice cream, without parent tagging along with a credit card. Ridiculous, to think I would hand over my credit card to a 12 & 13 year old.

No, they were not the best the first year, but this time was the BOMB! If you do find something, let them know and they will take care of it right away! The staff this past time we went were the best i have ever had at a hotel! From the food place in the water park to the front desk! Enjoy, I know we will in October of next year!!!!!
Would this be a fun winter getaway for adults without kids? Or is this more of a kids/family resort?
NO. Families with kids under 10.
