Beautiful decor, great location and excellent food. If the weather cooperates you can walk everywhere that this gem of a city offers. My ONLY issue with this location is on the bay side of the hotel, which sports beautiful views, is also noisy. In our case we also had a street lamp that was directly in front of the window facing the lake, as Grandview Parkway is directly below and the traffic is crazy busy even in winter. Overall it is lovely.
We started staying here about 5 years ago when they first opened. The location is convenient, you can easily walk into town etc.,, lake across the street, roof top bar, and yes the rooms on the lakeside can be noisy at night with traffic, but we expected that. However, over the years, we have seen a decline in the hotel, rooms are showing wear, and bedding needs to be replaced, for the past 3 years the fireplace in the main sitting area has not been working correctly. We literally have to request it be turned on and it only stays lit for a minute, a fireplace feature in a Northern MI hotel should ALWAYS be working, just fix it!. Cleaning service not up to snuff either, they still don't clean your room, but will replace towels, on our last visit, the hall ways were littered with room service trays outside doors, and when we got to the lobby at 8 am for coffee, the sitting area had popcorn crumbs, etc all over floor, and tables were sticky, not somewhere I wanted to sit and have morning coffee.. The price point is high, and when you pay for parking I no longer see the value, will most likely be looking for another hotel.…
Terrible. Sat in restaurant until someone came by then told to order at counter. Adds gratuity if you room charge and don’t tell you so you also tip. Loud! No hot water for shower!! No mgr to be seen.
Lovely hotel that has a beautiful view of the bay. It is a perfect location of being able to park your car and walk everywhere. Cert close to shopping and great restaurants. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Wonderful walk in shower with rainfall shower head. The only reason I am not giving this hotel a 5 star is the road noise in the morning during rush hour.
Stayed here for a wedding and I could not believe how unhospitable the staff was. Arrived for a planned wedding event and they made no attempt to get us into our room early...in fact we watched many people check in early as we waited for almost 2 hrs. (We had a 3yr old and 6 mo old) When I tried to talk to the manager, she wouldn't come out of the office then called me and laid into such a tirade, I couldn't even get my question in which was why we were promised adjoining rooms when I made a reservation but we didn't get them. They never gave us our wedding welcome bags or any information about housekeeping, valet, or anything else. I overpaid for 6 nights at this hotel and got a view of a brick wall and a very unhospitable stay.
It’s 10 at night, the first night of two I reserved at this hotel. Instead of enjoying my evening, I’m furiously trying to find another hotel to get out of this place. When I called to reserve a room (and asked again at checkin for the quiet room with a bay view I reserved) (the more expensive of rooms available in this hotel), I was told, “yes, you are in a quiet room” Once we got checked into our 3rd floor room, we quickly knew the room was nothing as described. We literally feel like we are in the middle of a Grand Prix raceway. The noise from the non stop traffic outside our window will ensure we have the worst nights sleep of our 5 hotel stays from Chicago through Michigan. 3 were IHG hotels. I should have known better when I noticed a “sound machine” on the nightstand. Turning it on we had the added noise of something like tuning your radio on to non stop static. When we arrived, we also got the unwelcome surprise that there was no public parking. Guests have two choices. Either you feed a meter every 3 hours and likely get a parking ticket, or you agree to a valet charge of $15 per day that you have no choice but to pay. This, added to my “bay view premium rate” on the traverse city raceway outside my window, has me feeling angry and duped. For the record, when I complained, the front desk said they would not let us leave one day early without charging us in full. I asked to speak to the manager. After one hour of trying to hunt down the manager, the front desk called me back and agreed to let us checkout without penalty. I believe this was because we booked directly with the hotel. We cannot recommend this hotel!…
Hotel Indigo is a modern and newish hotel with convenient access to the downtown and a lovely view over West Bay. Valet parking is required and currently 15.00/day. The staff are very efficient and personable so it wasn't much of an inconvenience but good to be aware of before checking in. My king room with bay view was spacious with a comfortable bed and large bathroom. Because the hotel is located beside a busy road, traffic noise can be a problem. I also experienced some hallway noise about 12 am which was annoying. The staff I encountered were all friendly and helpful and although breakfast isn't included in your room rate, the cafe downstairs served very good food.
Valet was quick and easy, necessary as downtown location. Two rooms located on third floor - beautiful view of the water. Traffic had a little noise from road, but not undoable. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. Huge walk in showers, good for the 2 year old. Didn’t care for the barn door, with no lock- but it wasn’t a big deal. Beds were comfortable and they located us in adjacent rooms. Big plus in allowing us to communicate easily. Breakfast was cook to order and delicious. Staff was very helpful. Highly recommend and would stay there again.
Beautiful views. Very friendly and helpful staff from valet to cleaning teams. Modern, fun designs throughout the building. Love the rain shower and size of shower. Roof top bar and restaurant are fun-food was delicious. Very comfortable bed. Centrally located with almost everything within walking distance. Valet parking.
The valet parking is very convenient and required I believe. The car was always ready within 5 minutes of asking for it. We were able to walk to a number of bars, restaurants, and the beach for some lake gazing. There is a bar inside that we stopped a couple of time with excellent service and good live music on Saturday night which was a nice surprise! I think there is a bar on the roof but it was not open during our visit (early season). The room was very clean and modern but no fridge which would be handy. Comfortable bed, good towels, and a spacious shower. Would gladly stay again.
