Delamar Traverse City garners praise for its clean, comfortable rooms and professional, attentive staff, contributing to a dynamic atmosphere that guests find inviting, especially with modern decor and heated pools. Located ideally for exploring downtown and the waterfront, the hotel's amenities, including beach access and shuttle service, are often highlighted, though some suggest enhancements to breakfast options. However, travelers note that the cost may not always reflect value due to high room rates and additional charges, and disruptive noise levels and dated room decor have also been mentioned as concerns.

So glad to have stayed here right on the bay. While this hotel is currently under renovations, the workers were respectful and quiet during the week day. What appears to be a 70’s brick hotel on the outside is now becoming a hip and stylish NYC or Vegas hot spot. Hotel has two heated pools, and even the outdoor one was heated to more than 90°. Patio around pool was comfortably furnished with outdoor heaters. The room was outfitted nicely, with a giant TV and walk in shower - depending on the side of the hotel you are on, you may have to wait a while for hot water early in the morning.

The lake was a sparkling blue, but really didn’t see much of a beach here. The bar/bistro was accommodating and made great coffee in the morning. Each employee I came across was very helpful and super friendly. Shuttle to and from airport was free and on time (don’t forget to tip your driver). Masks required in all indoor public spaces. So about the dogs, this place HAD been dog friendly... 🐶, however under this new umbrella/owner (Delamar), no longer are they accepting reservations with your pup, so leave your best friend at home unfortunately. This hotel is within easy walking distance to downtown. Right on West Grand Traverse Bay. Amazing sunsets!

Dear LABDRB, Thank you for the five star review! I am glad that you are happy with the improvements that we have made to the property. Also, our new restaurant, Artisan, is launching in mid-June. It will add to the dynamic of the property, as a waterfront fine dining experience. As for the beach; after some very high water levels the past two seasons, the water has receded a bit for this season, exposing some beach area for our guests to enjoy. We hope to see you again soon! Best Regards, Michael Scandariato General Manager 231.421.2120

Before we checked in we knew the hotel was short staffed and that rooms would not be cleaned or bedding changed as often. Front desk was friendly and open about what to expect. They are finishing updating the hotel such as the main dining room as well as rooms in east tower. We had no trouble getting replacement towels and toiletries. Our room was very clean when we checked in
We found many of the restaurants in town were also short staffed.
In general the breakfast and the dinner we ate there one evening was acceptable. One breakfast service was very slow and the restaurant manager stopped in to handle service and then remembered us one evening while having drinks.
We stayed here about 9 years ago when a Holiday Inn and love the location. We are walkers so walking into town for dinner was easy as well as morning walks along the water.
Currently there is minimal beach due to the high water levels of Lake MI but all looks nice.
If we were back this way would certainly consider staying here.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback regarding your stay. Your thoughtful assessment of your experience is appreciated. We also appreciate your understanding during these challenging times. Our industry was certainly hit the hardest with the staffing shortage, and hotel and restaurant teams across the country are doing their best to provide the same great experiences. The great news is, we are almost there, and excited to launch Artisan, our waterfront fine dining restaurant, in just a couple of weeks. It will certainly be the "must dine" experience in Traverse City. We hope that you have an opportunity to experience Artisan when you return to Traverse City. The attention to detail stands out from other local lodging options, and really provides the resort-like feel. Upon arrival, we were offered valet parking. Upon check-in, we were offered a taste of local sparkling wine. Throughout our stay, the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Our room had a floor to ceiling window with a view of the bay. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I had the best night’s sleep in a hotel that I have had in a long time. The hotel seemed fairly busy for a Sunday evening, but we never heard any noises from the hallway or adjacent occupied rooms.
The room was spacious, and had a very large television, a table with two chairs, as well as a cushioned chair. Since we had to check out very early the next morning and would miss coffee and breakfast options, I appreciated having a Keurig machine to brew a cup of coffee before we left the hotel.
The bathroom was extremely clean with nice fixtures. The Bvlgari amenities (shampoo, soap, etc.) were appreciated, as were the nice bath towels.
The pool area was very clean, and the hot tub was amazing! The pool area includes very nice chaise lounges for sitting, and a sauna is available in addition to the pool and hot tub.
We enjoyed a great meal in the hotel at Artisan. Although pricey, it was well worth the convenience of enjoying an upscale dining experience without having to leave the hotel.
Overall, our stay was wonderful and the service was top notch! We look forward to staying at the Delamar again soon!

Ok I admit it I usually only stay at very upscale hotels like the Ritz or Four Seasons and if you are used to that upscale level its not here thats for sure. The location is the best in the city but to me this is just a party hotel with lots of 30 somethings looking to party in Traverse.

I Stayed here for 3 nights on June 24-26, 2021 with my wife and 2 teens kids and another family. The property claims its doing a multi million dollar renovation and while it is not done yet I see no big real improvements here other than in the lobby and the outdoor patio that is under construction.

True the location is best in the city with only a 10 minute walk to downtown like shops and restaurants. There is also on site boat, bike, kayak, and jet ski rental as well as a partying cocktail catamaran sail boat that goes ouy each evening but other than that I am seriously not impressed.

For the $500 plus a night they charge here with no daily maid service is quite the deal breaker so go elsewhere. We asked for extra pillows and linens on the first night and never got them. Our room which is designated as a suite was just a standard sized hotel room and totally way way over priced. The bathrooms was so old and outdated it was a laugh and the Bvlgari bath products dont make up for anything. Our bathroom was filthy and dirty and just not good. The furniture was old and the carpet was old too and ripped. I guess if there was any good in our room the linens and pillows were good and the place is very quiet. Other than that there is not enough to offer me to ever want to go back, not for this kind of money. To me its still just an old Holiday Inn. You can out paint on the pig but at the end of the day its still a pig!

The staff seemed very uninformed no matter what you ask them and although they might think they try to help guests they certainly dont go out of their way to help anyone that's for sure. The staff is just not very well trained. There is no bell staff on duty so you guessed it. Hike your own bags and cart up to your room. Take a look at my uploaded photos and decide for yourself but I know I would never go back here.

We did have cocktails in the bar area with some apps and the food was very good I will say that. The outdoor pool is a hot party spot and not family orientated and they did have nightly live entertainment with cabanas and firepits. The indoor pool is more for family and they do have a small work out room.

I felt very mislead and cheated with this stay and could not wait to leave actually. We should have left after the first night. They get a lot of party goers here with the girls weekend out clubs and weddings. The place is not very well run am this is not where I want to be for quality time with my family.

There is on site trailer parking if you bring your boat and the Clinch Marina is a 1/4 mile away to launch it. You can anchor your boat off shore at the hotel if you want to. See some of the pics I uploaded and judge for yourself.

Dear Caymankid, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback regarding your stay. I would have to agree that you did not see us at our best. Our outdoor patio is now open, and our waterfront fine dining restaurant will be open later this month. Although delayed, our valet and bell programs are completely rolled out. Our team is standing tall, and ready for service. Our industry has been most impacted by the labor shortage, and getting everyone back to work. We are now there, but unfortunately, shortly after your departure. Please reach out to me directly when booking your next stay, and I will make sure you and your family have a true Delamar experience. Hotel lobby and amenities are wonderful. The outdoor and indoor pools are heated and swimmable even in October. I didn't eat at the restaurant but did enjoy both the continental breakfast and premium buffet (additional fee). I felt the price of the buffet was a little on the higher side for what you get but it did have some good food and I'd probably do it again.

The staff was kind, patient and professional. I've been to a lot of places of varying quality and thought the staff represents the hotels cost and quality quite well. As a side note, I also witnessed some very rude guests. It's funny, most of TC is full with people who clean up after themselves and take pride in it. Some tourists however will knock food on the ground (not a small amount) and not so much as apologize. Either ignore it or call someone to clean it up immediately. Of course, the staff didn't complain openly. Like I said, very professional.

The low point was unfortunately the room. Room had visible layers of dust on all hard surfaces except the bathroom. Furniture was damaged and carpet was frayed. We were on the third floor in a double queen room. Room size was nice but I'll admit the bathroom is small.

Overall, we did enjoy the stay, if we do I would probably spend more time on the phone finding a newer room if possible. If these reviews are monitored I would encourage the staff more vigilance on the housekeeping side of things. Report damage found in the room and take corrective actions to cover or remove unseemly damage or blemishes.

Seriously needs an update. This is a redecorated Holiday Inn right on Lake Michigan so the views are nice in public areas. Really expensive for what you get. Probably could be the nicest hotel in town if they took care of some things.

Door to our room didn’t shut without being pulled or pushed shut and there was a chunk of wall missing on the outside wall next to the door.

The room is very dark and really needs more lights. The carpet is frayed badly .

The bathroom is small with limited counter space and only one hook to hang anything. The handle on the sliding door to the bathroom was loose and needed screws to be reattached which they did when we reported it.However, the next morning, the screw fell out and the handle wobbled, again. The shower is an overhead rain shower so if you don’t want to get you hair wet, it can be a little challenging without a shower cap. The floor is really worn.

Safe is so low you have to crawl on the floor to use it and you need to use your cell flashlight to see inside.

There is an in-room coffee maker.

For the closet, there is no door so they used a curtain to pull across, but the curtain can’t close if you have clothes hanging there since the rod isn’t out far enough away from the clothes to close.

Turndown service literally turns down the top corners of the bed. Service was inconsistent as we didn’t get a new bath mat or coffee pod refills at different times.

They have shampoo, conditioner and soap all in dispensers. They don’t have a makeup mirror or some of the other little amenities like a shower cap, cotton swabs, makeup remover towelettes, etc.

Bistro for breakfast has a very limited menu and is extremely noisy as all the surfaces are hard. First time we have ever seen Market Price for an omelet.

Here now for 3 nights and the room is NOT RENOVATED as advertised. It’s very banged up with carpet that is damaged and ripping, walls that are banged and dented, a patch of wallpaper is missing, and what looks like cat scratches on the upholstered bottom of each bed. The bathroom doesn’t even have a towel hook or towel bar to hang the towel I need to use for the next 3 nights bc there’s no housekeeping service. No hotels have housekeeping now bc of covid … but you can’t give me a simple hook to hang the towel I need to use fir 3 nights?! On top of all of it they put us in a room above the ballroom where a wedding is going on. It’s 10:43 at night and We can not only hear the thumping music beat … we can literally hear the words to the songs. The Cupid shuffle, tricky, levitating… I mean sounds fun but I’m tired. I don’t want to hear all of this. This room costs over $500 a night snd they can’t even provide a freaking towel hook or towel bar. You’ve got to be kidding me. Disappointing. And - false advertising - bc this room is not renovated.

Don't stay at this hotel! We booked through expedia and when they lowered the rates due to lack of business, they continued to charge us $100 more per night than our friends that stayed the exact same nights. What a rip off! They also charge a 'resort fee' for amenities that aren't even open. The deck and bar outside are closed and other amenities are limited. The Director of Operations Jordan cares more about corporate policy than making customers happy. Stay elsewhere. There are plenty of nice places in TC.

This Hotel is worse than any cheap Holiday Inn I’ve ever been to. Very understaffed. Waited until after 5 pm for a room due to lack of housekeeping. Very limited bar menu. Waterfront is a mess. They are still under construction with several areas closed. Even if all the construction was completed they still have a Holiday Inn feel. We tried calling the front desk at 10 pm due to a very noisy room next door. For over 30 minutes and a dozen attempts and no one ever answered????
If you like the atmosphere of an old Embassy Suites Hotel you’ll love the Delamar in Traverse City.
There were many people waiting through out the lobby area for their room for hours. The front desk staff were constantly explaining that it was a housekeeping problem and we never saw a manager.

Booked a 2 night stay in the Family Room, specifically that room for the bunk beds. Upon arrival we were told we would have to wait - and informed due to plumbing issues we would not be staying in a Family Room.
I am empathetic to hotel issues, and the common space was very charming and the front desk receptionist was helpful.
We finally got checked in late, after 5pm and was given vouchers for breakfast at the cafe in hotel.
We eventually learned part of the hotel is being renovated which is why we didn't get the Family Room. So my understanding is that they overbooked and we were never up for that room - no call or notice. Only found out upon arrival.
Super bummed, I had pumped my kids up for the bunk bed experience and when we found ourselves in a handicap accessible room on the second floor we were already deflated. The room was dated with peeling wallpaper, orange mold in shower corners, and rickety curtains. We ended our stay after one night and found another local place to finish our TC visit.
The hotel certainly has a pleasing aesthetic in common areas and a great location. I hope another time we can confirm which room in advance and ensure it's an updated one.

It would be wise to contact the hotel directly. It appeared to me that there was plenty of secured spaces and outbuildings where this could be a possibility.

It is complimentary with your stay and very good. When I was there July 2023 it was scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, breads and bagels, individual overnight oats and yogurts with granola and berries. Fresh fruit, coffee, and tea as well.
