The Fairfield is tucked back away from US-31 south of town so it has less road noise than a lot of the hotels east of downtown. Very convenient if you are going up the Leelanau peninsula because you can avoid the horrendous traffic downtown. Continue to look at room rates for this hotel after you book because they raise & lower rates based on their occupancy levels. Floors are creaky and thin, felt like ours was going to cave in when you walked across it. Also, sounded like a herd of bison in room above us. Definitely would have lowered the rating of this hotel if not for current pandemic situation, stayed two nights and they never cleaned our room. May try again.

My husband and I met our friends in Traverse City to watch some high school girls varsity basketball. Our friends chose this place and we’re glad they did! We would absolutely stay again! The front desk staff was very friendly and professional. The beds were very comfortable. The room was clean. The soap in the shower is no longer bars of soap - the body soap, shampoo and conditioner, as well, are in containers attached to the wall - clearly they’re thinking about the environment. Also, the toilet paper isn’t like sandpaper! :)

My spouse and I were visiting Traverse City over a weekend in May 2021 and had the pleasure of spending a Saturday night at this Fairfield Inn. Our check-in process was smooth and easy, and we were able to check in at the earlier time that I'd requested to check in when I booked the room. That was nice.

Our room (#301) was clean and comfortable, and I appreciated the fact that they honored our request to be on the top floor... away from the elevator.

I appreciated the fact that this hotel has a business computer computer with the right Internet browser (Google Chrome) for my needs. I was able to use the computer a bit to do some web surfing and catching up on my social media while I was there, which was much appreciated.

We did not have breakfast here (we chose to eat breakfast elsewhere) but saw that the hotel staff were offering some kind of to-go breakfast bags during the COVID pandemic.

Altogether our stay was quite pleasant. It's a bit of an older property and we were bummed that the indoor hot tub was not available, but sometimes that happens during the pandemic. Perhaps, though, they could have allowed guests to reserve the indoor pool/hot tub at a specific time which meant that the hot tub could have been open for guests to use.

In general, I would have no qualms about staying here again when I'm in the Traverse City area again... maybe after the pandemic when breakfast is back to normal and the indoor hot tub can be open again. Thanks for a good stay!

This was a typical Fairfield Inn. Same setup with the same amenities, but the real difference was the exceptional employees! We stayed for 3 nights and though there was no daily housekeeping any request we had for towels, washcloths, etc. were meant with courtesy and with efficiency, along with suggestions of places to visit and things to do. I can't express enough how friendly and helpful all the employees we encountered were! For this reason we would definitely choose this Fairfield Inn again.

Barely 1 star. Prices are comparable to downtown san Francisco or NYC hotels, $375+, but amenities, services are below mark. The hotel does not recognize titanium members, nor do they offer upgrades, nor do they even acknowledge if it is not available. All in all, disappointing experience as the titanium elite member. Thank goodness we are checking out tomorrow morning! Let's see if the hotel GM even bothers to respond...
I don't want to post pics of stained bath tub because I don't want my friends to know that I stayed there

Just stayed at Fairfield Inn, Traverse City. My best experience in 25 years. Lights bright enough that actually allow you to read, two robes in the room, Rick, the General Manager doing housekeeping and maintenance this morning, housekeeping staff (Shey and Jim, front desk (Guy and Carissa), and food service (Scarlett and the Asst. General Manager). Everyone will do anything to make certain guests are served well. What wonderful people!. A favorite place to stay if you’re in the area. But remember, all the customers were engaging as well so think first about whether you qualify (this is a joke because they will convert you!)

I was in Traverse City on business and stayed at the Fairfield Inn. The room was spacious, clean and located near restaurants and close to the place that I was working at. This made for an ideal situation for my needs. The breakfast in the morning had a good variety of cold and hot foods and great coffee. The staff was friendly and helpful. The dinning area provided a comfortable spot to meet some co-workers who were also staying at this hotel.

Chose this hotel for our one night away in Traverse City. Greeted at check in by Fern(Fran? Sorry ma’am) and felt like we were old friends. Made sure we knew the lay of the land, explained COVID protocols for the workout room and the pool, as well as advised us to take a picture of the breakfast menu so we would be prepared in case we ran into a crowd the next morning. Room was nice and clean, bed was so comfy(boyfriend wanted to sneak it home ha!), bathroom was kinda small, but did the trick. Couldn’t hear neighbors or hallway noise, which is always a plus. Will be back for sure!

From the moment we landed we were treated impeccably… the team made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble!
The rooms were super clean, breakfast fresh( delicious melon, pineapple, grapes snd clementines) as well as all the usual choices. The room was spacious with sofa and microwave, beds very comfortable and toiletries great.
I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and the best craft brewery in traverse City( terra firma is about a mile away!)

The staff here is friendly and helpful, but the facility needs to be updated. Our room was small and the mattress was uncomfortable. Our air conditioning unit fan ran continuously even when we tried to set it to cycle off and on. When we complained, the staff on-site staff responded and tried to help but they and we were told that the units weren’t designed to cycle. The second night we just turned the AC off but it had been covering up the noise from the in room refrigerator. The vibration noise was so loud we finally had to unplug the refrigerator.

We tried to use the laundry facility at the hotel but no water available there so we had to go to a local laundromat. Our room was not serviced during our two night stay.

We asked for a partial refund because of our dissatisfaction but were told that was not possible even though Fairfield has a “simple promise guarantee“ to make things right. They did give some extra points on my Marriott account but the points are somewhat meaningless when the hotel is this unacceptable.

Again, the staff was friendly and responsive but this hotel is far below the standard we expect from Fairfield. My recommendation is to avoid,.

The Cracker Barrel is within walking and is on a private drive/road to the hotel but the main road is very busy with many lanes of traffic, not suitable for walking.

Correct, it is 10-15 minutes from downtown Traverse City but fairly close to the airport and very close to the largest shopping center in TC.
