My wife and I paid a visit to the property this past weekend — our first since the tragic fire that destroyed the main lodge building in December 2012. We had no intentions of staying as guests (more on that in a moment) but it was more a visit of curiosity and to see how Michillinda had changed since the...

A space heater caused a fire that burnt this beautiful, historic lodge to the ground. I hope they find a way to rebuild. We will most definitely miss this place. It was one of our very favorite places to stop for lunch.

A serene and healing setting with rustic, lodge-like ambience, extraordinary sunsets and stargazing with friendly wait staff and nice meals. The main lodge where we stayed burned to the ground on 12/1/2012 so it's pointless to describe how charming it was.

The current owners have been at it 10+ years now and the upkeep shows they're struggling and doing the bare minimum. Most people complain about the 70's room decor, bad mattresses, no tv or A/C. The isolation aspect has always been a plus, in my opinion. The past year, after speaking with a few locals, has brought on a change...

We stayed at the Michilllinda Lodge on Friday (8/31) and Saturday (9/1) to attend a wedding. I would tell anyone reading this review that your experience can be good or bad depending on your expectations. The lodge is over 100 years old and has been quite well maintained although one of the other buildings looked shabby. There are no telephones...

We were fortunate to discover Michillinda Lodge while searching for a wedding venue for our daughter. We couldn't be happier with the results. We spent 4 days at Michillinda and were treated to delicious food, excellent, helpful, and friendly service and staff, a wonderful wedding coordinator (Ashley) The views of Lake Michigan are spectacular and our guests have raved about...

Carla – Thank you for the review, we were so happy to be a part of Justins & Missys wedding, it was absolutely beautiful. You girls did a great job with all the decorations and touches. I am pleased to hear that you and your guests had a wonderful time while you were here. I can not wait to see...

The Michillinda Beach Lodge began as a Tavern at the turn of the last century and has grown considerably from that humble beginning. Since I have vacationed next door to this historic lodge (in a private association of victorian cottages from whence the name 'Michillinda' comes) since 1947, my family and I have seen it go through many owners and...

Thank you for your review. We are so pleased that your experience in the dining room was wonderful. We have worked very hard to improve the quality and service our guests receive in this area over the summer with extra training sessions. We are glad that enjoyed our homemade desserts; they are definitely worth a trip. We hope to see...

We recently visited Michillinda Lodge for a family reunion. We LOVED it. The views are breathtaking and the surroundings are amazing. The lodge itself is old, but well maintained. If you are looking to disconnect for a while...this is the place to go. There are no televisions or phones in the rooms. And no cell service. There is wireless in...

If you manage expectations beforehand, you will not be disappointed. Remember, Michillinda Lodge is a 100 year old historic property. As such, some modern amenities will be lacking (like central air and 2012 communication options). Also, the Lodge is located right on Lake Michigan a fairly long way from the road and a really long way from cell towers, so...

I recently organized a family reunion here for 42 people. Thanks to the staff at Michillinda and only minimal interference from the unpredictable weather, it went off without a hitch. The food is excellent, activities top-notch (and free!) and the location simply cannot be beat. I will echo other's notes that the staff went out of their way to help...
