This property is in a good area, even with a Culvers right next door. The building itself is in decent shape and well decorated within the lobby. Upon entry, I immediately had a negative impression when approaching the desk staff. The gentleman at the counter was less than friendly, although not rude. Another guest (with our large group staying throughout the weekend) needed an accessible room. I was present during her entire conversation with the man at the desk and the woman who worked "in the back." This woman was chaotic and rude in her interactions with the guest. She acted "put off" that the guest needed an accessible room. I know this guest, so I know her medical and physical deficits. We allowed her to place her belongings into one of our rooms and invited her to dinner so the staff could work on a room for her. I was appalled by the way this woman spoke to the guest; I am in the healthcare field and know the struggles one can face when they have medical and physical impairments. I talked to the guest the next day, who stated she could secure a room and that it was amazing to meet her needs. Customer service needs to be addressed at this property!!!! My son and his aunt swam in the pool, and my son came back to the room soon after, indicating it was "dirty" and had a lot of hair in the pool. I did not visit the pool myself. Breakfast offerings were "okay" for the one-night stay, and I was ELATED to see sugar-free coffee syrup. Should our group decide to use this hotel again during our travels, I will likely choose another property, mainly due to the poor and uncalled-for lack of customer service I received and witnessed firsthand.

I am generally easy to please. I don't expect perfection from a hotel, but I do expect to receive friendly service. It costs nothing and makes a world of difference. You won't find that here. The "manager", Chelsea, is unfriendly, condescending, and rude.

I’m staying in this room as I write this review. This hotel, and especially the rooms are exactly why you shouldn’t have millennials design hotels. Everything looks nice, but it’s not practical at all. Why do you have the bathroom in front of the bed instead of the TV, Why do you have fogged glass partitions in the middle of the room that you can’t open up, why does the bathroom door slide and not lock (AND WHY IS THE DOOR MADE OF FOGGED GLASS SO YOU CAN SEE INSIDE!!!)? They also have large bottles of shampoo conditioner and body wash in the shower so multiple people are using the same bottle. How is the Covid friendly in this day and age? It’s like somebody tried to design a cool room without thinking of actually staying in it. The layout is horrible.

I think the pictures say enough! Absolutely disgusting. Hair. Scabs. Blood. No. Thank. You. I found the hair right after checking in. I was offered a drink and a snack from the little “market” and they went in and cleaned it up. I found the blood after waking up….no it wasn’t mine….and those blankets were near my face!!!! There were scabs stuck to the bottles of shampoo/body wash/conditioner in the shower. So disgusting. Will NEVER stay there again. Sure gives Marriott a bad name!

Checked into this hotel with my family of 4. Before brining luggage in my routine for hotels is always to check the room and the bed (healthcare workers here and know bedbugs run rampant and don’t discriminate) The hotel room looked nice upon arrival but thank goodness I checked the bed. I lifted up the sheets and first saw several spots of blood which I know is a red flag for bed bugs. Then saw a live bug crawling around. I am absolutely disgusted. I went back to the front desk to let them know what we had found and we would be checking out to find a new hotel. The front desk employee could have cared less and didn’t even apologize for the bed bugs. Please save yourself the $4000 it would take to exterminate these bugs from your house after they hitch a ride back home on your luggage and stay elsewhere. Also no matter what hotel you choose remember to check the beds!

Recently a group of us were in Michigan traveling on business to visit a client. Looking for 11 rooms, we were connected with Ellie who oversaw group reservations. From the moment we started working with Ellie, we knew our trip and stay at SpringHill Suites by Marriott Detroit Wixom were going to be great! Ellie made the reservation process super simple! Given the amount of travel we have done through the years, this experience was a 13 out of 10. :-) The day we arrived to the hotel after a 5 hour car ride, we entered to a sign in the lobby celebrating one of our business companions birthday. (Each time there after, if this person was in the lobby, hotel staff would wish him a happy birthday) The check-in process much like the reservation process was seamless and super efficient. Within minutes all of us were checked into our rooms which we beautiful. Regarding accommodations, Ellie went above and beyond not only inspecting all the rooms before arrival but also continued to check on our group during our stay. At the end of the trip, Ellie let all of us know how happy she was to have us stay at the hotel and followed up with an email. If you are looking to stay at a hotel that goes above and beyond, this is the hotel to stay at and if you get a chance, work with Ellie! She is super.

The hotel looks like it is brand new. Everything is in great shape and is very clean. I prefer the old-style Springhill Suites layout where the toilet is in a room separate from the shower, but that is no fault of this property - just a new design from Bonvoy, Love the trundle bed in the room! Everyone on staff was very helpful, welcoming, pleasant, and took a personal interest in each guest. We were there for a college visit and they remembered and asked how it went when we passed them in the lobby, Great location too!! Outdoor seating area near lobby was comfortable and a great place to relax! We will be back!

Ellie and her team were beyond accommodating to our team. We needed over 70 rooms for our players and their families and they were able to execute it immediately along with other accommodations that they knew would be helpful for us. The communication Ellie had with us throughout the process couldn’t have been better. She let us know weekly how many rooms we had left and when the cutoff to book was getting close. I can’t say enough good things about Ellie and her team and not to mention the hotel is extremely clean and well taken care of. Anytime we come back to Detroit, we will be using this hotel.

We've stayed here several times in the past and have always been happy with our visits. This time, we had two king rooms booked for three days and remained happy with the hotel. The rooms were clean and the staff friendly and accommodating. The overall cleanliness is what one would expect during this extraordinary time, so that was comforting. There was plenty of sanitizer and wet wipes stationed around the hotel common areas. One thing, I would ask the hotel management to keep a closer eye on the maintenance of items in the rooms. In one of our rooms, the telephone did not work properly (would not call the front desk), there was a burned out light bulb in the bathroom, and the shower handle was on the verge of being totally broken off (which necessitated some tricky hand movements/muscle to get it to operate properly). Also, the phone system has some sort of glitch in it that causes room phones to ring at odd hours of the night? Both of our room phones rang one time at approximately 12:15am, disturbing everyone's sleep. I would still stay here again, but worry that as the hotel "ages", the maintenance/upkeep may suffer.

I want to express how grateful I am for the excellent customer service from the Director of Sales, Ellie. I was in a last minute need to cancel due to NY adding Michigan To the quarantine state list. She went above and beyond to not penalize us for canceling so last minute. I am feeling so blessed to have someone with so much empathy for the situation. Excellent example of amazing customer service.
