We had a long day of driving the North Shore of Lake Superior, and we stopped at the Black Bear Casino Resort for the night. The room was very nice. It had floor to ceiling windows overlooking a field and part of the parking lot. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was really big. Being a casino, there... More

For Veterans day they got a free t-shirt, buffet and gambling monies. The buffet is always great--breakfast, lunch or supper. They must have served a minimum of 3000 people. We have never, EVER, had a bad meal there.

It's been a while since we stayed here. We usually stay here to hike the north shore and jay Cooke state park.We ended up getting a room in the old part of the hotel. What a dump. The carpet was badly stained. The furniture was beat to death. The front desk staff wasn't very friendly. I would pass on this... More

My daughter and I stayed at the Black Bear Casino Resort Hotel in the tower area. It was completely smoke free. We were there for a conference and wanted to be sure to stay away from the smoke. The beds were VERY comfortable, the room clean, and bathroom sparkled. One complaint we had was that the young women in the... More

They definitely had a ventilation problem as the smell of smoke (from the Casino) filtered up into the second floor halls and rooms of smoke free rooms! Terrible! We had to keep the air conditioner going all the time and then we could sleep. The Hotel itself was nice and nicely furnished. Very comfortable beds! We ate breakfast at the... More

First visit in over a year. Hotel and casino very large, lots of room to move around. All staff very friendly. Very nice looking grounds and property. Lots of slots and variety as well. Convenient location near the freeway and other local attractions.

I have a cabin nearby so I stop by on occasion for a beer and to people watch. I'm not much of a gambler. First I must say the air is thick with smoke. Not sure why people chain smoke while gambling but I guess its the last public place that allows it so they are making up for lost... More

Located just off of Interstate 35 south of Duluth by about 20 miles, this hotel and casino was initially built in the middle of nowhere, except for the highway access. The property has everything you would expect from a typical hotel casino/hotel complex, basic rooms, swimming pool for the kids, steakhouse, buffet, and bistro type restaurants, an 18 hole golf... This is one of my favorite restaurants for lunch . They have the best burgers and very resanably priced . All tables are set with table cloths and great staff . Check it out for a great lunch , and if you are felling lucky you can play bingo or some slot machines .

While in Duluth for a college football game (CSS Saints) my companion and I stayed for two nights at this hotel/casino. Our room was on the 1st floor of the older of the 2 hotel units but for our purposes it was a great location. The room was very clean, including the carpet/baseboard areas which always seem to be overlooked... More
