I don’t typically write reviews, but this experience absolutely necessitated that I warn others. I’ll preface that I have heard nothing but bad stories from family and friends regarding their experiences with Black Bear Hotel. I would have preferred to stay somewhere else but it was a summer weekend and everything in Duluth was booked or insanely overpriced with a... More

stayed over night and wish it was longer ...went with a friend and had the best time gambling and the food at the buffet for dinner and breakfast left me over fill yet so worth it . the room was very large , in the tower part .the only thing that I would say is the bed cover was very... More

I understand the tower rooms are newer, but the old rooms need updating. The carpets are stained. The bath tub had over 3 inches of standing water while taking a shower, once the water went down up bubbled some nastiness (grime, dirt and black curly hairs-I am blonde and so I my spouse). The wall paper is also coming off... More

The casino was so smoky, I couldn't even stay in the casino. My husband smokes, and even he couldn't take it. Buffet was the best buffet, I've ever been too. Great service too. We stayed in the tower, king suite, very clean and bed comfortable. Only complaint was the carpet felt sticky all over. But it looked very nice. There... More

This hotel needs a little TLC. The rooms smell like stale smoke and are a little beat up. They are casino rooms, they've definitely put on some mileage! If you're interested in gambling this is the place to stay, otherwise pick someplace else.

They 'screwed up our reservation on July 25,2015. We asked for two none smoking rooms and got one. Had to wait for a smoking room to be ready, assured by staff that the 'smell' wouldn't be a problem, they took care of it. Well it finally was ready, but it was so out-dated and cigarette burns on everything, toilet lid, side... More

Haven't stayed here in a few years. Requested a suite, separation from our children. Price was very cheap, first clue?! Room was not no suite, no separation. Our beds were by door. Room was filthy. Didn't feel comfortable taking shoes off. Baby confined to portable crib. Ewe! Pool had floaters, black stuff. Sheets and blankets stained and burned. But..... The... More

I will keep this short and sweet. Let me say that I am not very picky when it comes to staying places. However, this place was a true and utter dive. For starters you cannot walk ANYWHERE without the stench of stale cigarette smoke. I get that it is a Casino but this was the worst of any Casino I... More

We stayed at a room in the old part of the hotel. It overlooked the pool. The room was disgusting - absolutely gross - a tetanus shot waiting to happen. The carpet had numerous stains, the grout between the tiles in the bathroom was gross, the bathtub drain in the shower was plugged - it took nearly an hour to... More

The room was clean, for me that gets the most points. Other than that, nothing special. We were there for a wedding and don't gamble so to us it was just another smoky casino. The room had a big empty spot against the wall that appeared it once held a couch. The desk was the very cheapest KD furniture with... More
