We drove thru Hill City only to find downed pine trees everywhere. We began to worry about Sugar Lake Lodge. Sure enough, the lodge had no electricity nor air conditioning. The owner explained the situation reimbursed the seniors who suffered from the heat for their one night stay in Grand Rapids, provided free refreshments during check in and an exceptional...

Thank-you for the comments and we will pass them along to all of of our staff. We were fortunate to have been spared from the heavy winds that hit hill city. Only a few trees lost and the 8 hours without power. No water and A/C but the picture perfect day kept a full house entertained. See again soon we...

This resort in great shape all around. The lake is beautiful, clear, sandy and no weeds. The Lodge rooms and Villas all in great shape and include kitchens. Amenities are abundant from non and motorized sports, volleyball, pool, golf, ropes course and more. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great resort to get away from it all.

Our golf villa was newly remodeled and very nice. We golfed 2 days; the course was well groomed and very nice. We had a complimentary breakfast which was very good and a dinner which was also very good. The person on the phone upgraded us to a 2 bedroom unit for the same price as the one brd golf pkg....

This is the third time I have stayed at this lodge, all were for annual work conferences. This year there was a bit of a problem with reservations as they were setting up a new computer system. All went well though and I was booked into one of the cabins (they call them cottages) along the lake shore. Each cabin...

We usually get away from the cold for a few weeks in the winter. This year the winter was nice and we were happy to stay close to home! We have a remote cabin and got out to it for a total of 10 days. We had a week, through our timeshare, that had to be used by early March...

Thank you for the review. As you could tell we are basically closed in the winter to social travelers until June with the exception of managing the 6 timeshared units you traded into. The 98 units owned and managed as part of the resort only cater to groups through the winter. I was the person you met on arrival. My...

I along with 60 of my colleagues stayed at Sugar Lake Lodge for a 3 day 2 night work retreat. The accommodations varied significantly. Some staff stayed in cabins down by the lake which I found very cozy and comfortable with a great view, others stayed connected to the main building and those rooms seem nice clean and comfortable I...

PJW, Thanks for the review. You will be pleased to know that if you return that the golf course villas you referred to as dated/tired are in the midst of a complete redo. New carpet, Artwork, Beds, Bedspreads, etc. Actually all of the other style accommodations are getting touched. Thanks again and we hope to see you at Sugar Lake...

A wedding brought me to Sugar Lake from California and it was the perfect destination for a weekend of relaxation, celebration and really delicious food! The staff was fantastic and made us feel welcome at every interaction. The food was really good, fresh and didn't taste at all institutionalized. The ceremony was overlooking the lake, the dinner in a gorgeous...

This was our third visit to Sugar Lake Lodge (twice in 2014 and once this year). All three times we have stayed in the cabins and have loved it. Sugar Lake Lodge is a wonderful place to spend a family vacation. The lake is spectacular, great for canoeing, paddle boarding, swimming, tubing and any other water activities. The majority of...

This is absolutely a perfect resort! The only thing missing was an icecream parlor! We made last minute reservations and they were VERY accommodating. I loved the personalized attention & world-class service I received from the front desk staff. Our condo was very clean & comfortable. The housekeeping were friendly, efficient, precise and cheerful! We had a great view of...

The lodge has lots of employees to tend to the golf course and lots of golf carts to check out. Someone was also down by the marina to check out a canoe or kayak. Our kayak was missing one cushion. The first room we stayed in was a golf unit and was OK. The fitted didn't completely cover the mattress,...
