The South Pier Inn on the Canal was a very nice experience. The room was clean and spacious with a Scandinavian accent. We had a balcony view of Lake Superior and had the good fortune to see the first ship of the season go under the lift bridge. The continental breakfast offered all we that needed and the hotel staff...

We stayed in the lower panoramic suite. It was absolutely beautiful. Just wish we would have known it was not shipping season so no boats came through. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Light continental breakfast.

Absolutely stellar on all fronts: Room was spacious, with a gas fireplace, lounge chairs, mini refrigerator and hot tub. View was spectacular, and the provision of binoculars to better watch the ship traffic was really thoughtful. Toiletries were great as well.

We went to Duluth for the day from the Twin Cities. This hotel was rated highly on TripAdvisor and it deserves the rating. A short walk across the bridge to Canal Park and the restaurants/bars. The hotel is quiet and the rooms are large and well designed. We had a good view of the water(large windows), whirlpool tub, and comfortable...

We spent a wonderful Valentine's Eve at this sweet hotel! Our room was perfect! Comfortable and romantic with an astonishing view of the canal and the city lights. Everything about our stay was more than we expected.

The hotel is located on the other side of canal park but it is still very convenient to walk across the bridge to the tourist areas. Our room has both view of the harbor and bridge, while just by the bridge, it wasn't noisy. The staff members are friendly and polite. We enjoy our stays.

When our baby was around 6 months old, we decided to take our first overnight trip away (while leaving the baby with grandma) here. Definitely try to get the whirlpool/jacuzzi suite if you can. It had a beautiful view of the bay area, nice big windows, a great deck, jacuzzi in the room plus fireplace and the bedroom separate. It...

This place is a gem. It's everything you expect: immaculate, nice bedding, friendly staff. However, the owners have gone one step farther and paid attention to the "little" (but not little in my mind) that make it better than a franchise hotel. The room (room with one bed) and bathroom were both very roomy, the bathroom counter actually had enough...

What a wonderful experience to stay at this property. I can't remember if I have EVER stayed in a cleaner and more well appointed room. My husband thought it had been recently remodeled and it hasn't! Obviously the housekeeping and maintenance staff do a terrific job as it's 15 years old. And when was the last time you actually met...

We have been to Duluth many times, but this was the first time that we stayed at South Pier Inn. We highly recommend this hotel. You cannot find a better location. It is just across the Ariel Bridge on Park Point so it is close to Duluth restaurants, shopping and site seeing. The rooms are very clean and quiet, the...
