This is a beautiful lake resort. Perfectly quiet with beautiful views from all cabins. We stayed in the Norway for 7 nights and the Point for two. Loved them both for different reasons obviously. The Norway is a cold water cabin with no shower and...More
Noticed there haven't been many reviews over the Summer so I thought it was time to say this is a wonderful place to kick back and veg (or paddle and fish). We spent one week in the White Pine cabin and just loved it. Cabin...More

Aloha! Wow that is quite a distance but you will love the Ely area. There were many times when we were the only people on the lake. Mostly it is kayaks and canoes with the occasional fishing boat. The motors on the boats are small since it is a no-wake lake. The water is crystal clear and there are lily pads but its not clogged with weeds. They have a swimming beach but my 7-year old son and I jumped off our dock many times. It definitely has fish and I had many bites. We visited the wolf and bear centers in town and those were interesting. I would recommend the bear center more highly. We actually saw a bear crossing the road near town but sightings are pretty rare. Be careful when driving as the deer are everywhere. The lake also has a family of loons and it was neat hearing them. Echo Trail, which is where the cabins are located, is recommended as a good area to see wildlife. It is very secluded yet town is only 20 minutes away. We also made a drive to Lake Superior, around an hour and 45 minutes, which was well worth it. There is no television and the cell phone signal is poor but our family enjoyed being unplugged. The only downside is that fact that there are no laundry facilities. We managed without for a week however you may need to hit a laundromat in town. Enjoy your trip.
