Stopped here to see the end of the Fall colors and to enjoy the beautiful park and Lake Millacs as well. This park is my favorite in the northern area of Minnesota and it is always so neat and clean as well. The lake is beautiful and a great place to sit and relax as well.

Although I have been driving through this park for many years, this was my first visit down to the beach and boating area. There is plenty of room to move about, lots of picnic tables and lots of swimming beach. Everything is very neat and clean, no trash laying about. Everyone I ran into was very happy with their experience....

Very small state park. Rangers were very helpful, and when we decided to cut our stay short due to bad weather, they were very accommodating. Even though the park is right on Mille Lacs Lake, there are no good spots for fishing from the shore. Campground was OK. We ended up right next to the playground (which wasn't on the...

We enjoyed our stay. The camp sites are wooded and fairly private but still close together. Our campsite had plenty of shade (which appears to be true of all the sites we seen). The fire pits come with a top to cook on. The beach is long and has lots of sand. The beach is rocky in some places The...

We enjoyed the beach in particular, with an abundance of crayfish to catch and play with. Camp sites were pleasant and shady. Picnic/beach area is clean and has sun and shade. There is sand on the beach proper though small rocks farther out and away from the beach. Lots of local fishing!

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend camping trip at Father Hennepin State Park. The park is beautiful, in a great location, with plenty to keep busy. We camped in a group consisting of three neighboring sites. These sites were the perfect balance of wooded seclusion with grassy/sunny areas. Our tent is rather large, and the sites were definitely large enough to...

My husband and I (and our 2 dogs) spend the weekend camping at the Lake view Campground. It was a very nice campground, clean and quiet. The campground hosts were very friendly as well. We will be going back again this summer!! Great hiking trails too!!

This is one of the smaller state parks but there is lots to do. Hike the trails, bird watch, swim or look for the white deer. One of the park naturalists told us there are only two in the park now, but we were able to find one of them. It is simply magical to see these beautiful creatures.

Very nice park for a picnic and a swim. The hiking trails are good for small children. It has been a little crowded when we have visited in the past but enjoyed the day. A great trip from the north side of the metro area.

There are beautiful views and we had a great time. The picnic are was nice. There were a lot of picnic benches to sit on. The beach was pretty long, if narrow. The only problem was the number of Mosquitoes. Our little one was badly bitten. Take a lot of insect repellents with you

“For tenting, make sure to try and get a spot in Maple Grove. Large sites with raised sandboxes for pitching your tent. Nice and close to the beach as well.”
