We rented a lodge room (cabins are also available). The lodge is located on highway 61 with property on both sides of the property so you have private access to the shore of Lake Superior. The room was basic but acceptable, the rate was very good (89 for a night - showed up at 5 pm to see if anything... More

Thanks for taking the time to review our property. Your comments are very helpful for other travelers to the North Shore. I really appreciate you commenting on our rates which are the lowest along the North Shore and frankly--some of the lowest anywhere from my own personal experience. Our restaurant and pub is also very competitively priced with a 1/2... More

Pluses:The lodge was appealing from the highway and is across the road from Lake Superior. A large great room was available and a large porch outside provided a great view of the Lake. Minuses: Our room, however, was very small with little space to place anything, and very stuffy (no ac). Even with the windows wide open throughout our stay,... More

Thanks for taking the time to post your review. I don't know which room you were in but it must have been a Queen facing Lake Superior. I personally checked with our housekeeping staff and looked for myself as the windows are cleaned regularly--albeit the windows are old! Our rates are the lowest in our area--something we take great pride... More

My husband and I stayed here during the Lutsen 99er bike race. It was close to Lutsen as well as other towns. Beautiful location. We stayed in room 211 which had 2 queen beds and a whirlpool. The beds were alright. Everything was clean and staff were friendly. So glad there was a fridge!

Thanks for your response and I hope you did well in the race or at least enjoyed it! It was a record turnout of over 1800 people participating in the race this year. I appreciate you mentioning the room number as it helps us to improve our operation. Hope to see you again. Michael O'Phelan, Owner More

We have stayed here before and enjoy having our own cabin. We had no need for fancy, and so we rented Cabin 8, just a basic place to sleep for 3 nights. We opted for the "bed and breakfast" package and so, each morning we had a large and yummy breakfast to start our day. We appreciate having a designated... More

Stayed with my husband and 12 and 10 year olds. Served as a great home base for exploring the area. We stayed in cabin 12; it is right on the Cascade creek and has a perfect deck from which to enjoy the creek. It has 2 roomy bedrooms, roomy living room combined with a small kitchen and dining area. Serviceable... More

I would have been more accepting to the vintage up north resort had it been marketed like that. Upon entering our room the critics were hanging off the rod. Empty plastic water bottle laying on our floor. Ice machine was broken. I would love to see some enhancements to the decor to bring back the vintage atmospheres

Hmmm, I actually really have to say, I have no idea what "the critics were hanging off the rod" means... And I also am sorry to disagree, but I find it highly unlikely you found a used water bottle on your floor. Not only do we do an incredibly through cleaning job, my quality inspector checks every room before every... More

Be sure you reserve your stay early. It seems lodging along Lake Superior is at a premium most of the year. When you want to stay over a holiday, prices on lodging all along the lake jump like children invited to unlimited ice-cream. But keep expectations low. Quaint and authentic were lost sometime ago at this vintage lodge. (We stayed... More

It sounds like you may have stayed in our Main Lodge Fireplace Suite. The suite was remodeled early in our 12 year tenure here and has served us well ever since. Most guests find it an excellent value and with your own private deck facing lake superior, the view cannot be beat. I trust you must have done some comparison... More

After trying several locations along the North Shore of Lake Superior, our family one again went with Cascade Lodge. If you have a need for a larger space for two or more families you need to reserve The Chalet. It sleeps 10 comfortable and can hold 14 if need be. We were on our honeymoon and were looking for rustic, cozy places to stay. We were in cabin 11 which is a cozy log cabin next to the creek. It was perfect! The staff was friendly and very helpful. The food in the restaurant was delicious and the hiking trail around the area with waterfalls was beautiful.

Motorcycle tour of Minnesota Arrowhead with friends who in the past had attended a small wedding here. We had prearranged a late arrival, and the staff cheerfully greeted us as we came in.
