We have stayed at the Outing Lodge several times and have never been disappointed. My husband and I absolutely love this beautiful, charming and quaint Inn. The entire staff is warm and welcoming. Carlotta is an exceptional hostess. The second day with no power due to a storm, Carlotta and her staff made an excellent tasty breakfast. Thank you again...

The owners were so friendly and welcoming. Silly to mention since it would be foolish for them to be grumpy and hostile. However, they were so genuine and available to visit and share their interesting story, that I was charmed. The accommodations have modern conveniences but the whole place feels historic. I felt like I was staying in a well-kept...

Outing Lodge is in a forested area and quite isolated. I can imagine in its heyday that it was a very special place. I fear that deferred maintenance and lack of investment will be its undoing. From the plumbing to the rain gutters, it all needs attention. Disappointed that they don't even make the effort to remove dandelions from the...

Loved the wine/cheese reception and tour. Mark very helpful and inviting. Picasso room was large and air conditioning worked well. The bedding was new and very nice. The bed itself needs to be replaced. Way too soft and sunken in. Take down all the instruction signs - not very welcoming to be told "do not sit" on the bench right...

What a great place to stay. We chose this place for our 11-year anniversary and we couldn't have been happier. It's so cute and the tour was a lot of fun. Off the beaten path so you don't hear cars all night long. So nice and relaxing

Went here using a Groupon for a stay and wine tasting. Our room was large and well maintained. The common areas (including the library and lower level) are large and worth exploring. The resident dog was friendly. The long mirror on the second floor is great for brides wanting to see their train. Breakfast was good. I appreciate the spread...

I had a Groupon which I used for my wife's birthday early this month. So, I jumped on opportunity to give this place a try. We had already came here in March for their March Chocolate B&B Tour. So, we were impressed with the wonderful landscaping as well as actor-themed rooms. I was lucky to book early enough for us...

I had no problem making the reservation with the Groupons I had purchased, Mark was friendly and accommodating. When we arrived we were shown our room which was very nice and recently had some remodeling done. We had a tour and wine and cheese get together shortly after we arrived. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Service was good as...

I purchased the Groupon for the Outing Lodge and had a wonderful stay. Scheduling our room was slightly difficult due to Groupon requirements - but once we got there we had a wonderful wine tasting and tour of the grounds. My partner actually proposed during our stay - and we spent the night celebrating with everyone else at the lodge...

I really wish I could give a higher rating. However if I could give a 2.5 star rating I would There are things really great about this place, such as the friendly host, the complementary wine and cheese sampling and tour upon arrival, Choco the friendly and lovable chocolate lab who loves to go for walks on the gorgeous state...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
19th Century History Preserved at the Outing Lodge European style 19th century country home, surrounded by lawns and gardens with 300 acres of wooded park land ~ a place where people would go to get away from modern city life. Pine Point was founded in 1858 as Minnesota's second "poor farm," a home for the chronically indigent or those temporarily down on their luck. Stillwater was a wealthy community in 1850, the territorial capital. In this abundant atmosphere, a desire to help the less fortunate culminated in the construction of this poor farm. The prize-winning dairy farm became both a home and a workplace to thousands of needy for almost 100 years. When the farm was closed in 1957, the land was planted in pine trees, now Pine Point Park. The house went on for 20 years as a Rest Home. In the 1980s, to save it from proposed demolition, Lee Gohlike began its renovation. He gutted its interiors with a reverence for its historic past: wide-planked wooden floors cut from old pine beams provide a perfect backdrop to the many elegant antique furnishings, numerous candelabra and massive fireplaces. Featured in Midwest Traveler, Star Tribune and other local & national publications, this beautiful Georgian home is a destination for exclusive retreats & events. Guests enjoy cross-country skiing, horseback and biking trails connecting to the Metro system. Theme dinner calendar of events. ... more   less
