I am a seasoned traveler. Go to Mayo on a regular basis. The Holiday Inn was booked. Kahler was available. Old. Tacky. Dirty. And more expensive. Talked with another guest who paid $49 less per nite. When asked at the desk I was advised not to call direct (which I did and was told had the best price) but to...

The first room they gave me was old and outdated. They did give me a different room after I called and complained. The new one they gave me had been redone but this hotel in general is old and out dated. I would look at staying at the Marriott across the street.

I can't say enough about the kind desk staff. The purpose of this visit was for medical reasons. We arrived 5 hours before check-in. My niece was in a great deal of pain and the desk staff not only requested the cleaning staff expedite cleaning our room; but also selected a room conducive to our long stay. Some parts of...

Worst Hotel Stay experience . No thermostat in room . Staff not helpful . Bellboy not available . Room temp is adjusted by the hotel staff - they turn the AC and heater on and off at their convenience whether the guest is suffering or not the staff does not care .

I was not pleased with this hotel. The prices were great, but the rooms appear to not have been updated since the 1960's. When I walked in, there was a mini refrigerator sitting in the entryway on a 1960's or 70's end table. The bathroom left much to be desired. No vanity, sink hanging on the wall, stool with the...

Be mindful about your location and what you are by... I am sure 15-20 years ago this was a beautiful hotel (built in 1921 it would've been a premier hotel at that time!) but time has taken its toll. The main lobby is updated for a modern look, however the rooms are in need of some serious updating. Some are...

I had read the bad reviews, but thought I would reserve the "updated" executive rooms as they assured me I would be happy with them! I requested 2 rooms next to each other or adjoining ( apparently this is not possible but of course they didn't tell me that! ) Check in at 4:00, only one room is ready, they...

The front desk clerk, Ben was terrible. He was more interested in his cell phone than helping guests. Ben also checked us into a room with one bed even though we had booked two beds. When we asked to be moved, we were charged an upgrade fee and moved to a room in poor shape. At check-in, the tub was...

Very close access to all of the downtown Rochester Mayo Clinic buildings. Hotel staff are very well versed in the special needs of Mayo Clinic patients. Underground access hallways to the clinics are useful in bad weather. Forget renting a car from Minneapolis, take a bus for $35 to Rochester.

I/we stay here for our mayo app'ts. Have had some very good stays, and some poor, such as the last one! People working fro the Kahler need to listen, and do what the clients/customers are saying and asking for/requesting. Most of the employees are good ---to very good!
