What a treat to sleep on a boat! The rooms were clean and well appointed, the proprietor was friendly and fun, the breakfast was delicious, and the other guests were fun to get to know! We booked the Pilot House and it was not a mistake. What fun to have 360 views of the beautiful sights this fall! But we...

We had a lot of fun spending a night on this beautiful, quaint moored boat on the Mississippi River. We were in the Master's Quarters which was surprisingly roomy and furnished in such a lovely way. We were surprised at how quiet it was at night and had excellent night's sleeps. The bathroom, as it's on a boat, is absolutely...

I'm not sure who reviewed this Inn but none of the reviews compares to the experience we had recently. Yes, its a tug boat but we expected a whole lot more for the price. 1. Prepare to walk a block from your car down a ramp which can be slippery. If you are hauling a suitcase, and it's larger than...

I'm so sorry you didn't realize you were staying on a boat. All the things you didn't like are the things others find charming and awesome. The towboats are one of the things people love about the river-it's part of our history, as are the trains. It's true, bathrooms can be small on boats but everyone knows that, right? As...

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I am not great with boats as I can get sea sick but this boat was very stable and the river is not moving quickly so I had no issues at all. My room was well laid out and optimized the smallish space available providing me multiple areas to enjoy. The woodworking throughout the boat...

We came up the Mississippi River from Dubuque by boat; so had some reservations about sleeping on a boat after a day in our boat. Since we had no land transportation, the host did a "beer run" for us :); and later recommended where to order a pizza for delivery. Beautiful facility, location, service. Great to interact with the other...

Lovely location literally on the water opposite the Lowertown neighborhood of St. Paul. Quiet park adjacent for strolling and jogging (and fishing, too, if you were so inclined!) Easy access to Lowertown St. Paul for some hipster restaurants. The rooftop deck was great for early-morning watching the rowing teams practice their skills. We were in the "Mate's Quarters" which was...

We stayed for 2 nights in the Riverview Suite. Clean, comfortable and charming. The bed is on a platform next to a porthole and there is a 2-3 step ladder to get on the bed. There was also a charming little nook with 2 portholes - we ended up sitting there to plan the day ahead. In the evening, we...

What a great weekend get-a-way! Book 3 or all 4 rooms and spend the evening on your private outdoor patio with family and friends (can't do that in a hotel). Cozy, nice, and Bill makes a great breakfast when Liz is away! We like that the Covington Inn was close to good restaurants like WA Frost (try the patio dining)...

Coming from Northern Minnesota for our youngest son's wedding in St. Paul (PI weekend) we were looking for a nice B&B for the weekend. What we found was an absolute gem. Liz does an extraordinary job of making you feel completely welcome on her converted tugboat. There are 4 suites all with private baths, fireplaces and unbelievable views of the...

  • Our bathroom - small but it does the job! Good water pressure and good heat. In room heater.
