Stunning spot, on the best beach in the areas, beautiful and very quiet. The 3 small cottages / rooms are wonderful and simple with views of the azure sea. Susanna the owner is extremely friendly and helpful, and also runs a fantastic Italian restaurant onsite, open to guests everyday and pubic for Friday's and Saturdays. Simply a lovely place, a...

Like many reviews about this place it's hard to do it justice, you just have to go! The communication was brilliant with responses always within 24 hours and really good information. We have never been to Mozambique and it's a bit of a mission to get to, but totally worth it. You really don't need to stay in a fancy...

Well, few lines are not going to be enough..but I'll try. Let's start by saying that it was my first time in Mozambique and did not know what to expect, coming from South Africa the scenario and services where totally different. Mr. Carlo Macchiarulo, has always been available and friendly from the first e-mail contact, he picked me up at...

Outstanding and exclusive place: out of space, out of time. Beautiful nature, a delicious mix of Italian and seafood and the cherry on top: Susanna and Carlo are truly amazing hosts that made us feel like home. We met a Prince there, but we were treated like kings. Now we are pirates forever. Check out the pirate flag!

When I was living in the bush in Mozambique (2009-12) I often travelled down to Pemba to get the fresh air and the energizing atmosphere at Il Pirata. Each week end there has been great one: clean and well designed bungalows "african touch", truly fresh Italian cuisine from Susanna and many slow and close to nature walks and baths in...

My friend and I spent three perfect days here on our recent trip to Mozambique. We reached the beach by flying to Pemba, and it's only about a 30-minute drive from town. Once we arrived, we immediately questioned why we hadn't come sooner. Il Pirata Bungalows are situated on a gorgeous stretch of unpopulated beach, so that alone makes you...

We stayed almost one week with Susana and Carlo at Il Pirata, it was for sure one of the best holidays of my life! Il Pirata is around 15Kms from Pemba the main city in the region, you need a 4x4 car to get there since the last kms of "road" are not "designed" for normal city cars. When we...

We had a very bad start to our stay as we hadn't been sent directions for getting to the lodge and there are absolutely no sign posts. We couldn't get cell phone coverage to call and in the end stopped at 3 police stations to try and find the lodge. A policeman at the last station accompanied us and we...

We stayed for four nights at Il Pirata in October 2011 and had the most amazing time. The bunglalows and restaurant/bar area are situated just by a beach about 10km down the coast from Pemba. The beach is perfect - pure white sand and clear sea stretching out as far as you can see - and far nicer than the...
