We stayed with Burnette on the last night of a very long road trip, and she made us feel like we were already home. It was like staying with an old friend! The house is beautiful and filled with interesting and unique antiques. Our room was clean and comfortable-the linens were soft, there was a stocked fridge with water and... More

Short notice trip to Columbus with a very demanding itinerary. Burnette could not have been more gracious and accommodating: - early check-in allowed us to be on time for important event; - pet friendly welcome by entire staff, and Caesar (cocker spaniel); - early send-off with breakfast to go. Definitely our go-to place to stay on next Columbus visit. Lovely... More

Want to wake up in a scene from an opulent pre-Civil War love story? Stay at Shadowlawn. This two-story home boasts antebellum elegance with postbellum conveniences. The most luxurious bed I had in this journey through The Magnolia State let me enjoy the decorations & craftsmanship of the house & free wifi/cable before using real silver to devour the finest... I've stayed here twice this year and I plan to visit again next week. Burnette Avakian is a lovely, charming woman and a great cook. Her Monte Cristo sandwich is out of this world. Breakfast at Shadowlawn is a real treat. The mansion is gorgeous and the rooms are spacious and historically accurate, and most elegant. I can recommend this... More

Our family enjoyed a lovely weekend at Shadowlawn B&B while attending my nephew's college graduation. Even though this was a few miles from Starkville, we were thrilled that we chose to stay here, at this quiet and beautiful B&B. Burnette went out of her way to meet our every need. She even accommodated us for a lovely luncheon after graduation... More

Over the years, we've stayed in a lot of bed-and-breakfast places, but none that have been more elegant or have served more scrumptious breakfasts than Shadowlawn. We would recommend Shadowlawn without reservation to anyone who would enjoy staying in one of the fine restored mansions on Columbus' annual Spring Pilgrimage.

Arrived Thursday for Homecoming at the W. Burnette kindly welcomed us in, had aired out the room and changed the bedding for me (allergic to down), and prepared two delicious breakfasts for us. I had a fantastic spinach frittata day 1 and day 2 my husband and I both had pecan praline souffles (a must try). Day 1 my husband... More

We had a lovely stay at Shadowlawn, with our hostess Burnett. We are both on very restrictive diets, and I had not called ahead, thinking I would just tell our host to skip preparing breakfast for us, as there were too many restrictions to make it reasonable. But Burnett would have no part of that! She said "We're all about... More

The room was very nice and so was the hospitality. The food was extremely good the next morning as I got the Bananas Foster and my wife got the Monte Cristo. This was both of our first experience staying at a bed and breakfast and quite honestly a very nice one. Thank you for making our wedding night a memorable... More

Shadowlawn is a gorgeous Bed & Breakfast full of the most wonderful collection of antiques! We stayed there the weekend for the MSU vs Vandy game and couldn't have been happier with our choice! Best sleep we've had away from home in a long time! Our mattress was excellent and the breakfast was uniquely delicious! Burnette is quite the cook... More
