Read a few of the other reviews before posting mine, I agree that this hotel could use a little renovation, but not much, rooms could be updated, other than that, everything else I liked. They had a free happy hour at the bar from 5-7 which was great. Breakfast was just as good or better than any Marriott I’ve ever stayed at. I would stay here every time I came actually, I’ve seen the great, the good, the bad, and the worst, and this is a good hotel.
The rooms and common areas need some updating and a good scrubbing. The air conditioner in the room was really loud. One of the beds in my friend’s room was broken. The rooms could be cleaner. The beds are comfortable, but the sheets are really thin. The breakfast is about the same as most other hotels.
We stayed at the Cabot Thursday night to Saturday morning 10/18-10/20. When we got there we easily checked in. We were surprised at the open bar for 2 hours happy hour. It was awesome. The Thursday bartender was a bit quiet and stuffy, but the Friday one was awesome! The room was average but clean. The shower / tub was fine but not spicy. The hot breakfast was nice with average food. The front desk folks were great and friendly. We would definitely stay again.TV choices were good. Good late checkout at Noon. All employees were great!!!
You can tell that the hotel once had charm, but desperately needs renovation, especially the rooms.
Pros: free breakfast, cocktail hour - so worth considering if you're traveling with children or in groups, such as sports tournaments. Staff was very friendly. Small pool and courtyard.
Cons: rooms desperately need renovation - rooms smelled like mildrew (strongly) and smoke, even though non-smoking hotel. Years of smoking still linger in the furnishings. There was a sticky substance that appeared to be thrown at the wall and dripping down had never been cleaned and was growing mold. Television didn't work and signal went in and out even after we reported and it was supposedly fixed. Hot/cold faucet in the shower was very old and impossible to control. Both kids were scalded even with parent assistance. Beds each had two of the world's tiniest pillows. They were so small, it was hilarious to see them on the bed - about the size of a piece of paper. We had to use the chair cushions to sleep. Comforter was incredibly thin and not enough to sleep comfortable. Only one elevator was not sufficient for peak times and barely held passengers plus luggage, and it was small and very old. Children were terrified that they were going to get trapped and chose to take the stairs.
Stayed here for a business trip . Business meeting was held here as well . Great meeting room . Large room and was clean . Hotel room was clean and good for the price . Will book again for my next trip .
