Beautiful location and charming accomodation. Extremely friendly staff that make you welcome and feel at home. Worth a visit for the excellent food alone. Very comfortable beds and good facilities, and a delightful beer garden at the rear of the inn leading into a woodland full of native bluebells.

Lovely hotel on quite a busy road. Staff very friendly. Food was delicious at all meals. Thank you to Charlotte for serving us on her first night. Room was small but in an old building this is part of the charm. It was clean and fresh and and had usual facilities.

The chequers inn never fails to deliver. We have been coming here for years and cannot find anywhere more accommodating when we visit the area. The food is beautiful and the service is spot on. They cannot do enough for you. It was very busy when we arrived last night but the staff on duty just took it in their...

Two ladies lunching, very comfortable chairs at a very nice table. One ordered goats cheese salad at £11, when it arrived it covered half the place very prettily, so thought something is coming to fill in the other half, inbetween the waitress asked is everything alright, foolishly we said yes. When after eating she came back and asked again we...

Had a starter and a main at this place but we did not stay over. It's in a great location, right in the country side but it is quite remote and you need a car to be able to get around. The food was pretty tasty although they didn't have many vegetarian options.

I dropped in for lunch today, the food was excellent, I had the best salad I have ever had anywhere. When people say salad is boring they have never eaten the salad I had today. Leaves with beetroot, goats cheese, figs, walnuts. It was gorgeous.

Just called in for lunch and pleasantly surprised how attentive and helpful the staff were, also the beef sandwiches were superb. Highly recommended and the accommodation we saw looks like a return trip is on the cards.

Stopped here for lunch today, without booking, and made very welcome by staff and management alike, lovely bottle of prosecco followed by the most delicious haddock in a crunchy batter, twice-cooked chips, mushy minted peas and tartare sauce, beautifully presented in a cosy and warm bar restaurant. Adequate parking opposite. Will most definitely return, maybe on a warmer day and...
