My husband, daughter and I stayed in Bracken End cottage, we were blown away by the cottage, it is clean, spacious and furnished to a high standard. The bedrooms are cosy and come with good quality bedding and furnishings! Wifi in the barn. The chickens are funny when they knock at the door to see if anyone will feed them. Slaley hall was a big bonus and we are so glad we took our swimming costumes! We are already trying to book up next year again!

My family and I stayed in the Lodge for a week I don't normally like going to the countryside but I really enjoyed staying there. My grandma even enjoyed it and she doesn't normally like going away. We stayed from the 22nd to the 29th, all the people staying in the other cottages were really nice, spoke to atleast one person from each cottage. Slaley hall spa was very fun and really enjoyable. I would definitely recommend Ruffside cottages and I would stay again, if my mum would let us go again :) x

These cottages are exceptional! Design, decor, quality, comfort in beautiful countryside, didn't want to leave, we stayed in The Furlong, two ensuite bedrooms plus toilet downstairs, huge sitting/dining area with kitchen at far end which consisted of every appliance required. Whilst we didn't need the facility there is a large building packed with children's games and toys , an outdoor play area adjacent too. The village of Blanchland is a delight with hundreds of years of history, all in all an extremely pleasant place to stay!

Just got back from a weeks stay here and I have to say the accomodation is fantastic. We stayed on a Wowcher deal and would have paid more if we had too and it was well worth the money. Stayed in Pipistrelle a one bedroomed cottage, it had everything you needed, A very large comfy bed, fantastic power shower and bath, fantastic equiped kitchen, with washer, dishwasher, fridge with small freezer, cooker and microwave combined. The lounge area had a two seater leather sofa and large TV with freeview. Outside was a small walled patio with table and chairs and the cottage overlooked fields and childrens playing area, but the children didn't spoil our stay. There is free WiFi in the games room but this can get noisy when the children are playing in there. If you like quite, peaceful places to stay this would suit you down to the ground, but we found it abit remote. The nearest pub is 2-3 miles away on a very winding road so you would need a car unless you are walkers then you would enjoy the walk. Apart from the games room and play area there is not much else for the children to do but if you had bikes the scenary is wonderful. All in all we had a lovely stay and would return for a long weekend.

Stayed in The Heathers for 1 week 15th - 22nd May 2014. Cottage is superb, very clean and well equipped. Lovely large open plan kitchen, dining and lounge, two very comfortable sofas and nice tv. The whole site is very well looked after, the grounds are well tended and the grass cut once a week. The seperate games/activity room is a godsend for families on a wet day and commands a lovely view across the field to Derwent Reservoir. There are many opportunities for walking locally, and cycling is also popular. Good local pubs abound, the nearest is a short car trip of about 2 miles, and most serve excellent evening meals. This really is a peaceful and relaxing spot and well worth a visit. Vouchers are also provided to enable guests to use the pool and gym facilities at the nearby Slaley Hall Hotel.

We travelled as a family group and we were not disappointed by the lay out of the accommodation and the communal areas within which enabled us to all sit comfortably together on an evening. The standard of the furnishings is excellent along with the cleanliness. Our only gripe was the view of a works wagon that was parked in the gravelled area in the centre of the village over the whole of the weekend that we stayed. Not something that you want to see as you open the drapes on an morning! However, we would recommend staying here although perhaps request a cottage on the other side not facing a tool hire van!

Had originally booked to stay for the week at the smaller site and were contacted by the owners to inform us there was a problem with that accommodation and would we mind moving! We had been looking forward to our break and worried that this would be the start of things not being as good as we had hoped for. How wrong we were. When we first entered our home for the week,'Birchinlee', we could not have been happier, the first impression continued throughout the property by all the family. Very clean, excellently equipped, a real home from home. Our teens enjoyed the wifi and the little one the freedom to run freely in the 'barn' and the outside play area. We all enjoyed the space in the property, and the ability to all comfortably relax in the lounge in the evenings, enjoy breakfast around the table in the mornings, and the quality showers in our bathrooms (ensuite). The vouchers for 'Slaley Hall' were a bonus which enabled us to use the leisure facilities free of charge, and we were warmly welcomed by their staff and provided with towels, nice way to spend a family afternoon. A great base from which to explore the surrounding area and only 25 minutes to 'Metro centre' which was hard to believe given that it is so secluded and remote from city life. Would have no hesitation recommending this location and hope to return.

A very nice place to stay, very clean & tidy with lots of new equipment. Only one door to get in or out, not too happy about that, but there was a fire certificate. No area immediately outside the building to sit and relax with a cuppa.

Had a great weekend based at The Meadows for a wedding in Consett. Very nice accommodation and plenty of space for our group of seven. The kitchen is well layed out and perfectly adequate for meal times for a large group. Wifi would have been a benefit. We all enjoyed our stay and agreed to use The Meadows again.
