My family likes exploring old roads and history and this is a great place. My 15 year old son wasn't sure about a room without a TV and just a radio but he loved staying here. It is like a step back to a simpler time. Owners gave us some great tips on food and are very nice folks. Rooms...

This is a classic motel on Historic Route 66. Renovated with period furniture and bed spreads. Small and intimate, this is a pleasant trip back in time. Back in the day when a night in a motel was $0.50 per night, this classic was $2.50 per night. A place where the rich and famous once stayed.

We have stayed at Boot's Court twice. Both times in the Clark Gable room. The rooms are quaint, clean and all you need for a night. Forget the tv and wi-fi. Think of simpler days. I think the best part of our last stay was a thunder and hail storm. Our car was parked safely under the carport (?). We...

What a charming review! The radios are such fun, and hearing that you actually danced in your room, as people used to do, really makes me smile. It is i just the kind of thing we hope our guests will do to enjoy the moment!

When I first pulled up I wasn't sure what to expect. There was no one there, and all I had to go on was a note scotch-taped to the front door to call Debbie if I needed assistance. I called and Deb came out. The lady was awesome to deal with, she suggested a good restaurant nearby. The room was...

We are so pleased you allowed us to be your hosts! We just love reviews like yours . They encourage others who may be hesitant to take a chance on a lodging experience that is somewhat "outside the box". We look forward to the opportunity to again be your hosts in the future .

We enjoyed our stay at this motel. The staff were very friendly and they provided covered parking for our motorcycles. Very interesting history about the motel. Well lit with neon lights at night. The shower, however, is quite small.

We always try to make our guests feel as if they are visiting friends. Travelers are often amazed by the difference between what was a "luxurious bath" in 1949 and what we have in modern motels and homes today. Thank you for being our guests.

Possibly our favorite stay on our trip. We had so much fun here that we didn't even care about the drawbacks of an older motel. There are two rooms that Clark Gabel stayed in, one with two full beds and one with one full bed ( the room we stayed in) and its a very cozy full size ! We...

I just love your review! It is always SO gratifying to please people who don't really expect it. Are any of your photos fit for general audiences? If so we'd love to see some. We do have Wifi because it doesn't affect the historical appearance of the rooms. The password was written on that teensy little paper receipt, but I'm...

This is an amazing place to stay if your want the feel of what Route 66 represents. It is warm and immaculate. Debbie Dee checked us in and is a sweet, knowledgeable woman. The room had hardwood floors which was wonderful and so clean. The bathroom was small but great. We loved the neon lights at night--so perfect for those...

We had the Clark Gable room. Outside looks a little run down but room was exceptionally clean and loved the decor. Great to have a radio playing old tunes. Was worried the bed would be too small and uncomfortable but we had a cosy nights sleep. The neon light bothered me at first (need complete blackness to sleep) so hung...

First of all, I want to thank both Debbies for their guidance and information about Carthage. Although I had driven to the nearby Civil War battlefield 20 years ago, I didn't know the vast and rich history or realize it was on old US 66. I was given the Clark Gable room and that's not just a title, there is...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Boots Motel is an iconic historic motel on Route 66, at the junction of historic U.S. Route 66 and U.S. Route 71. It features two buildings, one built in 1939 and one in 1946, in the Streamlined Moderne style. Neglected for years, it is currently being restored to its 1949 appearance. Five rooms in the 1946 building are now completed and ready for occupancy. They feature spacious rooms with the original hardwood floors and built-in vanity dressing tables, and ceramic tile bathrooms with shower stalls They are individually decorated and furnished with period furnishings such as chenille bedspreads and 1940s-style furniture. Some still have the original round mirrors installed over the dressing tables. There are no televisions since television was not available in the Carthage area until the mid-1950s, but, as originally advertised, there is "a radio in every room," and the motel does offer free WiFi. Each room is individually heated and air conditioned, just as advertised in the 1940s. Experience a time when room service delivered your ice to your room and your room key was a real key that fit into an actual lock! We also have 5 double-carports to protect guest's vehicles from weather. Welcome back to the 1940s at the Boots Court! ... more   less
