We just spent three nights at A Mare. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We loved our outdoor terrace. Bettina is great. She recommended two restaurants and both were delicious. A Mare is in a good location. You can be on that wonderful Salema sand in a minute or two. We were very happy with everything and would stay there...

Overall, we really enjoyed this B&B. Bettina was absolutely fabulous in helping us with whatever we needed, or any questions we had. We stayed in room #1 and we found it very comfortable and clean. The bed was very comfortable and the sleep quality was very good. However if you are a light sleeper, just know that at around 7am...

In my opinion, this place has it all. Painted blue and white and perched on a steep hillside, it is reminiscent of the Greek Islands. Be prepared to climb some stairs. No two rooms are alike but probably all have magnificent views of the sea. There are lots of patios for sitting plus the dining room can be enjoyed on...

'A Mare' is very much like Salema itself, compact, friendly, quiet, simple, comfortable oh and steep!! Located up a flight of steps just back from the beach it offers a great view of the coast. The room was compact but comfortable with good wifi and an excellent bed, although the fridge was a little noisy. Breakfast was excellent with fresh...

We loved our stay at A Mare. Bettina is a wonderful host. Our bed was very comfortable and the best sleep we had in Portugal. Good quality and clean sheets, towels, etc. Location is great, views wonderful, breakfast excellent. All facilities are clean and well maintained. The abundant patios with chairs and perfect for morning tea/coffee to welcome the day...

Our time in the Algarve was a delight. We were there in the off season, it was beautiful and quiet. We sleep soundly and would awake at the great views of the ocean while having morning coffee. We had this area as a base for visiting the South West corner of the Algarve. We didn't want to leave. The beach...

From the moment of Batina's gracious welcome to the end of our sixth relaxing day at A Mare, we could not have found lodgings more accommodating to our large group's desire for opem communal space and sweeping sea views. Every room or suite is airy and cheerful and has a private and interesting outdoor space to enjoy. The breakfasts are...

We traveled in the off season, so it was beautiful and quiet. We specifically booked room 6 because of the ocean view from our room, with a terrace as well as a skylight where I watched the stars as I lay in bed. It was a little corner of paradise with a lovely breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice, fruit,...

Beautiful views from the terrace at the top floor apartment, very comfortable and affordable for the relaxing atmosphere! We didn't want to leave this wonderful B&B or town! In the off-season there was no breakfast, but the owner provided a lot of information, did our laundry for us, and recommended where to go in town. We really enjoyed the loft...

If you go off season be aware that there are few lodging and event fewer restaurant options in small Salema. Our room had wifi which was nice. There was no tv which is not a mandatory requirement for me but it is a nice thing to have. There is a fridge in the room which is good if you are...
