There are some beginner breaks in town near some of the hotels and food on the beach, but for the most part the current was strong when we were in the water. I didn't see anyone with lessons available and this resort is a bit isolated from a lot of places. If you rent a car (which you absolutely should), go explore some of the other areas a bit further north for some calmer surf. But overall, the place was very nice.
