Cape Town Marriott Hotel Crystal Towers is where innovative, modern design meets timeless sophistication and luxury. Located in the heart of the Century City urban hub, we are among the most perfectly located hotels in Cape Town, South Africa, settled beside a palm-lined canal and boasting views that stretch out towards the majesty of Table Mountain. Situated a mere 15 minutes from the airport, city centre, V&A Waterfront and the start of the luscious Cape Winelands, Cape Town is at one’s fingertips. What we call – Cape Town’s back yard. Take advantage of our complimentary scheduled shuttles to and from the CTICC, V&A Waterfront, Table Mountain, Camps Bay and Clifton Beaches. If you want to stay close by, take a walk across our exclusive access bridge to Canal Walk Shopping Centre, with 400 stores open all day. On your return, unwind on the deck with some fresh sushi and delicious cocktails, whilst watching the sun set over the metropolis. However, if you are looking for an intimate dinner, make your way down to the Towers Restaurant for a dining experience designed to entice the senses. If relaxation is at the top of your list, then a visit to the Award Winning Life Day Spa is an absolute must. It offers a unique place of relaxation that provides sanctuary from the stress of modern life. Facilities include treatment rooms for individuals and couples, a floatation chamber, a gym, sauna and steam rooms. To end the day, return to your magenta lit room and kick back with one of our complimentary DVD’s from the comfort of your bed or lie back in peace and soak in what it feels like to Live the Crystal Life.

I had the opportunity to stay at this location right before the pandemic took control world wide. The hotel in my opinion is in a quieter part of Cape Town (Century City) with a Shopping Mall just a short five minute walk behind the hotel on the Canal Walk. If you grow weary of hotel food, you can go to the mall which has multiple restaurants and fast food options or there is a bar with multiple food options within a 2 minute walk in front of the hotel. The Room I had was very comfortable as it was one of the suites (8th Floor I believe) with more than enough room to not feel cramped. The location is about a 15-20 minute drive from the Waterfront and about 30 minutes from Camps Bay depending on traffic which can be very hectic at times (just avoid the rush hours in the AM and PM and you will be fine). The personnel working at the hotel is very knowledgable and I want to give special Thanks to Joc (Travel Coordinator) and Mr. Abdul (Driver). If you want to go on a private tour of places in Cape Town and nearby and have contemporary comforts I would definitely recommend booking through the hotel. Also the time I went the weather was very ideal as it was late Summer. The one word I describe this whole trip is BEAUTIFUL.

Great location, very practical being right next to the Canal Walk mall. If you ever need anything it's easy to walk across or even go to Tasha's for lunch like I did. Hotel breakfast is good, omelette station is excellent, but they never seem to change their items so if you are staying for a week it might get a bit tiring.
Hotel room looks great but it just wasn't practical. There was no bedside table to put your glasses, phone etc. The room is dominated by a big circular shower cabinet plopped right in the middle of the room. The cabinet was nice and spacious but you have to be pretty comfortable with your travel companion if sharing a room, taking a shower inside a frosted glass tube where you can still make out the shadows and hear all the sounds. What's so wrong about a separate bathroom with a door you can close? Also when you step out of the shower you get water all over the room floor, not nice. The work area was fine but I found the high stool uncomfortable over time. I also found the whole place a bit cramped. The TV comes up from a hiding place by the end of the bed which is gimmicky and all it had was snowy channels, no proper dsTV. Room service was good and pretty fast.

Outstanding staff, rooms and dining. Probably rates as the best accommodation I have ever stayed at. There is the huge Century City shopping centre right behind the hotel with even more eating places and awesome shopping.
I would recommend that this hotel caters more for couples and groups of friends rather than families. The hotel is only a short drive from both the airport and downtown Cape Town

We stayed at the hotel for one night during our trip to South Africa. Overall it is a good standard business hotel with all the features you would expect. However, the reason I strongly recommend not to go there is the fact that in the Cape Region there are periodic power outages. Hotels cover this with generators as the Marriott does. Unfortunately the generators are very badly isolated and hence you will hear them very loudly at night. We were given rooms in the 1st floor which were directly above the generators and we were not able to change them. While the generators stopped at 2230 they were turned on again at 0400 and there was no way to sleep with them running. Very annoying was that the reception told us the generators would not be switched on until 0900 which turned out to be a false information as we found out later when looking at the official webpage of the city of Cape town. The hotel should block the 1st floor for the time the power outages continue and given the experience with the reception I will certainly avoid this hotel going forward.

Response from CrystalTowers, Guest Relations Manager at Cape Town Marriott Hotel Crystal Towers
Responded 8 Mar 2020
Dear Privat425, We are terribly sorry to hear that the generators required to run all lights, electrical outlets in all areas including guest rooms, guest lifts, kitchen cooking equipment, telephone systems, fire life & safety systems & all computers disturbed your sleep. The information provided to you about load shedding was completely accurate. Unfortunately South Africa's main power supplier, Eskom, has a huge shortage in electricity due to mismanagement of the company, and as an unfortunate result, the entire South Africa experiences load shedding, daily, at different times of the day and night. On some days, our power is switched off for up to 13 hours a day and you can imagine how challenging it is to run a business without a constant power supply. Our generators were installed in compliance with all local legislation and compliance certificates were issued by the City of Cape Town. The positioning of the generators is in the Lower Basement of the building and noise dampening equipment was fitted in compliance with local legislation. We completely understand that on occasion and especially at night when sound travels further, the sound of the generator could cause disturbance, however, based on the compliance certificates issued to us, we can assure you that the noise levels are within legal requirements. We would like to sincerely apologise for the inconvenience you were caused and hope that load shedding will not be a permanent for South Africa. We understand the frustration and will continue to strive towards providing our guests with the best stay experience possible under this unfortunate circumstance. Kind Regards, Mincha S Guest Relations Manager

The hotel is at a very quite and serene area in CT which I loved. Check in staff were super friendly! Their exchange rate was however a bit unreasonable so we had to walk to the mall to change money. The Marriott bridge was closed for renovations for the entire time making the trip to the mall long and tedious. They could include extra security for those who have booked the hotel to walk to the mall without fear. The rooms are nice and new but still smelled of paint. There was massive load shedding so power went out daily but hotel has a quick stand by generator. The room was beautiful, bed comfortable, showers amazing. The room service insisted on only serving sparkling water daily! Sometimes you just want still water. The bar at the restaurant was not well stocked. They literally had nothing but 2 savannas and a random red wine which was very disappointing(this happened in 3 separate occasions). The food was ok but sometimes bland. Overall was ok. Tip - stay in the upper level rooms (ask for the renovated ones). However on one day I woke up to a man cleaning my windows hanging from outside and I am sure the guy could see me cos we had a staring match. Very unsettling and scary.

Responded 31 Mar 2023
Dear Phindim, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. I am very pleased to hear that you enjoyed our location, your check in experience and the new room. We are very fortunate to have generators during the load shedding periods, an added plus. Unfortunately, the bridge and outside areas are not managed by the hotel, and I truly sympathize with you having to walk a longer route, this can be a big inconvenience and we are glad that they have completed the maintenance on the bridge now. Throughout the year the windows of the hotel require regular cleaning to maintain a clear view. During this time, we communicate to our guests via a letter in room that, it may be advised to keep the curtains closed for more privacy and to avoid any unwanted staring matches with the gentlemen doing this maintenance. I am truly sorry to hear of the lack of stock in the bar and that only sparkling water was replenished in your room. This is truly not the standard we strive for and has been addressed with corrective measures. Thank you once again for taking the time to give feedback, this is greatly appreciated. Yours Sincerely, Loyce, Cape Town Marriott Hotel.

Very disappointed for a 5 star hotel! Made online booking for special deals early check in and late check out for my husband birthday weekend away. I have phoned before hands to let them know there will be a 6 year old boy and if they can also do little thing for the birthday even just a small piece of cake, the booking lady name Ulanda said I can up grade for extra R300 for extra bed and bigger room which I am happy to do so, I have also confirmed with her twice with early check in if including breakfast and she said yes, that’s part of the special.
On the day we arrived the reception very rude and rolled her eyes on me said no deals included breakfast and at 8:30 the room is not ready, we send up paying full price if breakfast for two.
End up there was no extra bed for the child and also NOTHING for my husband birthday cake ( not even just a sweet)
The bed is very old and uncomfortable, I end up not sleeping well as every small movement of my husband and my child I can feel it, the bedding is inside out and the beds are broken( yes, I have taken pictures)
Not recommend for any business man to sleep there as there wifi also very slow, I couldn’t even open a page ( and yes, I have also took pictures of that)
My husband took me for Taj 5 star hotel and we had a wonderful time so I book Marriott as I think it’s a standard for a 5 star hotel but no!
The mirror by the sink is falling apart, very badly fitted after someone break it in the first place( I got pictures for that too)
Not worth to call this hotel as a 5 star hotel. Very bad experience.

Dear Ying Q, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay at the Cape Town Marriott Hotel. I am truly saddened to hear of the poor experience had as this is not the standard we strive for. All your requests were noted on your reservation by Yolanda however, we are in the process of fully investigating why there were so many short comings in terms of delivery upon arrival. Breakfast is included in the package rate booked for the following morning after arrival as well as a food and beverage credit that may be used towards any food and beverage bill incurred within the reserved stay. Please accept our humblest apologies and rest assured that your feedback has been shared with all teams and department heads to ensure that corrective measures are taken. Yours sincerely, Loyce W Guest Relations Manager

In late May 2024, my wife and I stayed at the Marriott Crystal Towers in Cape Town following an Oceania cruise. From the moment we checked in, we were showered with attention from the guest services staff. Our early arrival did not cause any problems, and we were shown a temporary room to relax and have tea and fruit while our room was being prepared. We were told that this is the first Marriott hotel in Cape Town (the others were acquired through a Protea acquisition), and the staff was clearly making an effort to meet the stiffer Marriott standards. Mbutelo and Sibusiso could not have been more gracious and accommodating. The hotel is a quick Uber into the center of the city, but it is safer, and you can walk at night in this attractive area. We recommend it highly.

My husband and I really enjoyed our 7 night stay at the Marriott Crystal Towers. The room was very clean and modern, we especially enjoyed the floor to ceiling windows which gave us a nice view of the city. Our rate included free breakfast daily which was a great way to start each day. All the staff were very friendly, the bellman (Grant) helped us every time we saw him before going out to explore Capetown for the day. Also, one of the servers at breakfast named Aphwie checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. It was very easy to catch Ubers to all the popular spots, we never waited more than 5 minutes for a ride. There is a nice mall named Canal place right next to hotel with tons of eateries if you are looking for lunch or dinner close by.
Lastly, we were able to arrange a late check out at 7pm on our last day because our flight wasn’t until 9pm. That really helped because it’s always nice to shower prior to a long flight. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a comfortable place to stay. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Capetown.

We found this hotel to be very dark, curtains in the corridors and very dim lighting. The rooms are spacious, but the shower in the middle of the room was a bit strange and leaked all over the floor. Footprints in the bath were also not a particularly nice find given that cleaning is supposed to be scrupulous in these times. No point in having the TV as the choice of channels appeared to be terrestrial and not very clear. There was also no remote to lower the TV. It’s a gadgety room without finesse. The one lovely thing was a delightful waitress called Ingrid who was serving at breakfast. She had such a positive outlook, and made us smile.

Travelling during COVID, this was our 4th Marriott property of our quick trip to SA. Front desk staff was amazing...super friendly, helpful and very competent. The breakfast was delicious and our wonderful waitress was so kind to us every morning. The rooms are a little funky, reminded me of a W hotel. Location was outside the tourist zone, but only about a 10 minute drive to the V & A. Pool area was perfect, pool temperature a little chilly. One huge plus is the hotel is a 2 minute drive to a drive-thru COVID testing spot which was perfect and needed for our international flight the next day. Anigen testing results came in about 90 minutes and they said PCR results would come within 24 hours.

No it does not, but there is an open lounge area to relax and a pool table.
Ther were no balconies but I had a mountain view and it was fine.
Is this hotel in a good area for walking around? Are there restaurants and bars in walking distance?
The Century City mall with restuarants is just a walking distance from the hotel. The hotel has a restaurant or you can dine at Knife restuarant which is just opposite the hotel.
They do have rooms with views that are gorgeous to wake up to watching sunrise or the sunset. Definitely email or call them to secure this though and let them know it’s for a special occasion, guest services is really helpful and it’s a lovely place to stay.
