Stayed at Tan-Tar-A Estates 3br. I thought i rented a home but it was 3 separate living quarters in one structure with no access to lake. Glad my kids are adults otherwise we would have checked out. Property is outdated, has cheap sagging flooring, full of webs (external), and not freshly cleaned. There was a hole/dent in one bedroom wall. The estate grounds are unattractive and not kept up with trash removal. Property not ideal for someone unable to climb or descend stairs. Some staff friendly but many were not. We will not return. Not totally bad but definitely not worth the price (August 2021).

We recently booked a 3-Bedroom House at Tan Tar A Estates through the Margaritaville website because we required accommodations for (10) people. We enjoyed our “family time” together, but I felt it necessary to let you know that these accommodations were NOT what we EXPECTED. The Margaritaville website displays pictures do NOT MATCH the shack-like house where we stayed. I suggest that the website should be updated to indicate you are NOT staying in rooms as pictured on the Margaritaville website. I understand that you would NOT want to be up-front about the poor condition of these places, however, this SHOULD BE disclosed to avoid mis-understandings and failed expectations. Rooms at Margaritaville are detailed as TWO QUEEN SIZE beds. Rooms at the Tan Tar A Estates were equipped with FULL SIZE beds. Rooms at Margaritaville suggest they are equipped with BBQ Grills. Grills at Tan Tar A Estates are NON-EXISTENT. We packed food for grilling and did not have a GRILL. You will NOT have a relaxing “lake view off the deck of a balcony” as pictured on the Margaritaville website. Our shack backed up to the Dead Wooded Forest. The mesh on the “screened-in” porch was torn, so it did NOT keep the bugs away. The towel bars in TWO of the bathrooms were not secured, and fell off the wall with the slightest pressure. The TV did NOT have good reception. A black box would pop up every 5 minutes to block the picture. Possibly Wi-Fi issues??? Kitchen was advertised as “fully equipped”. NOT SO… we were provided with BATHROOOM Hand Towels to use for KITCHEN purposes. Eating utensils were very limited, toaster was broken, Coffee Maker looked as though it had NOT been cleaned for ages, etc. It should be CLEARLY NOTED, on the Margaritaville website, that the Location at Tan Tar A Estates is very obscure, and that you will need to call for a Shuttle to visit any amenities at Margaritaville. When I phoned the Margaritaville front desk, It was suggested that we meet at a “Bus Stop” down the street from our accommodations. Shuttle driver was NOT receptive when we asked how to catch a shuttle back. I am sure that he needs to repeat himself quite often during his workday, but this was our FIRST TIME visiting and we needed some guidance. We will NOT be booking any future stays with your establishment. The EXPECTATIONS as pictured for Margaritaville are NOT what you will receive at Tan Tar A Estates. This would have been better received if they were DETAILED “UP FRONT” on the website.…

When I came to the estate I went to the shower but the shower had green booger all over the curtain and there was piss all over the toilet and someone didn't even or forgot to flush the toilet and the bed had a huge red stain and makeup all over the sheets and the walls had blood. Overall I am definitely going to not come back here again.

We were disappointed in our stay here. Our room was very dirty. Bugs, both live and dead in our bathroom. The pool was always packed with a crowd of people you do not want your children to be around. The pool side was way too small for the size of the resort. There were drunk people driving all over the resort, hanging out of the car windows or beds of the trucks as they were speeding down the winding, narrow roads. Very unsafe! One of our children were nearly hit by one of these cars in front of our estate. Might be a fun place for a 21 year old, but definitely not for families. The horseback riding doesn’t do reservations ahead of time, so you have to get up go all the way to guest services by 7am to get a spot. We tried going at 8:05am 1 day and all the times were booked. This was a fairly last minute trip for us, booked about 30 days in advance and all the boat/jet ski rentals were booked for all 3 days we were there. …

This place is not worth your money and we had a horrible experience for $5000.00 of pure horror. The houses we ordered were double booked when we arrived with so many hey put us in row houses and separated our entire family, when calling three days before arrival they charged us an additional $700to stay in a dump, the manager Michael and his team where so unprofessional and never apologized nor did they provide accommodations close to the $5000.00 we paid; the rooms were nasty with strong water smell, refrigerators in the rooms were broken all the furniture was falling apart air missing pieces as a manager this was the worse case of customer service I have seen in my life and received absolutely no s naw on remorse from the staff or leadership team what we got was four days of our family separated, poor accommodations and poor customer service, we will be submitting something in writing regarding the robbery for such poor services and accommodations. Do not book this property unless you are on the property and can see and have them sign a copy contract that you have what you asked for. I have been to a Margaritaville before and this is clearly some over priced backyard mess.…

we enjoyed our visit in the tan Tara estates, Margaritaville area. Stayed in nice air b&b. Visited the hotel and swimming pool and bar area couple times. Swimming pool is nice, but very crowded and not nearly enough umbrellas for people to use. Deck is very hot also. I believe there are materials nowadays that can be used to prevent that. Have a good selection of drinks, but pricey to say the least. Landshark Bar & grill pretty good, had good waitress. More comments on that in another post. Really enjoyed the 9-hole, signature golf course. We'll maintained, Staff are polite and reasonable rates and course is in excellent shape.

First off this place has changed to Margaritaville. I am not sure if that is a good thing or not. The location is very old and needs a ton of refurbishment. Further if you stay in the Estates section, be aware that you are not in the actual hotel or even near the hotel. You are off in a maze of individual time-share lake houses that are not updated. Ours was down several stairs and had a ton of bugs. Wifi was spotty. The room was not very clean and didn't match any of the pictures from the booking.com site or even from the website for Tan-tar-a/Margaritaville. The room had a hotel packet that had information about room service, calling a shuttle from the main hotel (that you have to be ready for whether it takes the shuttle 5 or 20 minutes or more), and other services. The hilarious thing is that there is no phone in the room. We had a dead wasp in the curtains that barely covered the window (we used a chip clip to keep it closed). I went and complained to the front desk and requested a manager, he said that the only accommodation that could be made was to transfer us to another place in the estates section. I told him that was unacceptable and that they were really advertising something in a fraudulent manner. Almost like a bait and switch. Nothing was done. · When I went to complain again about not having a phone in the room, etc.. the staff at the front desk said "well don't you have a cell phone..." I find that condescending attitude really uncalled for in a service industry position. Further everything on site (including restaurants) close really early (some places at 9pm) and there are no other places that stay late on property. If you go to the water park (which is tiny) you pay $17 if you are a hotel guest and plan to stay with your kids. If you are not a hotel guest or don't plan to stay with your kids the cost is $22 per child. Plus you have to pay $5 per adult (that is not going to swim) to come in to the facility. Oh and by the way they don't have lifeguards. So they would have let me send my 8 and 9 year old children into a water park where I was not watching them. I find that completely irresponsible and just asking for a lawsuit. If you want to play putt putt golf, you have to pay $7.50 per game per person. Now remember that you will also be paying a "resort fee" while there, which I am not really sure what it covers.…
