Our family has been gathering at Sunset Point for over 30 years. It’s always been so nice to feel comfortable and at home on the property. Our group rents out all of the rooms and enjoys the access to the outdoor amenities. This year was very different than years past. It’s obvious that the maintenance and upkeep has been de-prioritized and there was hardly ever staff present to resolve issues quickly. Upon arrival I recognized that our unit (same one for decades) was not as clean as it usually was. The dirt on the bathroom floor had been accumulating for some time based on the amount between the wall and bathtub. The TV in the bedroom was no longer there and there were not sheets available on the pull out couch, that was stained and sagging. We also only had a half a roll of toilet paper with no replacement and one trash bag. When I brought this up to the woman in charge she told me she was aware and these things were intentional. I should have asked for sheets (it was 10pm when we noticed). The toilet paper and trash bags were to be asked for (glad we noticed before we needed them) and the sheets were not there because people unfold them? Our towels were crunchy so I have no idea if they were clean. We decided to do our best to ignore all of this and just spent time enjoying the outdoors. Then my son cut his foot IN the pool on a sharp edge, multiple family members slipped into the pool on slick steps and one family member sat in a broken pool chair that collapsed on him. When the chair situation was brought up the same female replied, oh yeah, that chair… They knew they were cracked and not safe! We know this property is older and things happen… then we noticed the smell. Some of the cabins started having plumbing issues and were smelling of sewer gases. In my Mom’s cabin the sinks (bathroom AND kitchen) were filling up with DIRTY toilet water when toilets were flushed. In the evening when the caretakers returned from their day at the river we told them of the situation. We were told they went to town to get something to put in the septic tank and it was full because people put paper in the toilets. Um, yeah, they do. A few hours later the smell was overwhelming. There was a leakage and sewage behind several of the cabins. The caretakers were out on the lake and not available. When they finally returned they yelled at our family for using the restrooms, and during the rant said they knew the tank was full before our arrival. I’m so disappointed by this experience. It’s an older resort, things happen. All of this could have been mitigated, resolved, or even handled appropriately and instead the female caretaker chose to be aggressive, combative, and unaccountable. We always look forward to our time together and this place has been such a big part of that experience, it was so sad to see it falling apart. I hope they turn this around, learn how to deal with hard situations and figure out how to support guests.…

Spent the weekend there very nice accommodations the owners were friendly as could be. Already booked our stay for next year. Had a place for my boat. Had a nice pool,pool table, tennis courts,shuffleboard and ping pong tables

My granddaughter and I went there last summer and I am taking more family with me as we are heading that way again tomorrow! Love the cleanliness of the place, the owners are great and the lake is close by! Going to make this an annual family retreat!!

It was great It was clean and we will.be back. It has stuff for the kids and can cook there and it is beautiful to sit outside and see the scenery. The room was just the size that we needed. We came and went as we wished and enjoyed the peace and quiet

The owners are rude and disrespectful towards customers. We booked two cabins under false pretenses and they refused to refund our money. They also told us we could not use the swimming pool because they booked a family reunion.

it is a older place but clean nice pool. a little pricey we rented a cabin with 2 double beds and 2 singles and 2 hide a beds for 80.00 but that was only including 2 people so it was 10.00 each for the children so we really paid 140.00 a night plus tax plus 25.00 for using a credit card. The owners seem to be watching your every move. Made it hard to relax

Our whole family went to Sunset Point this month for our annual vacation. We have been going there for quite a few years now. Very nice resort, especially for children, with a lot for them to do. The owners have taken great care to keep the property in very good conditions and the rooms/cabins are very clean. Also has a very good pool and pool area.
